Why would I be prescribed Lorazepam with Tessalon perels and Amoxicillin for acute bronchitis and an upper respiratory infection? ## Hello, Curtis! How are you? The pearls are used to suppress cough and the Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. I am not sure, however, on the Lorazepam. Did you doctor explain?

Ironically in the exact order you listed them as. cough medication ## I was prescribed Benzonate for my cough while I had Bronchitis. It was not helpful at all and the over the counter medicine, Nyquil did a better job. Would not fill this medicine if prescribed to me again. ## Not all drugs work for everyone. ## I was given Benzonate for a cough and have been taking it now for 5 days. The benzo family is quite large - they are dangerous, often difficult to quit and have shown many long-term (the rest of your life) side effects. Do some homework please and work with your dr. to titrate your dosage. They usually will cut it in half for a period, in half again, as low as they can go, and ultimately cut it.
