Ihave a newscript for levothroxine 50 MCG - things usually say MG ## Hi Linn, I definitely hear you on this one. Prescription drugs can be more confusing than algebra at times. Lol The difference of mcg vs mg is the measurement of each. MCG is the abbreviation of micrograms. MG is the abbreviation of milligram. You would need 1000 micrograms to make up 1 milligram. For your own reference: 50 mcg = 0.050 mg Learn More: Levothyroxine Details I hope this helps! :) ## Thank you. That clears up a lot. You are right, it is as bad as algebra which I also did not excel in. ## What is the difference between b12 5000mcg and b12 1000 mcg. I have been taking b12 1000mcg. What does 10-5 mean on Lortabs? My prescription doesn't seem to be working for my pain and I was wondering if it meant Lortab 10 mg or Lortab 5 mg. So if it is 5 I can get a stronger MG ## What it seems to be is that your doctor was prescribing the tablets with 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen. I could be wrong, since I am not a medical professional, but I have seen it abbreviated this way before, from other similar posts. And no, a doctor cannot write it as an either/or prescription and let you pick which one you want, even if they tried, no pharmacy would fill it that way. More than likely, they will call your doctor to double check the prescription, to be certain of what exactly they are supposed to dispense to you. If your current dosage is not working for your p...

I ran out of synthroid. It shows 0.1MG. I got a temporary bottle that shows 100MCG. Are they the same? ## Hi Lucille, Conversion tools verify that 100mcg (micrograms) is actually equal to 0.1mg (milligrams), so you should have nothing to worry about as far as taking the correct dosage is concerned. If you were given the temporary bottle by another pharmacy, that could explain why they used a different measurement than you were used to seeing. I hope this helps! ## Do you have to eat when taking leverothryroxin? 0.1 mg ## Hi. I am taking methylcobalamin 500 MG inj. every two weeks, but when you convert mg to mcg you get very high numbers. I am concerned that I am talking too much. Please help! Thank you ## You need to have an empty stomach. The best is to take it 1/2 before you begin you...

What does the sod stand for on phenytoin sod ext its a 100 mg purple and white capsule ## Why is it becoming more difficult to find xanax on The streets? ## What does SOD DR EC mean on the Diclofenac bottle? ## The SOD stands for Sodium, it designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from, that's why some list sodium, some list hydrochloride and etc. As to the DR on a prescription, just like XR, SR, ER and quite a few others, it designates that medication as being time released. As to the EC, from what I've found, it's used similar to ES, DS and etc. to designate that as being an extra strength dosage, rather than the standard prescribed amount. The drug I'm taking is probenecid 500mg tablet wat....what does " wat" mean ... Drug was given to me and a patient advisory leaflet was given to me and that's when I noticed "wat" at the end of the drug received .....It said :Probenecid 500 mg tablet wat ? ## Hi Robert, Based on my research "WAT" stands for the name of the manufacturer. So it could just be an abbreviation for Watson Pharmaceuticals. The DR stands for delayed release and the ER stands for extended release, they both just denote that the medication is in a time released formulation, so it isn't released all at once, when it's taken. You may also see it abbreviated as SR, for sustained release, CR for controlled release or just XR.
