My husband has a prescription for cyclobenzaprine from 2013 and is haveing an awful muscle spasm can he take one from his old prescription even though it is 2 years old? ## It doesn't become dangerous, once expired, but it does start to lose efficacy, so it most likely won't work as well as it did, when new. Want to know what this drug is equal to in a more familiar name. ## Cyclobenzaprine is Flexeril. ## @Thomas, No two drugs are "equal" in my opinion, because they also contain different binders and fillers, different half-lives (i.e. some lasting longer than others), different release rates (i.e. how quickly it affects you), etc.. So when you ask about an equal substitute, the best I can do is point you in the direction of different brand names of Cyclobenzaprine... Karen named 1 of them, and two others I'm aware of are Amrix and Fexmid. There are also various medications within the same drug classification as Cyclobenzaprine; known as muscle relaxers. A few drug names in this category are as follows: Methocarbamol, Carisoprodol, Metaxalone, Orphenadrine, Chlorzoxazone, and D...

Which is stronger a cyclobenzaprine 5mg or a diazepam 5mg? ## There is actually no way to compare these two drugs, because they aren't in the same drug class. Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant that's used to treat muscle pain and spasms caused by cramping, sprains and strains. However, Diazepam is a benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders, it also has the potential to be habit forming. You can learn more Cyclobenzaprine details here and you can learn more Diazepam details here. Which has your doctor prescribed for you and what are you treating? ## DIAZEPAM FOR NECK MUSCLE PAIN

I was having swelling in my throat w/ baclofen & now it seems to be happening again. I take tizanidine & cyclobenzaprine & I'm trying to figure out if either of these two are causing this? Does tizanidine have the same properties as baclofen? ## Cyclobenzaprine and Baclofen are both muscle relaxants. Thus, I must ask why you are taking both? It is not common to be prescribed two medications in the same class, at the same time. And yes, according to FDA reports, since all 3 of these medications are muscle relaxants, you may also experience such a reaction to the others. You should be very cautious and if you have severe trouble breathing, or develop hives, you should seek immediate medical attention.

How are you? Actually, you'd be better of with the Ibuprofen if your doctor approves of you taking it, since it is classified by the FDA as an NSAID that is used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Cyclobenzaprine, however, is a muscle relaxant, not an analgesic, so it won't do anything to help with a toothache. I am prescribed cyclobenzaprine 10 mg for muscle spasms. I recently strained my rhomboid muscle and went to the ER and they prescribed methocarbamol 500 mg. Can they be taken together? ## These are both muscle relaxants, so it is usually best to stick with just taking one, to avoid the possibility of overdose. The FDA warns that taking too much of this class of medications could result in nausea, dizziness, severe drowsiness, shallow breathing, and possibly respiratory failure, which may be fatal. How are you doing? Are you on any other medications?

How are you? No, they are both listed by their respective manufacturers, Breckenridge Pharmaceutical and InvaGen Pharmaceuticals as containing 5mgs of Cyclobenzaprine. is flexeril like tramidol? ## NO! Not even close. Tramadol is an opiate derived anti-inflammatory, they were trying to engineer a medication that would have the pain killing benefits of a narcotic, without the side effects. It didn't work and they ended up with something that is just as addictive as regular opiates. Flexeril, which is Cyclobenzaprine, is a completely different class of medication. It is a muscle relaxant.

Is this drug a narcotic? ## Research I was able to gather does not show Cyclobenzaprine to be a narcotic. You can view a detailed description of the drug, by clicking on the link below... Hope this helps! ## It's not a narcotic. However, in my experience, it has done more to help with my pack pain than any narcotic I've tried.

wisted my knee and I'm having severe pain and swelling. Will flexeril help ease this pain so I can sleep? ## Hello, Shoshimom! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. According to the FDA, Flexeril contains the active ingredient Cyclobenzaprine and is classified as a muscle relaxant, so it likely won't help much. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Some cold compresses and Ibuprofen, may help, if your doctor approves. Have you contacted your doctor, yet? Any time you have swelling like that, you should have it checked out.

What class of drug is a Ciclobenzaprina 10mg tab? Are they similar to a soma? Because I prefer somas. What if there's no imprint on the tablet? The prescription was purchased in Mexico and I'm wondering if that's why there's no imprints or if they could be fake pills? ## Hello Megz, Cyclobenzaprine is a prescription only drug used as a muscle relaxer often sold under the brand name Flexeril. It is often used to treat skeletal muscle spasms and fibromyalgia. Mexico medication does not have to follow FDA regulations such as having imprints. Because they do not follow FDA regulations it is not possible to identify the manufacturer or ensure the contents of your medication. Consume them at your own risk. Does anybody know how long Flexeril stays in your system? I really need to know. ## It is addicting so you need to taper off if you have used it for a while. ## Flexeril... this is my first. what are the risk in taken this medication and what are the side of effect. ## Flexeril is a muscle relaxant, IT IS NOT RELATED TO VALIUM and IS NOT in the same class of drugs. The active ingredient is Cyclobenzaprine. Some of the most common side effects are: drowsiness, headache, depression and blurred vision. How long it lasts in your system really depends on the dosage you have been taking and how long you have been taking it.

I was recently prescribed 10mg Cyclobenzaprine tablets for the pain I am having in through out my right shoulder blade, collar bone and some times down the entire right arm.i haven't taken any of the prescribed medication yet because I've been told that 10mg Cyclobenzaprine is a benzo and is the same drug class as Xanax.,in which I refuse to take.I hate Xanax and all the side effects that come with them.So my question to you is,are 10mg Cyclobenzaprine equivalent to a Xanax? ## Cyclobenzapine is in no way related to Xanax. Cyclobenzapine is just a muscle relaxer while Xanax is a benzodiazepine. Cyclobenzapine, or flexeril wich is the brand name is a good muscle relaxer and is nothing like a Xanax. ## Jason is correct, it is nothing more than a muscle relaxant, and a rather mild ...
