I took Diovan brand 320-12.5mg for a very long time. The generic became available. I have a history of reacting to drugs and wanted to stay with the Sandoz which I've been told is a generic to Diovan and Sandoz company is the generic company of Novartis who originally made Diovan brand. By hopping from one drug store to another I found Valsartan Hydrochlorathiazide tablets 320-12.5 mg marked identical to the brand drug with the HIL and NVR on the pink oval pill. I paid generic price. Soon pharmacy ran out and told me they would not be getting anymore Sandoz Valsartan HCTZ 320-12.5mg. I was told to go to other pharmacies and maybe they would have some on their shelf. I did, I even went out of state and was able to buy 90 days but was told that's it, no more will be available. The...

I have been taking the Sandoz version of valsartan/hctz (80/12.5) for YEARS with no problems. Recently, my pharmacy switched to the Aurobindo version. I feel like it's doing nothing (or little). I thought that the bioequivalency for generics was mandated by law. Did I get counterfeit drugs at Rite-Aid? Nevertheless, the pharmacy was skeptical but accommodating. They faxed over the request to my incredible GP whose office responded within the hour. I can now pick up my Sandoz version again. Anybody else have a similar experience? ## Hello, Kenny! How are you? Did you just feel like it wasn't working, or did you actually check your heart rate and blood pressure to find out? Generics do have to be bioequivalent. But without actually checking, after taking it for a few days, there...

How are you? Do you happen to know what the markings were on the tablet in question? Or who the manufacturer was, so I can research this further for you? Does Losartan hctz tab 100-25 mg equal Diovan HCT 320-12.5 tab. I am concerned about the difference in milligrams. I recently started the Losartan. ## It's usually about 100mgs of the Losartan to equal each 160mg of the Valsartan in the Diovan, but your HCTZ (Hydrochlorothiazide) has been raised from 12.5 to 25, so that dose has been doubled. Learn more Hyzaar details here. Did your doctor make this change? It's really a matter of trying it and seeing how it works for you. If it doesn't work, then you may require a dosage adjustment.

Valsartan/HCTZ 320-25mg tab LUP ## Hello, Lazarus! How are you? That's an abbreviation for the manufacturer, which in this case is Lupin. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hypotension and dehydration. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The bottle says LUP, yet the pill says LU. Thoughts?

The medication is supposed to be Valsartan 320/ HCTZ 12.5. the pill is almost twice the size of my normal pill which is also pink and has HIL on one side, NVR on the other. ## Yes, that's still the same medication, it's just a generic that's manufactured by a different company. The one you were taking, with the NVR HIL imprint was the name brand Diovan HCT. The reason for the size different is usually just because they've chose to use different inactive ingredients and binders, when manufacturing them. Learn more Valsartan details here. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hypotension, and dehydration. I need valsartan 320/hct and metformin that are gluten free. Just cannot seem to find a manufacturer that is not gluten free. Pleae help! ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? According to a website I found that lists gluten free medications, the Metformin manufactured by Teva is gluten free. However, I am not finding anything listed for the Valsartan/HCTZ, so you may need to ask your doctor about prescribing an alternative. The FDA lists the typical side effects for Metformin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and hypoglycemia. The typical side effects for Valsartan/HCTZ may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and dehydration. Do you have celiac disease?

I was prescribed cyclobenzaprine 5mg 3 times daily as needed for discomfort and diclofenac pot. 50mg once daily. My complaint was neck and shoulder pain. I was given an xray and was told it could be degenerative joint disease. I take Valsartan/hctz half of a 25mg pill. I took all 3 the other morning and what I would describe as butterfly feeling in my chest like 40 minutes after taking it. Should I stop taking it and call my dr.? It was the 1st time I had taken all 3. ## Hello, Mick! How are you? The Diclofenac can affect your blood pressure medication, so it may not work as well for you. That may be what caused this symptom. Yes, it would be best to speak to your doctor about the issue. They may want to adjust your dosage, or prescribe another medication. As listed by the FDA, Valsarta...

What link will help me find out if my Losartan is on recall? Is Losartan/HCT 100-12.5 mg made in the USA? Is there any recall on NDC 43547-425-09? ## Hi Linda, as to your original question about a recall, I checked on FDA MedWatch and did not find anything about your specific brand of Losartan/HCTZ tablets (NDC 43547-425, manufactured by Solco) being recalled. Solco did have a recall of Valsartan/HCTZ in 2018 [1]. What you might be referring to is the Losartan/HCTZ recall from Torrent Pharmaceuticals [2], [3] ... but that is a different manufacturer and NDC code than what you originally listed. Also, as far as where this drug is manufactured, it could vary. For example, Solco is based in the United States, but they could outsource their manufacturing or some ingredients from other count...
