I have been taking hydrocodone 10/325 4 times daily for post surgery pain for 2 weeks. My dr recently switched me to 50 mg tramadol because he wasn't in the office to write me a script. Will the tramadol be just as effective? I just took 3 50 mg tramadol to start off with. ## Hello, Dustin! How are you? 5mg oxycodone vs 50mg tramadol which is more effective for pain? Is tramadol safe for someone who is not supposed to have nsads? ## Hi Bill, Please don't take my word alone for this, but I've heard other patients say that 100mg of Tramadol is about as potent as a 5mg Oxycodone. Even though everyone's tolerance is different, statements like this certainly go to show that Oxycodone exhibits far more powerful analgesic effects than Tramadol. However, if you're thinking of switching between the two I'd definitely recommend discussing this with your doctor first, just to be sure you're taking what's truly considered to be an equivalent strength for the desired effects.
