i have an infection on tooth extraction site prescribed clavemel forte 500 3 times a day for 5 days how long will it take for infection clear please. ## Hi Annabel, The infection should be gone close to or by the time you run out of the Clavamel forte (Amoxicillin + Clavulanic Acid). If the infection is still there after the 5 days of antibiotics, you'll want to speak with your doctor. In addition, I have heard that vanilla extract works well for tooth infections as well as clove essential oil. I have personally used both of those oils for an area on my gum that became swollen and it healed the area in a couple days. Those oils also helped to numb the pain I was experiencing, so it may do the same for you as well. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Amoxicillin + Clav...

Once you finish your course of treatment, then you should return to the dentist for the extraction. I do not have dental insurance and I am suffering from a toothache. From past experiences, it feels like an exposed nerve. Is there anything over the counter that you can recommend I take to help reduce any infection as well as reduce the pain? ## Hi, Spencer! Sorry about the toothache. No, there is nothing available over the counter that can help with the infection. That's going to require an antibiotic and those are only available by prescription, except for the ointments that can't be used in your mouth. For pain, there are several options, such as Orajel and Anbesol, but they are just topical anesthetics that won't last for long, plus you need to check with a doctor or dentist to make sure they are safe for you to use. I know it can be expensive, but you really need to s...

I have some amoxicillin that is 3 months old prescribed to me for my abscessed tooth can I still take it because my abscess is back ## There should be an expiration date on the bottle, once past that date, the best thing to do is dispose of it and obtain a new supply, if needed, from your doctor, or dentist. However, if you did not finish the full course of treatment originally, that may be why the infection has returned. Additionally, if you did not have the original underlying problem corrected, which caused the infection, that could also cause it to return. The FDA warns that this medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. ... and if you don't have enough left to finish a full course of treatment, you may find your...

Can the antibotic cefadroxil be used to treat a tooth abcess. ## Cefadroxil can in fact be used for dental infections; although amoxicillin and metronidazole are generally used as first line of treatment. Learn More: Cefadroxil Details If you're experiencing a lot of pain, I would also try dabbing the area with Vanilla Extract and/or clove essential oil. Both options tend to have a numbing effecting to where you can't feel the pain while it kills the infection. I hope this helps!

Pleeeeeeeeez help I'm just totally beaten down with this???????????? any help would be appreciated greatly ## It sounds like those antibiotics were not the right ones to help you. I had a tooth absence and the dentist gave me Betamox 500g and Metzol 200mg after some few day the absence bust and I stopped using all those tablets .my problem is I've been experience pains on my private parts and itching bad at my vagina with lots of thick discharge inside. I thought it will get better but it is getting serious or more confusing symptoms everyday.I think it is caused by the medication ## Yes, Betamox which contains Amoxicillin, and Metzole, which contains Metronidazole, are antibiotics and they can cause yeast infections as side effects as listed by the NIH, and the symptoms you've described likely mean that's what you've developed. It will not go away on it's own, you will need to see your doctor, because it will require an antifungal infection t...

I had a root canal competed on August 4th. I now need the filling replaced on my crown. Can I have the filling completed and receive a reclast inj. the following week? ## Hello, Mac! How are you? It would be best to double check with your doctor, since Reclast can cause some dental problems and there is a risk of your developing osteonecrosis of the jaw, as listed by the FDA. Many people are told to take care of any dental health issues, prior to starting Reclast, but I'm not sure how long they need to be separated. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, vomiting, weight loss, numbness and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just started taking sertaline (zoloft) 8 days ago and i have been experiencing tooth/gum pain i know i need fillings but this just seems different anyone else go through this? ## Do you grind your teeth while sleeping? that can cause tooth and gum pain. maybe it got worse since getting on the drug. other than that, I haven't heard of this as a side effect of zoloft. could be periodontal disease. see a dentist. ## I believe that Martin is on the right track and thank him for his post. SSRIs, such as Sertraline, have been known to cause bruxism, as well as gum disease and bleeding gums. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. I experienced it myself, when I used to take it. Can I take Ciprofloxacin for a tooth infection? I found some in the medicine cabinet from a previous Dr. Visit and was wondering if it would be effective??? ## Although Ciprofloxacin is not commonly prescribed for dental infections, it may be used for certain mouth or gum diseases, after a culture and sensitivity test is done. This will show the best antibiotic to treat the infection. (For example, Ciprofloxacin can effectively treat rare dental infections caused by the Enterobacteriaceae group of bacteria, but not others). So it may be a hit or miss if you still intend on using this medication. Dosages for dental purposes: The typical adult dose is 250 milligrams to 750 milligrams every 12 hours. This dose is given for 7 to 10 days. Ciprofloxacin should not be taken with dairy products...

Can you help my name is pat i have a reallyinfected sisdom. Tooth an all i got rite now are keflex m bactrim will that kill the infection ## Hello, Patrick! How are you? They may help, since they are broad spectrum antibiotics, but it would be best to see your dentist and have them suggest the best antibiotic to take. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. I went to a urgent care to get a prescription for penicillin for a tooth infection my left side of my face has swelled up so I went in he prescribed me amox-clav 875 until I can see my dentist but by my tooth being infected the dentist can’t pull it until the swelling goes down, but it’s been 3 days & the swelling is still here but the pain has went down some, last time this happened the doctor gave me amoxicillin and my swelling went down the next day, do I need a different penicillin pill I need help ## It's usually the active infection that prevents them from pulling it, not the swelling, since when the infection is active and in its prime, they can't numb it properly to pull it. I have a bad abses tooth is keflex a good antibioti to take for it ## Although Keflex (Cephalexin) is commonly prescribed for tooth abscess, some patients believe that Clindamycin is a better option for these types of infections. In my opinion, it's best to stick to more natural options, such as Clove Essential Oil, to avoid many of the undesirable side effects that are associated with prescription drugs in general. However, it probably just comes down to whatever your doctor recommended for you and whether or not your body reacts favorably to it. I hope this helps!
