Once you finish your course of treatment, then you should return to the dentist for the extraction. I was told that the first sign of infection in the mouth is pain will this help ## It would be more accurate to say that pain in the mouth might be the sign of an infection, because pain could also be caused by issues other than an infection. The tablet with this marking is a generic for Bactrim, which is an antibiotic that's used to treat various types of infections and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash. Learn more Bactrim details here. However, you should't take it, unless your doctor or dentist has instructed you to do so. If you don't have an infection, taking it creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. This is also a possibility if you do have an infection, but don't have enough of the an...

Hi I'm a young guy still in highschool I freak out all the time but anyways I worried about my tooth it got infected and said I needed a root canal and the tooth beside it is all right but the one beside it is throbbing and it hurts to push its my front tooth I don't want to lose it at a young age please help ## Hello, Jared! How are you? I'm sorry about your tooth ache! A root canal doesn't constitute losing the tooth. As detailed by the NIH, it involves drilling down into the tooth to remove the roots that have been damaged by the infection and then the tooth is usually capped. This eliminates the pain and prevents reinfection. The other tooth may not be infected itself, it could be painful due to the infection in the other one, but only your dentist can let you know f...

NAPROXIN OR IBUPROFEN, WHICH IS BETTER ## Hi IETTY, Depending on the dose, both of these medications could effectively handle the pain associated with a toothache. Some people however prefer Naproxen over Ibuprofen because of certain side effects and that it may be easier on their stomach. Others find a few hundred mgs of Ibuprofen to be more than sufficient for a toothache. There are just many different reasons for choosing one over the other... One patient review I found stated that 400mgs of Ibuprofen every 4 to 6 hours was sufficient enough to take care of their toothache; although I haven't come across any specific details on Naproxen's equivalent dose for this same treatment. I think it will simply come down to which medication you react best to. Have you tried either one ...

Will Azithromicina 500 mg work for impacted tooth as well? ## Hi Johnny, From what I could gather, Azithromycin is commonly prescribed for dental related infections. However if the tooth needs to be extracted (perhaps via root canal) due to decay or nerve damage, my understanding is that an antibiotic will only help for so long until you get the necessary procedure(s) done. And to help address your other question about an impacted tooth, Azithromycin fights infections throughout your body and not just one specific area, so it really should cover all basis where an infection is present and not just a single tooth. Have you already gone to the dentist for an evaluation?

I have a bad toothache and it's making my head and ear hurt can I take pentrexyl ## Hello, Ray! How are you? I'm sorry about the tooth ache. Pentrexyl contains Ampicillin, which is an antibiotic, so it can be used to treat dental infections. The FDA classifies it as an antibiotic and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, you need to check with your dentist to make sure that its due to an infection, because taking it, if you don't have one could result in your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. And, if you do have a dental infection, an antibiotic will not resolve whatever underlying issue caused the infection, such as a deep dental cary. That will still need to be corrected, or the infe...

Can u us a tizanidine R 180 white oval pill for a toothache. ## Hello, Chawny! How are you? I'm sorry about the toothache. No, this is a muscle relaxant, not an analgesic, so it won't do anything to help with toothache pain. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness and headache. Have you consulted your dentist? If you have an infection, you're going to need an antibiotic, too.

My tooth ache is getting worse. I had a Diclogem tablet, still did not help. Please advise. ## Hi, Connie! Sorry about the toothache. Have you contacted your dentist? Most toothaches are caused by some type of damage or decay of the tooth and if it's a deep, very painful ache, then it's most likely infected and that's going to require an antibiotic, as well as getting the problem corrected. It isn't going to clear up on its own and trying to take a medication for the pain, without seeing your dentist isn't going to help a lot, because the pain will just keep returning. Dental infections have the potential to be very dangerous, if left untreated, because they can be directly linked to heart disease and heart valve infections, so it isn't a risk that's worth ta...

I have been on 20 mg of Xarelto for about 2 weeks after a week of 30 mg. I have developed pain in my lower jaw. I have seen my dentist who took X-Rays and probed the area. Nothing wrong with my teeth or jaw. Has anyone else experienced this? One of the less common side effects noted on websites is toothache. ## Xarelto has been known to cause joint pain, in some people that take it, as a side effect, and if that is the case, that could also be causing the pain you're describing as a toothache. I have a disorder in my jaw joints called TMJ, and when it acts up, the pain is quite horrible, and I will often feel like I have a toothache, even though I no longer have any teeth to ache, because I have dentures. its a round white pill and it has numbers just on one side the numbers are 54 at the top of the pill and 142 at the bottom of the pill ## If you are not used to taking narcotics, please DO NOT TAKE THIS! This is 10mgs Methadone, a very strong narcotic analgesic, highly addictive and if you are not used to narcotics, then you could end up in the hospital or dead! This is not something that should be taken just for a toothache and no doctor would prescribe it for something that minor, when there are a ton of other options that would help and be much safer.

Hi my wife has severe tooth ache and went to see the doctor. He gave her antibiotic due to the absess the tooth made but said she can only use panado for her tooth and she is pregnant. Panado does not help what else can she take? ## Be sure the antibiotics aren't Tetracycline. It can turn the babies teeth yellow when their teeth come in. She may need to see a dentist. It is difficult to treat someone when they're pregnant because there are two patients instead of one. The Panado may work better after she has had several doses of the antibiotic.

I HAVE A BAD TOOTH ACHE. CAN I TAKE MOX CAPSULES. HOW MANY TIMES IN A DAY ## What is the dosage and active ingredient? Most medications that use Mox in the name contain the antibiotic Amoxicillin, but the duration of treatment and frequency they are taken depends on the dosage and severity of the infection being treated. The medication can also cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and skin rash. Have you consulted a dentist? If there is an infection, this medication can help, but it will not resolve the root of the problem, such as a cavity, that has allowed the tooth to become infected.

The NIH warns that it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, and increased risk of bleeding. However, it is still important to see your dentist and have the underlying cause of the dental pain correct, otherwise, it will keep returning. How often do you experience tooth aches?

I'm very sorry about the tooth ache. While this medication is often prescribed for toothaches, it will not help correct the underlying cause, such as a deep dental cary. So, you still need to see your dentist, as you may actually require an antibiotic, if an infection is present.
