thyroxine sodium tablets 100 mg instead of synthroid 75 mcg
2 Replies RSS
My wife is taking Thyroxin Sodium 100 mg for thyroid manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline India. Now I am in Canada and was taking the same with the consultation of the Doctor. Now the test is done and the thyroid is low. Now the doctor recommended Synthroid 75 mcg. My question is that whether I can take Throxin sodium instead of synthroid. ## Hi Subhash, Based on my research, Synthroid contains Levothyroxine; which is a synthetic version of the thyroid hormone thyroxine. Thyroxine is the natural hormone that is secreted by the thyroid gland. I can understand why you prefer the Thyroxine since it's not synthetic, but if your doctor suggested that you take the Synthroid (75 mcg) I'm sure he/she's just trying to do what's in your best interest. Nonetheless, if you like how the ... ...

Unfortunately, that's one of the hazards from ordering in such a manner, there's really no way of knowing what you may receive. Have you tried contacting the place you ordered from? ...

i have pulmonary embolism for the last 18 months and have been taking warfarin 10mg sometime 12 mg depending on the INR value at 6pm everyday. Now i have been diagonised with thyroditis and been prescribed 50mcg of Thyronorm-thyroxine sodium tablets ip which is taken every morning. I would like to know the side effects of the two tablets . ## The side effects don't normally change when medications are taken together, however, they can aggravate each other, in some cases, making the side effects worse, so you do need to watch for that. Wararin, a generic for Coumadin, is a blood thinner. It's side effects can include: nausea, dizziness and hemmorhage. You can read more on it here: Thyroxine is a thyroid hormone.
