My wife is taking Thyroxin Sodium 100 mg for thyroid manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline India. Now I am in Canada and was taking the same with the consultation of the Doctor. Now the test is done and the thyroid is low. Now the doctor recommended Synthroid 75 mcg. My question is that whether I can take Throxin sodium instead of synthroid. ## Hi Subhash, Based on my research, Synthroid contains Levothyroxine; which is a synthetic version of the thyroid hormone thyroxine. Thyroxine is the natural hormone that is secreted by the thyroid gland. Hypothyroid diagnosed 6 months ago-put on 50mcg when increased to 75mcg I had a nose bleed and felt head pressure.Back down to 50mcg and 75 alternate days. Success-felt lots better for 6 months on 75mcg daily. Recently felt heart hammering and adrenal rushes turned into panic attacks Now on 50 mcg but still shakey. I read somewhere that oestrogen interferes with thyroxine-herbal or HRT. Anyone heard this? ## I see a problem listed with Estrogen, but not the herbal products. A woman relative, around 60 yr of age, taking 100 mcg thyronorm as prescribed by Dr. She has fatty infiltration of liver, small stones in gall bladder, complains of nagging pain on the right lower side (between pelvic region and Liver) suffers from terrible weakness, especially in the morning hours (before breakfast) and is anxious about not getting cured from her condition.
