Hi, I've been prescribed Irbesartan 75 mg plus Amlodipine 5 mg. I'm wondering if it is necessary to take both daily since my BP and cholesterol are okay? I'm 70 years old. I've heard some bad reports on Amlodipine. Does anybody have any experience with these medications? I think Amlodipine was making me nauseous. I also feel that my Dr isn't very interested in my side effects, as I have COPD and asthma as well. Thanks. ## What are your usual blood pressure readings? In most cases, if someone is stable, and their blood pressure is being maintained at good numbers, then there is no reason to add more medications, most doctors usually try to lower the number of medications that someone takes. However, if you've been taking them both all along, then it may be the com...

How are you doing? How low are you blood pressure readings? Are they just occasionally low, or are they low, all the time. It can vary, depending on your activity levels, what you've eaten and etc. Are you on any other medications? need to know if I may take irbesartan150/12 with 81mg aspirin? ## Hello, Rose! How are you? Aspirin and Irbesartan shouldn't be mixed, unless your doctor specifically tells you to do so, they tend to increase the toxicity of each other. The FDA classifies Irbesartan with HCTZ as being most commonly used to help treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain increased urination, dehydration and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am on 150 mg of Irbesartan daily. What time frame should be allotted to wean off this regimen? I wish to discontinue it. ## Why do you want to wean off of it? What condition is being treated? If the medication is the only thing keep the given condition under control, you could be putting your life in danger by discontinuing it according to NIH warnings. It could cause you to experience rebound high blood pressure, and rebound high heart rate, which could result in a heart attack, or stroke, either of which has the potential to be fatal. Are you on any other medications? ## I had to stop 300 mg irbesartan, 10 mg amlodipine and 10 mg prednisone as well as 12 other meds all on the same day with no weaning period as physician would not respond to me or to the pharmacy for renewals. Can 300mg irbesartan tablet be cut in half (abisart brand) ## Hello, Bell! How are you? As long as it isn't time released, then yes, you can cut it, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. However, if it is time released, then no, it is not safe to cut it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been prescribed 75mg irbesartan and take a half tablet daily. There is no split line on these tablets so are they suitable for half dosing?

I've always been able to sit in the sun, but I have noticed when I'm out in the sun my skin starts really burning and stinging. Does Irbesartan cause photosensitivity? ## Almost all medications can cause it, including these ones used to treat blood pressure, and heart conditions, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. It would be best to use sun block, when out in the sun, to be extra cautious. Are you on any other medications?

Are there any warnings or adverse effects from this China-manufactured generic drug? I'm fearful of taking it; and was unable to convince my pharmacy to pursue or supply a U.S. manufactured drug. ## Regardless of where it is manufactured, any given medication must meet the same safety and efficacy standards, in order for the FDA to approve of it being supplied and made available in the U.S. The typical side effects of this medication are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension, the same as the others available. I have noticed unusual symptoms if I forget to take my 225mg dose of Avapro in the morning(which I've done on 3 or 4 occasions over the past 2 years). Also, I recently lowered the dose to 150mg. After 4 days of this, I was in a very nervous state. Because the nervousness was becoming unbearable, halfway through the 4th day of just taking the 150mg, I decided to take the 75mg tablet as well to bring me up to my regular daily dose and, within an hour, my nervousness subsided. Has anybody else had a similar experience? ## Your body gets used to anything that you ingest regularly, be it a prescription drug or your morning cup of coffee and if you suddenly lower your dose or stop taking it, you will suffer some withdrawal effects.

So today is day three of not taking my blood pressure meds (Irbesartan) with Dr approval. This morning my BP was elevated to 136/96 and I have a headache. Is this normal and ok or should I be worried? ## The 96 is a little high, but nothing severely dangerous. Why did your doctor have you stop taking it and how much were you taking? The FDA warns that other withdrawal effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased heart rate. ## was taking 300 mg and I had lost quite a lot of weight. My Bp has been 110/77 so we thought we’d try taking me off to see how I do. I have a Bp machine so I can watch it

i am taking lercanidipine tablets 10mg also irbesartan tablets 300mg also nexium ec tablets 20mg and half asprin. iam suffering from bloating and discomfort in the stomach area. would this combination , or any one of these medications be causing my problem ? ## Have you consulted your doctor? Any of the medications you've listed may cause such side effects, or it may be a combination of taking them all. You really need to talk to your doctor, because the Nexium may not be the right medication to help you prevent this from occurring. Have you tried any other antacids?

I just started taking 75mg of irbesartan..I am fine when I wake up but when I have a black cup of coffee within 30 minutes my lips start swelling...is this common and should I switch medications ## Hello, Graham! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It seems that you may be having an allergic reaction to something, and if that is the case, you need to cease exposure to that substance, because as reported by the NIH, such reactions tend to get worse with repeated exposure. It might be due to the medication, or it could be due to something else, has anything else changed recently? Are you drinking a different brand of coffee? It would be best to have this checked out by your doctor for your safety.

I am taking this 3 medicines - bendroflumethiazide 5mg, spironolactone 25mg, and irbesartan 300mg. For over 10yrs I am having shoulder pain, leg pains but my GP says it is arthritis. I really worry that it imay these medication's causing me this problem. Especially IRBESARTAN. What do think? ## Hello, Earnie! How are you? It could be due to the Irbesartan or the Spironolactone, the latter especially if you're becoming dehydrated. How much fluid do you take in each day? The FDA lists other possible side effects as including nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotension.

My wife was taking Repace 25mg od. She is also suffering from chronic kidney desease (CKD). The doctor has now replaced Repace 25mg. with Irovel 75 mg. OD. Is Irovel a better drug for treating hypertension than Repace for patients suffering from CKD? ## Irovel contains the active ingredient Irbesartan, it is an ARB and these are known to actually help protect the kidneys, so that is likely why her doctor switched her to it. Learn more Irbesartan details here. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Thankyou Verwon

I normally take 20mg benazepril once per day, but I accidentally took two 20 mg doses. Also, I take irbesartan, amlodipine & hydrochlorothiazide. ## Taking a double dose just once isn't likely to cause any serious issues, according to the FDA, but you may experience more nausea, dizziness, headache, and hypotension than usual. However, it is always best to inform your doctor to be safe. Are these the only medications you take? ## Matoporal once daily50mg methylpredison 4mg Tylenol arthritis 1.tablet in the morning 650 mg ## No I take cetirizine, gabapentin, metformin, dilaudid.

I was taking Avalide 300/25. It became unavailable and I was switched to Losartan 100/25. Is this the same dosage? Also what color are the Losartan suppose to be. My Losartan are yellow but I also read were they are suppose to be white. ## Hello, CT! How are you? Yes, the Losartan is stronger than the Irbesartan in the Avalide, so this is an equivalent dosage. And since this is a generic, it is actually available in both yellow and white. Typical side effects to this medication may include nausea, easier bruising, headache, dehydration and increased urination. Is there anything else I can help with?

Having been on Irbesartan (300mg) and Nebivolol (10mg x2 a day) I have now been prescribed Amlodipine for the last 2/3 weeks. Apart from the swollen ankles, along with stiffness and a tight feeling which GP mentioned was a possibility of taking the latter, I am now suffering horrendous cramps in my left thigh and also severe muscular pain in the side of my neck. My blood pressure has certainly improved with the Amlodipine but the disturbed sleep and agony of cramp/muscle pain is becoming unbearable. Should I carry on persevering or see the doc? ## Hello, Sophetta! How are you? Yes, please see your doctor. Some of just can't tolerate Amlodipine, I had similar problems with it and had to switch to another medication. There's a chance things may improve, but in most cases with this...
