I was taking 50 mg of Metoprolol Sandoz. Walmart changed it to 50 mg Metoprolol. It is not managing my BP. It used to be a white pill, and is now pink any body else having problems??? ## My pharmacy just switched mine a couple of days ago, I don't know what the deal is. ## What have your BP readings been that lead you to believe it is not managing it? The bottle from last month for my b.pressure medication lists the name as Metoprol but the bottle I just picked for this month lists the name Metoprolol and the pills aren't the same. I switched to a new pharmacy this month and I thought that might be the reason the pills are different. I am not able to go home now and compare the pills by searching for the description. I have one in my daily medication box and I did search it and it came back as a generic version of Lopressor. I feel my pulse is racing and that my B.P. is going up and I know I NEED to take it now. low pulse, irregular heart beat ## I take both Lisinopril (10 mg daily) and Metoprolol (50 mg daily. 1/2 AM & 1/2 PM) These pills look a lot alike and it is possible to get them mixed up if not cautious. I did this about three times in a row last week. OOPS. But I'm still here and don't feel any side effects. I will be more careful in the future. I switched pharmacies and the pills look different - it didn't concern me, and research says they are the same thing. However, I FEEL different. My heart starts racing, then returns to normal, and I have tremendous pressure in my head. Pharmacy A uses round white pill w/ M 100 on one side, scored on othe. have been on toprol xl (non Generic) for 11 yrs., presc. coverage changed, size of pills discontinued, etc, took metoprolol succ er for 1 month, with no side effects. Taking metoprolol TAB TAR for 8 wks, last four wks, EXTREMELY FATIGUED, some heart palps, just not right, Cardio. wants me to stop taking completely despite all warings not to do that, and without prescribing anything different. I have been taking metoprolol for 10 years, heart rate hovers between 60-62 and b/p well controlled. Received new tablet as noted above, and now experiencing shortness of breath, tachycardia, and b/p 150/100. Could this be something other than metoprolol? ## Yes, the tablet with that marking is a 50mg Metoprolol extended release tablet. However, there can be difference between generic medications, so you may not be getting quite the same dosage of the active ingredient that you were used to, or you could be having a reaction to an inactive ingredient that you aren't used to. After switching from Metoprolol 25 mg by Mylan to Metoprol Tar 25 mg by Caraco palpitations & tachycardia have returned to an extent, after only a week. Can there by that much difference? ## There can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic manufacturer to another, so there is a chance that there is enough difference in the dosage to cause you to experience such symptoms. Learn more Metoprolol details here. The issue, of course, is that these symptoms have the potential to be dangerous. Have you talked to your doctor? They may need to adjust your dosage. Are they both the regular release formulation of the medication? No ER, SR, XR or anything like that listed on the prescription bottles? ## There is nothing else on the bottle, like ER, etc.

I use to take lopressor, the long pink pill. They switched me to metoprolol succinate 2 yrs ago. I liked the brand name lopressor better as it had no side effects and kept my blood pressure down. The insurance company said they stopped making the original lopressor then. But now I heard they are back on the market.
