Sudafed False Positive For Methamphetamine

I took a generic medication called mucus relief PE sinus conjestion. 2 days after taking it i failed a drug test for meth. What could have caused it to come up positive? ## Well, I can't check the specific medications, since you didn't list what you took, but there are some cold remedies on the market that can give false positives for Methamphetamine. In recent times I have taken Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Valium, Soma, Testosterone, Nexium, Amlodipine, Fenofibrate, Chantix, Aspirin, Sudafed, Nasal Spray, Lidoderm Patches, Voltaren gel, NyQuil, milk of magnesia, metamucil, Whey Protein and Multi vitamins. Why is it coming up as a dirty urine? ## The nasal spray can make a false positive for meth. Not sure about " Crystal" meth. How do you prove you only take sudafed when you show a false positive drug test for methamphetamine and you never did drugs except sudafed 120mg 2x daily non drowsy ## Ask for a GC/MS confirmation test. It's the "gold standard" use the gas chromatography mass spectrometry method....... I went and had a urinalysis done, it came back positive for Methamphetamine. I took a dollar store pain reliever, sinus meds, and Seroquel. Could this cause a bad urine test? ## I had a positive result for amphetamine, amphetamines and methamphetamine. I do not do drugs !!! I am a nurse and lost my job. My daily medications are: 200 mcg synthroid in the morning, seroquel 100 mg at hs, Xanax 1 mg 3 times a day but only take 2 mg with seroquel at bedtime for sleep and occasionally 1 prn, 20 mg Lasik prn, 20 meq potassium prn, vitamin b-12 1 time a day, Sudafed prn, albuterol 2 puffs daily prn and had just had a work evaluation that I got excellent on all levels. Someone please explain to me why a company would do this !!!!

What you have listed as your medications (especially the Sudafed, Adderall, and nasal spray) are most likely the reasons that your lab work came back positive. If possible, your best bet would be to show proof that you are prescribed these medications, or a doctor's note, so that they can see the reason for such results. My daughter failed a drug test. She claimed she only took bc powder, ibuprophen, and trazodone..... Can phenylephrine show a false positive for phentermine? ## I just got bacl from my p.o. And I put clean urine in a nasal spray bottle because I thought it would be easy to get away with... Well I ended up failing for suboxone so I don't recommend anyone doing that. Just a warning... ## I took Sudafed PE the day before I had my monthly drug test and it didn't show up as a false positive for anything. They do say that the phenylephrine may cause a false positive for methamphetamine but it didn't on me. I asked the nurse about this when I went in and she told me if you buy the Sudafed that's behind the counter that you have to sign for that. It will show up as methamphetamine because it's what people use to make methamphetamine. Hope that helps you out.

Taking robitussin, nyquil, extra-strength aleve, sudafed, sudafed pm, cold/flu alka-seltzer, aspirin, tylenol, ibuprofen, norco, afrin, albuterol sulfate inhalant, Ipratopium bromide and albuterol sulfate inhalant, and afrin. Would any of these cause a false positive for amphetamine/methamphetamine? And if so, on what type of drug test(s)?

I just spoke with a pharmacist gave him a list of the meds I have been taking : morphine 30mg, diovan, hydrochlorothizide, valsartan, hydrocodone 10/325, bisopropolol, sudogest, pseudoephederine, aleve, pain reliever pm. He says none of these will cause false positive urine test results for methamphetamine although I keep testing positive and I have not used any of that stuff! Can you tell me why this is happening cause my po is going to throw me in jail. I really need help with this please ## Since you took sudafed, that could have caused it. Sudafed is used as an ingredient in methamphetamine. That's why you have to give them your ID just to buy it. Request a more detailed test, and it will show that an otc drug caused it to pop up as positive.

I take adderall er 20mg 2 tabs each morning. Also: Combivent, advair diskus, dulera, clonidine, quetapine, lisinopril, metoprolol, montelukast, sumstriptan, Sudafed and flunisolide. Can these interact and show up positive for Methamphetamine on a mouth swab drug test?

I am clean but probation says i tested positive for Methamphetamine. what med or combination could have caused it? ## I have heard that sudafed (pseudo ephedrine) can cause false positives for meth. Google it and see what you come up with but I have heard this more times than I can count. I don't have any experience since I never take cold/sinus medication. Too many I am allergic to so I stay away from all of them. Good luck and let me know what you find out. It's crazy, but it seems the more "scientifically correct" these drug screens get the more false positives come back for various drugs. I am taking this medication along with levothyroxine for my thyroid and xanax for anxiety. Is it possible that these drugs mixed together along with sudafed can cause a false reading for methamphetamines on a swab test? ## It is highly possible that it was just caused by the Sudafed. The Pseudoephedrine in some of their formulations has been known to cause false positives for various types of Amphetamines, including Methamphetamine, since it is actually a distant relative. Please explain this for me. I haven't done any drugs, just the medications listed? The celexa Tylenol b12 extreme zinc potassium naproxen and some sort of sinus pill few days ago? They are basically anhydrous caffeine. Its actually like drinking 2 cups of coffee tops.
