Suboxone Half Life

Random question...I have a place where I keep all my meds and I was bedridden today so my dad had to get my dose for today for me. I had a sub in there and he was supposed to give me my Oxycodone today. I am sure he gave me the sub by accident. I took it at 11am does anyone know how long the half life of that would be so I know when my Oxycodone will work again? I am hurting pretty badly! I've never taken subs before so I don't know a thing about them. ## It usually takes about 3 days, before other opiates will work for you, again. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

How do I best stop using this crap. Been trying to do less and less. I had shoulder surgery got onto perks and vikes. Long term stuff but weened myself off. This one isnt so easy. Thinking I should have done this tge hard way rather than try other folks advice. Any suggestions? ## Hi Mark, It really depends on how much your taking per day. Subs have the long half life so that makes things so much different then the usual pain pill wd. I can tell you this, when you get down to 3 or 4mgs you should not drop more than a half mg at a time. You need to wait until your body feels comfortable on that dose. I,m talking a week at the least. It,s because of the half life. It takes a long time but well worth it. If you do this the jump will be fairly easy.

I have been a suboxone/subutex patient for over 8 years. I just stopped 8 months ago and since then I have been in and out of mental wards. I feel like ppl are trying to kill me. I'm paranoid constantly.. I feel like there is some big conspiracy about me. I also abused my scripted of adderall for 5 yrs. off for 8 months as well. Idk what to do. I can't tell what's real or fake in life, seems like everything is a set up. My brother died less than 2 yrs ago. I had 2 babies born on suboxone. I just don't know if it's really ppl setting me up or if it's my brain off drugs. I'm half tempted to go back on just to see. Anyone out there take suboxone this long?? What's your experiences? Help I'm going nuts. ## Hello, Sheryl! How are you? Unfortunately, such t...

I took 4 mg (half of 8) Suboxone last night before going to bed and I swallowed it while I was sleeping by mistake. I typically don't swallow it and I don't take more than what I'm supposed to take. I woke up after a few hours extremely nauseous feeling like I'm going to throw up. I know it's because I swallowed it. I did eat a decent amount before going to bed. How can I get this nauseous feeling to go away? Am I going to have to make myself throw up? ## No it should pass quite quickly. I sometimes take mine in the morning and do the same thing, I can tell because when I burp I can taste them again. But no harm will come to you. Subs 1/2 life probably means that you will still have enough in your system, if you get physical withdrawals take a small amount however I ...

Started sub 3 months ago today at 12mg. Started tapering 2 months ago. 4 weeks ago I was at 4mg. and have dropped 1 mg per week. Took my last 1mg this morning. Noticed people been asking about coming off this stuff. I,ll keep you all informed about how my jump feels. Not expecting anything for a few days because of the half life. Just to let you know I didn,t feel much bettween tapers until I got down to 1mg. and I gotta tell you that it was just about nothing. Not thinking jump will be too bad, maybe mild discomfort I hope. I know it,ll be nothing like past oxy wds. ## Day 4: Hasn,t been too bad yet. Except for the sleep thing whitch I HAVE been getting some kind of feels like about a med. alcohol hangover. Those subs are some weird s#it. I ain,t knocking them because they helped me ge...

The last 2 years of taking suboxone I have had severe anxiety which has caused me to really go threw way too much Xanax. I have just found out that naloxone has a lot of side effects that I have had and have been suffering from. What should I tell my suboxone doctor who I would think should know this ive told them 100s of times all the symptoms and I actually think their are more side effects than reported I noticed when I abruptly stopped taking them that the itching and tingling in my face was gone which was an everyday thing I also am wondering if it has caused me other serious side effects not reported like my periods are out of whack and unusual im 43 and my whole life I have always been pretty skinny. But in this last year and a half I have put on close to 50 pounds out of nowhere...

I have been taking suboxone for a week, only 8 mg a day, but over 24 hours ago i only took a half of a 8 mg strip, will I be able to feel pain mess now. It's been 28 hrs since i took half strip. ## @Akc, Due to buprenorphine's long half life of 24 - 60 hours (as reported by samhsa.gov), I would probably encourage you to wait a little longer in-between stopping suboxone and starting narcotic pain meds in order to get the most out of them. If still in doubt you could also take a drug panel to gauge how much suboxone is left in your body. But that might be more trouble than it's worth v.s. just waiting it out for an extra day or two. I hope this helps! Please post back if you're able to update us on how things went.

I have been on Subs for about 2 years now and really want off of them! However now i am reading that Sub Withdraws are worse than the Oxycodone i had been taking. which only makes sense because of the half life and what not of Suboxone. I do not really want to taper down because i am just Horrible at such a thing which is why i started taking Suboxone in the first place! My Dr should really have told me to only take it for the first 2-4 weeks. I am looking for something i can take for 2-3 maybe 4 weeks to help cut me off of Suboxone COLD TURKEY! besides Opioids obviously! Anyone out there have something in mind or have experience? ## Hi Chef, Sorry to hear about your situation. I agree that it's so wrong for these doctors to be taking advantage of patients by prescribing suboxone fo...

I have been on oxytocin 80 mg, 4 a day and decided I would try suboxon for 5 days my life has been filled with energy and no pain, I have no more yet. I can pick up my 20mg oxycodone tomorrow, my last half of a 2mg sub was takin at 4am this morning, will I be able to take those and go back to my 80mg and oxytocintomorrow or should I wait? I have my 80 mg now any advice will help, please ## Hello, Jake! How are you? It usually takes about 72 hours (3 days) for other opiates to become effective again, after having taken Suboxone. I took an 1/8 or less of a 8/2mg suboxone. I did not take it to get off opiates but to ease through wds until i get my script filled tomorrow This is my first time ever taking suboxone. Will such a low dose prevent me from feeling my percocet in 20hrs? ## I don't have personal experience on the matter, but I'd imagine that the Suboxone wouldn't have had much time to accumulate in your system since you've only been taking it for a couple days now. According to wiki, the elimination half-life of buprenorphine lies anywhere between 20 to 73 hours (or about 37 hours on avg). If you want to play it safe you should probably give it an extra day and trust your intuition on the timing of your dose. Everyone's metabolism is different, but this way you'd at least know for ...

I've been on methadone for 260 days. I got up to 90. I then tapered down 2 a day until I got to 60. Then went down 5 every Monday. I took 20 on monday at 6am and haven't had anything since. It's now thursday. My withdraws were s****y but now are getting a bit better NOT worse. Can I start my suboxone yet? It's been over 72 hours since my last methadone dose. Please help!! ## According to commentary in related threads here, the overall consensus significantly varies as to how long one should wait before taking suboxone after methadone. Many people have suggested waiting a minimum of 72 hours (3 days) due to methadone's long half life. Others have stated that they were fine waiting only 10 hours. I suppose only you and your prescribing doctor can be your best judge of ...

I was put on suboxone after two years of narcotics from three bad and failed shoulder surgeries. I started in March, April was on 1 pill a day and May 2 weeks 1/2 pill 2 weeks 1/4 my last dose was thursday. my shoulder dislocated again and need something but I don't want to be ill. any suggestions? the pharmacist says its out in 24-36 hrs but now I don't know. any suggestions? ## The main concern is actually the Naloxone, since that is what neutralizes opiates to prevent anyone abusing them, while they are under treatment with the Suboxone. Naloxone actually has a fairly short half-life of only a little over an hour and it takes approximately 5 to 6 half-lives for something to be eliminated from the body, so it would be gone in about 6 to 7 hours. The Buprenorphine, which is the...

My boyfriend has been taking suboxone for over a year now. somewhere between 2mg to 8mg. i think its around 6. he decided to detox himself. so he loaded up on klonopin, nuerontin and colonadine. sorry about the spelling. he went 9 days without the suboxone the first few were pretty easy then the 5th day he was supposedly getting sick. so he tried scoring some more at the 9 day mark. i basically called all his drug dealers and convinced them to stop selling to him. he got furious and went chasing looking. not sure if he scored or not. After 9 days off shouldnt he have been clean and not feeling "deathly" ill. ## Hi Sophia, Suboxone has a very long half life. When I,ve jumped from subs in past I really didn,t feel too bad till about day 4. Everyones different. Some people don,t st...

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and has any knowledge that might help. I have been an opiate addict for roughly 15 yrs. and 2 yrs. ago I started taking Suboxone. I also take Adderall. The first year and a half I felt great but recently I feel like I'm close to death. I am majorly depressed and have lost all interest in life. I don't know if its the meds or just the state of mind I'm in. Anyone who has been through this please give me some advice. ## I was not on suboxone at the time but I started adderall and within 1 week I had the worst depression of my life. I read online and it made sense that since adderall makes you Focus on things, if there's anything negative in your life while taking it you might focus on that bad thing and hate yourself. Stop tak...

I took 15 milgrams of methadone after not taking any in over 2 years am I ok to take a piece of a suboxson ## The answer to this may be different for each individual (as far as how long to wait), but if it were me I'd probably try to wait 3 days for methadone to be excreted, due to it's long half-life. Other patients on here may feel differently though. Based on your situation I have a feeling you'll be alright to take suboxone sooner than later, but if in doubt I would still encourage you to contact your prescribing doctor first, just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps!

Is there any interaction with essential oils and suboxone?? Since I have been using the oils along with probiotics, it seems as if the half life of the suboxone does not last as long, and I thing that may be due to the detoxing effects of both probiotics and essential oils. I know you may not know since these two detoxers are not approved by BIG FARMA, which I believe is tainted anyway, but thank you for your time and reading my?? ## Suboxone and rexulti interactions if taken together ## Hello, I'm not sure about the actual interaction between the suboxone itself as there doesn't seem to be a solid case study done on this but I was able to find that there was at least one case study done by the National Institute of Health that shows a direct relationship between decreased opioi...

I took an 8mg suboxone strip this morning around 8 am and im still in withdrawal and it is now 5:30. Can i take a oxycodone without throwing myself into hard withdrawal? I had different people tell me different things. ## Hi tara, Timing is really going to vary for each individual, so that's probably why you keep hearing different feedback. However my opinion based on the reviews I'm seeing here on MedsChat is that it might be a good idea to wait at least a few days after taking the Subuxone before having an opiate like Oxycodone. I think this is largely due to Buprenorphine's long half life of 24 - 60 hours, as reported by samhsa.gov. So as long as the Suboxone is still active in your body, that seems to me like the best way to determine whether it's ok take Oxycodone o...

Does the Company Actavis Elizabeth LLC offer any discounts or copay like the brand name Suboxon strips do?. I ask b/c the new white sublingual (half moon 155) pill, still cost more than the name brand sublingual films do. I cant use my $50 copay i use on the suboxone film. it comes out to be $130 more a month for this generic. Please Help if u know. have no insurance! ## No, such assistance things aren't generally offered for generic medications, except in the case of some that are considered to be life sustaining. Normally, generics are cheaper, just by the nature of being generic. However, if the price is cheaper for you when getting the name brand, you may want to ask your doctor if they can write 'brand medically necessary' on the prescription, so your pharmacy has to gi...

I took a suboxone 8mg and I have some serious pain. Will vicodin work on the pain or not? I am not looking to feel high, this pain is horrible. ## Hi Cheryl, Sorry to hear about your challenges with pain. From what I'm reading in other related discussion threads here, the general consensus I've gathered is that most patients recommend waiting an estimated 48 to 72 hours to reap the full effectiveness of their pain meds after Suboxone. This is in part due to Buprenorphine's long half life of 24-60 hours (est.), which has a higher affinity than other opioids on your receptors. I hope this helps! ## i have been taking 80 mg of oxycontin and 60 mg of oxycodone day for 7 years due to back pain.i stopped last week and started suboxene. How long after taking 8mg suboxone can u take methadone ## Hello, Michael! How are you? It usually takes about 3 days, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## BE CAREFUL! Precipitated withdrawl will happen if you take it too soon. I don't know your dose of methadone you have tapered off the Half-Life of that poison is @least 72 hrs or more. Depends on alot. How much how long how you metabolized the stuff. I speak from experience. Personally I would give it a wk.Good luck! ## A doctor at a methadone clinic once told me I can go right from Suboxone to methad...
