I have an open wound It burns. I have been cleaning with peroxide and using neosporin It's now red around it. Don't know how I got it. Also have tiny red spots. .maybe ant bites or poison ivy. They itch. Because of these I can't sleep. I have a few SMZ/TMP. Can I use them.? ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? In most cases, when it is used, it's just for the initial cleaning of the wound, but usually, your better off just cleaning it with soap and water. Have you consulted your doctor? You should have this checked out, especially since it's gotten red around it and you have those other tiny spots. This might not be the right antibiotic to... ...

I started feeling sick last week, but thought nothing of it. Went to the dr on Wed. and up until then I had no fevers. Was prescribed SMZ/TMP. She really couldn't diagnose me at that time. I started it Wed. night. Went back to work on Thurs. and had to leave mid morning. I could barely stand up straight. I kept doubling over. By the time I got home fever of 103. Still on med, but continue to get fevers of low grade. Continue to double over. My urine is dark yellow, almost orange. Is that because of the med? ## I had similar symptoms when taking it and it turned out to be a bad reaction that only got worse, when I didn't connect it to the antibiotic right away. However, it shouldn't be taken, unless your doctor has confirmed the presence of an infection and prescribed it for you. Taking it improperly could cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. I took one (it was a large white one with a slice indent in it In two hours I vomited it up. ## Hello, Elaine! How are you? That can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, you may also experience dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Did you actually see the pill in your emesis?
