is hydroco/apap 5-325 mg stronger than BUTALBITAL, ACETAMINOPHEN, CAFFEINE, AND CODEINE tablets i have BUTALBITAL, ACETAMINOPHEN, CAFFEINE, AND CODEINE tablets for migraine headaches. I had a very bad fall and hurt my arm, shoulder and knee. they gave me hydroco/apap 5-325 mg for the pain. Which of the two is stronger for pain relief? ## Hello, Ann! How are you? Codeine is actually very weak, so for that type of pain, you'll most likely be better off with the Hydrocodone that they've prescribed, it is much stronger and better able to handle the pain from an injury, such as that which occurred due to your fall. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is ...

Hi going thru tough benzo withdraw and wanting to know if butal/acetamin/caf codeine will be ok ## Hi Rick, Sorry to hear about the withdrawals. From what I could gather, Fioricet w/ Codeine (Butalbital + Acetaminophen + Caffeine) is marketed for use in relieving tension headaches and pain. Apparently the caffeine is what works to relieve headache pain, while butalbital and acetaminophen work together to help relieve general pain, relax muscles, as well as decrease anxiety. The codeine, I imagine, would just be an added boost to these effects. So depending on what types of symptoms you're experiencing in regards to benzo withdrawal, then it seems to me that this medication may help to alleviate those one's mentioned above in particular. I hope this helps and wish you a quick rec...

I have been on Oxycodone/Acetaminophen 10-325MG, taking 4 daily for about a year for back problems. Recently I ran out for a couple of days and have been feeling like I am going through detox. My doctor has been out of office until tomorrow. My wife has a script of Butalbital/Acetaminophen/Caffeine/Codeine 50-300-40-30. Could I take one of these to take the edge off until tomorrow? ## The closest ingredient related is the Codeine, but it is much weaker than Oxycodone, it is a very mild opiate. I have Ulcerative Colitis. Had a Migraine, took a Butal Caf and felt normal 1st time in 2 years! Ever heard of this? Also I have NO side effects from Butal. ## Hi Lainy, Based on my research, the combination of butalbital + acetaminophen + caffeine is intended as a treatment for tension headache. It is also commonly prescribed for migraines and other pain related ailments - although it is "not FDA indicated" for these uses in the U.S. On another note, the prescribing information for this drug recommends contacting your doctor before using this medication if you happen to have any abdominal/stomach problems (such as: stomach ulcer, colitis). From what I'm seeing, it's hard to say if those with colitis should even be taking this medication, but if you sense that it's w...
