There are two issues here, the first is that it is never a good idea to take another medication to try to treat a side effect that has been caused by a different one. Doing that just tends to compound the side effect problems. And the second issue is that the weight problem will continue, as long you keep taking the Remeron, so you'd just really be trying to fight a losing battle. The best thing to do, if they Remeron has caused you to gain a significant amount of weight would be to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication, such as Prozac, that isn't known to cause weight gain. Hi, I am 47 years of age , male and have anxiety disorder. I have been using Remeron 30mg for almost a year and a half with mild effect. My doctor then prescribed symgen 30mg as well which leads to heavy heart palpitations and something like a shortness of breath in the mornings (This is the only way I can describe it.) Taking viibryd and remeron. The remeron is at night though to help with sleep.....not working as of yet. Waking up in the middle of the night soaking wet in sweat. Viibryd is 20mg in the morning. Remeron helps me sleep great at night but doesnt help control my mood swings in the day though.. my doctor said it was a mood stabalizer and would help but yet I still see nothing! I still stay irritable during the day.. and I also take zoloft during the day but still nothing! So as far as remeron being a mood stabalizer its bull to me but does help me sleep, thats just about all it does ## Hello, Chrisyy! How are you? Zoloft is an SSRI antidepressant and Remeron is an NSS antidepressant, so based on that I can only guess that they just aren't the right medications to help your irritability. Have you talked to your doctor? You might want to ask them about trying an SNRI or a tetracyclic antidepressant.

Please help me. I have gastroparises and a small hiatal hernia above stomach. I have been having sever esphagus spasms (clamping), to were I can't hardly swollow and then it becomes so intense I feel bruised down the entire esophagus. The doctor recommended Remeron to correct this. I have in past taken different meds to help with menieres most of them have been in this drug category - we discussed this after I lost my job and three years of my life sleeping on an antidepressant - I am not sure that I ever want to put this class of drugs in my body again. Does the Remeron relieve or cure the esphagus clamping the pain level is a ten and it is frightening. Please help. Do u know of something else that could help !

Has anyone ever experienced anger/rage while taking Remeron? I recently tapered off Cymbalta slowly while introducing Remeron. I’m having extreme bouts of rage with no regard to anything, very far from the person I normally am. I don’t know if this is being caused by Cymbalta withdrawal or the Remeron. By the way - the week where I was on 15 Remeron and 15 cymbalta I was very energetic and positive, hyper productive. Obviously something is not right here. Could it be that this is just what I’m like without Cymbalta? Am I rapid cycling? What happened to the Remeron from Organon? This new stuff is making me depressed. I can't think straight. Why has Merck changed to another manufacturer? I have been prescribed Remeron 15mg and Klonopin 0.5 for anxiety and lack of sleep. After 40 days I still have too much anxiety and racing thoughts to fall asleep, and I've gained no weight. So my Dr put me on Seroquel XR 150 mg one week ago (Aug 14) and will be able to fill a new Rx for Ativan to try on Aug 30 once the Klonopin Rx is "completed". The Klonopin no longer helps with anxiety as I get those dreaded warm rushes of pain the fill my face, neck, chest, and arms even after I take one. I'm reaching out for help because as I transition from Remeron to Seroquel it's still hard to fall asleep and the grogginess during the day is torture. I want to know if there is any documented interaction between these two medications. I was prescribed the Remeron (30 mg) to take it at night and the Nuvigil (150 mg) in the morning. I have been experiencing a strange sensation when I move my head quickly or go up/down the steps. The sensation leaves me for a brief second feeling as if I was on a boat or on a wave. I also experience increased ringing in my ears but no pain. I don't have headaches but the sensation is very uncomfortable. My doctor doesn't seem to think it is due to the medications and that perhaps there may be something affecting my balance system which has not been identified yet. I am 52-year-old man. I take Remeron (Mirtazapine) for anxiety and depression. I started to use this medication about one week ago. I take the medication in the evening. I read in the patient information leaflet that I should not drink alcohol. How many hours after I take the medication is it safe to drink? Sometimes I drive to work by car. When I had the medication dispensed in the pharmacy, they said that the medication can cause drowsiness. Can I drive If I use this medication? Hello, I need help to understand how this antidepressant works for anxiety. I am suffering from severe anxiety (suspected hyperadrenergic postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome - hyper pots) which causes my heart rate to increase by 30-50 beats per minute upon standing, along with a blood pressure increase, and so it's hard for me to even stand because of heart palpitations, fatigue, dizziness, etc; and so i lay in my bed for 22-23 hours daily for 8 months, my muscles are GONE, & I am only existing. Would the combination of either of these medications cause fainting? I now take 5 mg of Abilify per day. I took my last pill of 100 mg fluconazole on yesterday ; also took a 3.50mg of remeron last night.. This morning I stared the 4mg of cyproheptadine. by the afternoon I fainted. I have not been eating as I should. I am very concerned now. I am now taken off of remeron, but will continue the Abilify and Cyproheptadine. ## Hi, Keanna! Sorry that you fainted.
