wine with meals is it alright to drink wine with my meals while i .am on jantoven? my heart doctor says it is ok ? my regular doctors says to drink only half glass a day. I only drink red wine with my meals. ## Hello, Joseph! How are you? My cardiologist also says that it's okay, in moderation, of course. But, it is normal for a doctor to want you to be cautious, especially a PCP. Most people tell them they don't drink, or they only drink one or two glasses, when they are really drinking far more. For you, the biggest issue is that wine can also cause some blood thinning, which could be problematic with the Jantoven. The FDA classifies it as a blood thinner and its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, easy bruising and increased risk of bleeding. Really,...

I am taking the drug levetiraceta and wondering if it will hurt to drink a glass of red wine at night as I was before about 4 times a week? Could the alcohol cause the seizure or have a reaction with the drug? doctor unclear? ## Everyone is different with alcohol and epilepsy drugs. I'm on 2 types of epilepsy meds, an anti-depressant, and medication for ADHD, so I rarely drink at all. However, my neuro says if you do "1 alcohol drink, max!" Basically the alcohol doesn't cancel out your medication, but the medication can increase the effects of alcohol. Most epilepsy meds are depressants, so keep that in mind. ## Alcohol is known to cause more severe side effects, when combined with many prescription medications, according to FDA reports, which may include nausea, dizzine...

I have been taking 25mg Losartan ea. morning for two months but now I've read that I should not have any alcohol...does this mean I have to give up my wine with dinner each evening? ## Hello, Miranda! How are you? Well first, have you had any problems so far taking the medication and having a glass of wine with your dinner? Except in a couple of rare cases, the concern about combining most medications with alcohol is that it can aggravate the side effects, so you may feel more dizzy, drowsy and nauseous than usual. celebrated anniversary and consumed 2 glasses of red wine while on Tramadol. Was this ok as it specifically warns not to on the label?? ## The reason that warning is on the label is because combining it will alcohol can worsen the side effects of the medication, so you may experience much more dizziness, drowsiness and nausea than usual. It kind of makes one drink equal to 2 and so on. Additionally, both the Acetaminophen and the alcohol can have detrimental effects on your liver, though it is doubtful that any long term harm was caused by just two glasses of wine. However, if you are concerned, then consult your doctor to be on the safe side. Learn more Tramadol details here. Learn more Acetaminophen details here. Almost everybody here talks about drinking much. My question is if I take a simple cup of red wine after my dinner at 8 and then take my sulfa at 12. I really do not think that a cup of good red table wine would be so disastrous as some readers have commented. Thank you. ## I think your intuition is correct - moderation is the key. One cup of red wine should not result in a bad reaction, although it may increase certain effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, or upset stomach. Be sure to learn about the possible side effects from the drug itself so that you can monitor how you feel and report any adverse effects to your doctor if need be. My mom were planning to buy a Resveratrol Supp. particularly a MX Resveratrol Complex. How true it's a great way to get an optimal amounts of resveratrol everyday without drinking 13 glasses of red wine or eating too much dark chocolates? I've found out .. aside of improving heart health and lowering glucose and cholesterol. It also offers a fantastic alternative for maintaining youth and vitality. How true?? Hmm.. Anyone?? ## My sister used that before for lowering her cholesterol as well as on boosting her immune system. Yap! It's true that it has the same amount of Resveratrol as 13 glasses of red wine. ## In my opinion supplementing with Resveratrol isn't a bad choice at all (just expensive). Hi, I am rx'd ntrexone for alcoholism and it's working, reducing cravings and all. I was a half a bottle of vodka type drinker. Now, when I take one shot of vodka, I get really sick and nauseous. Does this happen to anyone else? I thought naltrexone allowed you to still drink, but reduces alcohols effect on your pleasure receptors. I tried switching to beer or wine and still get sick. I guess that's a good thing but was wondering if anyone else feels this side effect when the drs and drug companies say it does not make you sick like Antabuse. Thanks. ## Hello, Meg! How are you? Naltrexone can cause nausea as a side effect and combining it with alcohol will intensity that side effect. I've been on 10mg of Brintellix for 3 weeks now after a week of taking 5mgs. Initially the nausea was bad in the morning, but that has recently improved a lot. My experience so far is that it has drastically reduced my anxiety spikes and it's incredible to no longer be at the mercy of those horrible gripping pangs in my solar plexus. I used to drink quite a lot of wine over weekends because I found it helped with my social anxiety (despite facing the consequences of malaise the following day!) But did not feel the urge to have any wine this weekend and was not as much in need of something to relax and enjoy myself. My boyfriend complained that I was a bit of a zombie the first week or so, but I feel increasingly sharper and more able to think on my feet and remember stuff. So far I

I am taking the antibiotic suflameth/trimethoprim. I have been taking Yaz for less then a week so I am still getting to know the basics about the pill. I just had a couple glasses of wine and I questioned myself the effectiveness... Now to be honest I am NOT taking Yaz for it's birth control purpose. Doctor prescribed it for Hormonal issues, to be specific HIRUTISM & ACNE. Also Doc said it's OK I can have a couple of drinks with Yaz but I was just wondering if it will continue helping me with my issues, not as a contraceptive per se. I do like my wine I admit. A glass or two most 'normal' days. Sometimes 5/6 glasses at occasions like weddings etc. So my question is will Yaz continue reducing the hairs if I drink? thanks in advance. ## Yes, alcohol is not known to alter its efficacy, as reported by the U.S. FDA. I am comfortable with my own regimen. I have started dieting (I tend to avoid whole grains in my diet). I eat more eggs and then full 8 liters of water a day. I have yet to try jojoba oil but I guess there is no need as my cream (SR Lotion) already contains a blend of jojoba oil and lactic acid. For two months now I have used SR Lotion to manage the red patches and the dryness. So far it works very well in controlling the flare ups. I understand SR Lotion is an excellent treatment, but not a cure, and a lot of times I am wondering what else I can do to support my regimen. I try avoiding wine and everything that has alcohol content. I don't know why it tends to make me rosier. What else is bad when you have rosacea?
