I was given A weeks dose of nitrofurantoin 100 mg for UTI and on the last 3 days my skin has been uncontrollably itchy. Small bumps, all through out my legs and arms. The itching seems to become more intense at night. Even a day after I've stopped the antibiotics. When will this stop? Should I see a doctor? ## Hi Kristina, Sorry to hear about your situation. Based on my research, the US National Library of Medicine does actually list itching as an allergic reaction from taking nitrofurantoin. Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMHT0011428/?report=details#side_effects However this is something that you should probably contact your doctor about as soon as possible if the symptoms don't go away on their own or become too bothersome/severe (which from your description seems like tha...

I developed a rash on my legs when I went for my physio. It is now nearly all over and it itches and makes the rash worse when I scratch. I am on a lot of meds for arthritis, heart and blood pressure. ## What medications do you take? There is a chance that it might be due to one of them. If you can post back with the names of them, I can check the side effect information on them provided by the NIH reports. It could also be an allergic reaction to something. What type of physio procedures did they do?

I've noticed i have a blotchy rash on my left calf that has the clot. Is that anyway related to the clots or the Xaralto? I also noticed my voice is hoarse,is that a side effect of the medication? ## Hello, Lori! How are you? The rash is a listed side effect, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising. However, hoarseness is not, though it does list dry throat and sore throat, which could be causing it. Either way, just in case your having an allergic reaction, you should have these checked out, to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with?

Ugly rash on torso legs and arms, Dr no help. Had knee blood clot, gone now. Been off liquids over a month. Does anyone know what can be done and will they go away. ## Dottie again. Been off eloquis (not liquids) darn spell correct... ## Hello, Dottie! How are you? No worries, I am fluent in typonese! LOL Anyway, at this point, I am suspicious that the rash might not be due to the Eliquis and you may need to consult a dermatologist to get to the bottom of it. There are various things that could cause it, such as laundry detergents, soaps, body washes and shampoos. Have you recently switched anything that you use? Is the rash itchy?

I woke up with a horrible bladder infection on Monday of last week, I went to the doctors and they gave me a perception for nitrofur mono macro. I started taking it the following day, (Tuesday) .. By Friday evening I noticed a small rash on my inner right thigh. I didn't think anything of it because I had shaved my legs earlier that day and I thought it was just a little bit of razor burn.. As the night went on, the once a quarter size rash turned into about a 4 inch in diameter circle in the same spot.. I also has a small rash that looked exactly the same behind each knee and a smaller circle on the other thigh. Along with a patch of it on each upper arm, the size of the front of my whole upper arm, all of the rash spots were itchy.. So I called and had my doctor change my prescrip...

I have been on Contrave for 5 days. 2 days ago, I noticed a splotchy rash on my buttocks, legs and around my armpits. It does not itch. My doctor does not know what it is and the only thing new is this medication. Has anyone else experienced this side effect? If so, does it resolve on its own? ## I'm in week five of taking Contrave. I had no side effects until I started the week 5 dosing (2 tabs twice a day). I developed a blotchy red rash mostly on my forearms. Ive list 10 lbs so far so I'm staying on the Contrave. Bum just going to try taking ZYRTEC to are if it relieves the rash. ## A rash is listed by the FDA as a possibly side effect of Contrave. I have had a rash on my lower legs for two months. The rash has now on my back and bottom. I have tried everything I can think of to stop the itching. I was prescribed to antibiotics by my doctor and different creams. Nothing has helped. It is now nearly three months with this problem. Will deselex help? ## Hello, Charmaine! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're experiencing. It may help, it is an antihistamine that's used to treat or prevent allergic reactions. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Have you tried changing your laundry detergent? Or trying a different skin soap? It could be something like that causing the rash.

I woke up 3 nights ago with both arms covered by what appeared to be mosquito bites. I was mystified, nut thought it might be poison ivy. The next morning, I called my BCBS hotline, who identified this an allergic reaction. I called my doctor, who took me off of lisinopril and wnats me to try taking nothing for a week, then start 2.5 mg amlodipine if necessary. I have minor rash (itchy) on my legs every morning. How long will this continue? I stopped taking fish oil, a recent addition, in case this was the culprit. I also got a severe rash from hyzaar blood pressure medecine. I have also been taking very low doses of xanax for a year now. ## Unfortunately, allergic reactions are always possible, and if you've had a reaction already to a medication, in the past, there is a good chance...

I took macrobid for a UTI. On the last day I thought I had the flu. Chills, fever, exhaustion, a little nausea and a little pain. The second day of the flu I went to the doctor, and noticed I had a rash developing on my legs. We thought the rash was unrelated to the flu. Two days later the rash is very severe, with purplish spots and climbing up my body. The doctor said he did not advise any steroids but now I'm a little worried. They made an appointment for me for with a dermatologist four days from now but I'm afraid I'll be permanently disfigured by then. Also my ears are ringing. Should I go to an urgent care center? It's Friday night and the doctor will be unavailable over the weekend. ## The FDA does list a non-allergic skin rash as being a possible side effect of ...

I have been taking a half of a Lortab 7.5 for a long time now. I am up to 1 and a half a day. I have this rash on my legs, bottom and chest. Little bumps on my chest and big red blotches on my legs that itch. How can I find out what a rash from Lortabs look like? ## Missy, I also have been taking generic lortab 10/500 for a few years now and within that time have developed a strange rash. Mine is mainly on my upper legs, lower stomach, chest and occasionally on my forearms. They start out as small red bumps/spots/lesions which itch a bit, grow larger (up to the size of a quarter) and flake skin off. As time passes they eventually (after a few weeks/months) go away and reappear somewhere else. At any given time I probably have about 6-10 of them in various places. I saw a dermatologist 3...

I have broken out in a rash around my neck, shoulders, arms and legs really bad. Didn't know what was the cause. Went to dr. he said it looked like a inward reaction and nothing topical. Well, I had started taking Dexilant (Kapidex) just about the time I broke out. My question is ....those of you who have experienced this? How long did the rash last after you stopped taken it? ## So glad to know I am not alone. I started Delixant/Kapidex 3 weeks ago. After about a week I had a rash on my hands and arms. I continued taking the medicine because I was not fully convinced it was the culprit. After another week my itchy red rash had spread from arms to the rest of my body. I called the doctor and they said to come so they could rule at eczema. Byt the time I call in to see the doctor I wa...

A doctor in mexico prescribed this for a rash i had on the back of my hand. I used the cream for a month till i could not see the rash anymore. Once i stopped using it, the rash tried to come back. I took Lyrica (150mg daily) for 2 years. The medicine helped reduce my leg and hip gain greatly. In January I started working out daily and dieting and lost 30 pounds. I gradually have quit taking Lyrica and am having only a small amount of discomfort at times. The problem is that upon quitting the Lyrica the back of my knees started itching and welps appeared after I scratched them. It has been 3 weeks since I stopped taking Lyrica and I am still itchy. Has this happened to anyone else? Could this be a result of nerve damage? ## Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, it is an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain. The stinger was in my leg for 5 days. Finally when to urgent care and was prescribed Amoxicillin Clavulanate 875mg for pain, swelling and itching. Will this help if the stinger has poison? ## This is an antibiotic that is used to treat or prevent infections, it will not alleviate pain, or swelling, unless both are caused by an infection and it would take several days to help. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?
