I am a 25 year old female and it has worked great for me. My oldest son shows signs of possible ADHD and I know that anxiety and depression run in genes. We have waited to see how our son acts when he starts school this fall to see weather he may have to be treated. I agree with Jonnie in that it it better then ritalin. ...

ive been on 20 mg for about 2 months now was doing somewhat okay but now have alot of stress at work and i feel like i slipping backwards...irritable and aggitated more often again...i need to see my dr for a follow up this week, should i ask her for a increase in mg...i really dont want to try another drug cause prozac is the safest and dont want to feel like a zombie since i work in accting, but i think i need more mg since 20 mg was working for awhile....any suggestions will be helpful.... ## An increase in the dosage may be your best bet and it is usually something you can do temporarily, until the stress eases off and then go back down to your regular dosage. A dosage increase will probably also increase the side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, headache and weight gain. Read ... ...

Prozac generics

Hi everyone, I am taking Prozac generics and wondering about preferences in manufacturers. I believe the 20mg of Activist is not performing very well. My pdoctor has increased to 30mg by taking 3 10mg and would like to get a reputable manufacturer. Also would like to know about experience from people who were given Latuda to use with it. He gave me a sample pack but have been afraid to take it. ## I currently take the capsule manufactured by Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals for perimenopause symptoms, which include anxiety, and it works very well for me. I take 20mgs in the morning and 10mgs at night. I can't say how well it will work for you, though, since we are all different. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry... ...

Prozac ruined me

Back in November of 2016 I made the decision to seek help in dealing with some depression and anger issues that I had been suffering with for a very long time. I called my health care provider (KP) and they had me talk to a general practice doctor, saying that I needed a referral in order to see anyone in their behavioral health department. I wasn't sure what a regular doctor was going to do for me, but I did as I was told. The day that I saw this person would end up being the beginning of some of the worst days of my adult life. This doctor listened to me for all of about 10 minutes and then prescribed Prozac for me. I had heard of it before, and was willing to try anything, so with little information on what I was getting myself into, I proceeded to follow Doctor's orders and ... ...

on 10 mg of prozac

I have been on prozac 10 mg for 14 days and it has helped my anxiety and fear some. I take it at night and do sleep well but sometimes wake up in morning with anxiety and fear, will this get better the longer im on it. I started taking it because I got anxiety after my daughter was born 6 weeks early and is still in hospital. ## Hello, Sak! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. You may need to check into raising the dosage, so there is more to stay in your body for a longer period of time, or ask about splitting your dose and taking it twice a day. I take it for the irritability and moodiness that I get from perimenopause and found it works best for me to split my dosage. It will also take about 3 weeks, before it reaches its full efficacy level in your b... ...

Help ## Unfortunately, while it is a common problem reported by many people, I really don't have any answers as to why this happens. It's been reported with many antidepressants and Methadone. It may be due to the fact that some of the antidepressants raise the levels of Methadone in the body. What dosage do you take? You might want to try asking your doctor about making a slight adjustment, so you take a little le... ...

Prozac to viibryd

I have tried several anti-depressants and have yet to feel better. Started with Xanax years ago but only took it for a little while. Didn't take anything for 20 years. Now within the last two years I have tried Effexor, prozac, welbutrin and now viibryd. Only been on it for 3 weeks and still feel crappy. Mood is ok but so fatigued that I about can't go. I had an episode 9/13 where I became unresponsive and then was just in and out. I felt drugged and numb. Had weened off prozac and started viibryd. After spending 4 hrs in ER and having blood and urine evaluated and X-rays the dr said he thinks it may have been a reaction because of prozac was still in system. I actually thought I was going to die. I really don't believe the way I feel has anything to do with medication. Oh w... ...

Prozac and itching

I was removed from an antidepressant coctail 5 years ago and put on Prozac. It works for depression, but I have developed a horrible itching problem which I wonder if may be related to this drug. I have had diagnostics for everything. No rash. Just an increasing inability to tolerate any irritation to skin surface without literally months of horrible itching. I am being tortured to death. Any suggestions/help? ## How long has the itching been occurring? Do you take any other medications? Have you consulted a dermatologist? Itching can occur with Prozac, but it usually happens immediately, not after you've been on it for awhile. ## I have been to every kind of physician. None can figure this out. I itch 24-7. Carry around ice bags and bottles continually. It is getting worse, althoug... ...

Prozac exhaustion

I am on day 21 of Prozac. I also take 90 mg. Cymbals, 300 mg lithium and clonazepam as needed. After starting the Prozac I am so exhausted I can hardly function. My doc wants me to up the Prozac to 40mg. I have had major depression most of my life. I feel I'm overestimated, and none of it is helping much anyway. Thoughts? Thank you. ## Hello, Suzy! How are you? Prozac has been known to cause that as a side effect, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight loss. However, it should improve once you're on one steady dose for about 4 to 5 weeks and your body gets used to the medication. Adding it to the other medications has likely increased its drowsy effect, as well. What type of doctor are you seeing? ...

prozac fluoxetine

I have finally got back to prozac instead of the generic version of prozac and my heartburn is gone.. I have suffered with SEVERE heartburn for 4 years. I finally talked my doctor into giving me the brand name instead of generic and sure enough that was the cause of it.. Back 20 years ago I was put on prozac and was on it for many years and about 4 years ago I started getting generic prozac (fluoxetine) and within 30 minutes of taking it I had SUPER SEVERE heartburn that lasted for many hours!!! I would take antacids, tums, zantac, pepto, milk, Everything but nothing would put the fire out!! It's been 2 weeks now on brand name prozac and NO HEARTBURN!!! THANK THE LORD!!!! Prozac medication

I'm not sure if doctor's read this website but until they realize that these drug manufacturers can't be trusted, they will not be able to help their patients. My mom who has Alzheimer's is able to react to changes in different brands of the same meds she's been on. Her caregivers notice and let us know. It's a real shame that the FDA allows such a drastic range in what they are able to put into these generic drugs. Shame, shame on them. We need to protect ourselves against the generic drugs sitting right in our local drug stores. You don't need to be on street drugs to be harmed by bad drugs, they are right at your local pharmacies. Don't let your pharmacist lie to you, they're in it for the money. ## Did anyone experience Seizures on Prozac? My daug... ...

cymbalta or Prozac?

Going back to Prozac after 10 mos. of cymbalta. Reason? Shortly after starting cymbalta I experienced increasing lack of energy and edema in my legs with weeping, sores and ulcerations. I continue to treat the edema under care. I take one dose of lasix each morning. This reduces some edema, not all. Weeping, sores, elastic compression hose are all a big part of my life. Scheduling activities to live a normal life is nearly impossible. The quality of my life is depressing. Is Prozac going to help or should I look to something else? ## Hello, Chuck! How are you? What condition is being treated? Many people do successfully take Prozac to treat depression and anxiety. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight loss. However... ...

Prozac and insomnia

I am on 5 th week 20 mg of Prozac. Up to 5 days I was also taking xanax .50mg per day. Now that I feel better with my depression, I have stopped taking xanax. The last 3 days I cant sleep and at night when I close my eye my mind doesnt shut. Also still struggling with shortness of breath and some panic attacks. Specially now that stopped taking xanax. Any suggestion? Thank u ## Hello, Roadrunner! How are you? There's a chance that it's due to stopping the Xanax, you may be experiencing some withdrawal symptoms. It will likely just be a matter of time, before things improve. If not, then you should speak to your doctor. As listed by the FDA, withdrawal symptoms may include nausea, headache, anxiety and depression. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank u. Yes I started ... ...

Prozac or methadone?

Hi, My name is Cynthia. And 3 weeks ago my doctor started me on Fluoxetine (prozac) and then 4 days I started taking methadone for my headaches and recently between the two I started itching badly, so I was wondering if It was the prozac or methadone? I looked up the side effects for prozac and one of them are itching, but so is One of the effects to the methadone! And it is my whole body not just one spot! Help me! Please/thank you so much ## Kittykat96, Although Prozac can cause localized itching methadone is notorious for causing full body itching that can become relentless. Methadone is a synthetic narcotic opiod and like traditional opiates it shares that propensity to cause itching. Contact your prescriber he may be able to adjust or eliminate one or the other .
