I've taken dans, v's, etc. ## In my findings, both "pro-soma" and "pain-o-soma" contain the same active ingredient (Carisoprodol) in 350mg to 500mg dosage strengths. Other dosages may be available as well but those are the two options I'm presently aware of for these specific brand names. That said, I don't see why one would work any better or worse than the other unless certain inactive ingredients affected their bioavailability. Nevertheless, because we all react/respond differently to the same meds, trial and error may be only way to find out for certain which one works best for you. My pharmacy just began filling my soma RX with 446/Sun pharmaceuticals. They don't work like any other generic I've taken. I get shakey and nervous sometimes. They also don't help the muscles. My GP recently stopped prescribing me Soma after many years of successful treatment with no other changes in medications. I go to a pain specialist for long term injury and they do not prescribe soma. I've heard that the best bet for getting back to my previous treatment plan may be to find a new GP who would prescribe soma. Can this muscle relaxer be taken to help with anxiety? ## Yes, as it has some similar properties as anti anxiety medicine. However Soma can also cause anxiety too! ## @Laura, I just did some research and read that Soma (Carisoprodol) can be used for anxiety like Eddy mentioned, however, it's not often prescribed for that because since it's a muscle relaxer it can actually have strong sedation effects. Also, Soma is only meant to be used in the short-term, often less than three weeks. There is a natural muscle relaxer known as valerian root that I've tried for anxiety but it also works for insomnia, and well, it definitely made me calm but also very very sleepy just like the Soma might do. Doctors will not write RX for this anymore. I am allergic to Vicodin, Codeine all sorts of pain meds. Soma always worked for me. I sit with extreme pain; nothing works all = depression; never had depression till whole body turned into pain. Real, overwhelming pain; can't sleep; cannot eat; nausea from pain. ## There are better muscle relaxers than Soma on the market. Which soma (carisoprodol) generic is best? I'm reading that the 'cor 103' makes you feel like you took a narcotic but isn't. Sounds nice as I do not like them either but the relief they provided. I am writing this thread forum to discuss the shortage on soma and carisoprodol. Recently even the best pharmacies in my area are completely out of soma. Had to wait a week just to get my second best preferred soma 350mg generic. I had to settle for Jubliant Cadista Pharma generics which are the imprinted OP 35 white tablets. I have been on the Watson formulation for over 5 years which are imprinted DAN 5513. Luckily when Activas Elizabeth / Mayne Pharma acquired Watson Pharma then of which now Teva Pharma has acquired Activas medications. Activas was smart as they kept the Watson formulation of soma and dispensed the watson generic formulation.
