Pristiq 100 Mg

I've been on 50 mg for a while and haven't been doing as good as I once was- my dr wants me to go to 100 mg but now that they finally make a 25 mg pill. Do you think 75 mg would be good? I'd prefer to be on as small of a dose as I can- lemme know guys or girls if anyone bumped to 75mg with success or 100 mg too when 50 mg wasn't working as good. Thanks and all comments would help out a lot! ## Hello, Chris! How are you? If your doctor agrees, there is no reason to go to the 100mgs, trying 75mgs is perfectly fine and will leave you somewhere to go, if you become tolerant to that dosage. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Are Pristiq and Wellbutrin in the same category? ## No I have been on 100 mg of Pristiq for 2 years. Pristiq is for Seritonin. Wellbutrin is for Dopamine. Some of us who are bipolar, our bodies do not make enough of either. Pristiq is for my Seritonin which helps with sleep. Will start Wellbutrin XR 150mg tablets on September 2nd. Dopamine makes a person happy. you laugh more, enjoy life more and all that. All this was explained to me by my neurologist and psychiatrist. ## They both treat similar conditions, as Charlie has stated, but they are not the same. However, this does not mean they are always safe for any certain person to take together, that is entirely up to your medical history and your doctor. The FDA lists typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsi...

Has anyone switched off of Pristiq to Contrave? My Dr wants me to make the switch. I’m scared to death of the side effects that come with weaning off one and starting another. ## Has anyone recently started Contrave and had to wean off of Effexor or Pristique? I am currently taking Pristique 100 mg and will need to wean off of it and start the Contrave. I’ve had mild depression and anxiety and have taken Pristique for a number of years.

I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety over 2 years ago and was initially put on 50 mg then increased to 100 mg. I felt very stable initially but over the past few months have been having some issue to time. For example when I create a flyer which should only take me 30 minutes and before I know it 2 hours have passed. I also seem to be having problems rationalising things and sequencing. Has anyone else experienced these problems? My doctor's response was to increase my dosage to 200mg. ## What type of doctor are you consulting? Just a general practitioner or a specialist? Learn more Pristiq details here. In this case, these problems could be serious issues that can affect many aspects of your life and work, so I think you'd be best advised to see a specialist, such as a m...

I have been on pristiq for about 8 years. I'm at 100 mg and have been for some time. I want to drop to 50. Does anybody have experience with this? Also, I have started losing hair after having a full head of nice hair. I know it's due to the pristiq and/or Wellbutrin (buspirone) I take. Can anybody relate? ## Most medications that have an effect on your body chemistry can cause hair loss, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache mood changes, and weight changes. Why are you wanting to lower your dosage? What condition was it prescribed to treat? Are you on any other medications?

I was severely depressed due to the loss of my husband in May. My doctor started me out on Zoloft but it did work well for me. Had tremors and felt sick. He switched me to PRistiq starting at 50 mg. I was better for awhile but the dosage was not high enough. I am now on 100 mg and doing much better. No bad side effects and I have lost a lot of weight (this started even before I started taking the Zoloft). My appetite has definitely decreased but I do not feel the need to eat more and food tastes fine. My husband dying and being depressed is a terrible way to trigger a weight loss but I am at a much healthier weight for my age and height. ## I am very sorry to hear of your loss, but also glad that you found a medication to help you. If you do need to know anything else about it, here'...

WAS ON PRISTIQ FOR 3 MONTHS AND WENT OFF BECAUSE INS, WON'T PAY. WHAT ARE THE SYMPTONS GOING OFF THE MEDICINE. ## Nausea and vomiting ## i just posted in another forum, but i have now done 2 weeks of 50 mg (down from 100) - i seriously had almost no side effects. The only things i experienced were: 1) very odd, vivid dreams 2) some night sweats 3) first 2 days some zapping in hands and legs with a little numbness - went away completely after 2 days today is the first day with no pristiq altogether. Again no side effects (so far) except the same zapping and numbness i had when i dropped from 100 to 50. I assume the next few days will be the test. I was advised to go to one 50mg every tother day for another 2 weeks but i may just cut off completely now, i don't think I'm too p...

I have been on pristiq for at least 3 years 100 mg per day . I have been doing well with this drug. I take it for anxiety , panic disorder , some depression. But lately I have been feeling a little queasy ( stomach) and feeling somewhat anxious . Not sure what's going on because a close friend of mine died recently in a accident And my wife just got diagnosed with stage 1 liver cancer but it was caught early, She is my rock and love her so much I would die if I ever lost her. Thank you ## Hello, Gary! How are you? I really wish the best for your wife. Medications can become less effective, over time, as our bodies get used to them and coupling that with the stress you're currently under, it makes sense that you could be experiencing more stress and anxiety. At this point, you ma...

I’ve been on Pristiq for about a year going from 50 mg up to 100. I’ve been having issues with shortness of breath but it’s gotten much worse and I made an appt with a cardiologist after my regular dr didn’t find anything. I had gotten to where I was seriously out of breath walking from the front room if my house to the back. In the meantime, totally unrelated I have been weaning off of the pristiq because of a severe sweating problem that was no longer tolerable. I’ve realized that after being down to 50 mg, one tab every third day, my breathing issue is much, much better. Could it be the pristiq that was causing the problem and has anyone else had this issue? ## According to FDA reports, Pristiq has been known to cause trouble breathing, as a side effect,...

I wanted to go off my antidepressant 150 mg. of pristiq My doctor dropped the 50 mg. of pristiq and started me on 10 mg of viibyrd . I'm sick all the time, dizzy, fill like i'm going to throw up all the time and very depressed. I wanted to go off antidepressants all together, why do doctors just keep putting you on more pills. I've been taking antidepressants for over 22 years, I just retired at 62 and can't afford to be on this medicine any more. ## Hello, Brenda! How are you doing? Sorry that you are experiencing such symptoms. Withdrawal effects are always a possibility when stopping antidepressant medications, so your doctor may have switched you to the low dose of Viibryd to try to prevent them, but only your doctor can really tell you for sure. taking 2 mg of Ability with 100mg Pristiq for severe depression, with weight gain and fatigue now. On this med for 1-1/2 years, not happy with side-effects. Took prozac, cymbalta, and others a they ran their course. Depression better, but not happy with weight gain and tiredness. any other options available now?? Thank You- ## Pretty much all the medications used to treat such conditions can cause weight gain as side effects. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? The only thing you might be able to do is up your exercise and cut down on your calorie and fat intake. ## Sandy I am also on 2mg. of ability, and 100 mg of pristiq, and am gaining weight, but depression is so much better, and doing more now, talking to people, and ect. So I will try to just control what I eat, so hung...

I am new to taking pristiq and have been taking 100mg for around 3 weeks. Initially my script was for 50mg so I was taking 2. When I got my next script filled I didn't realise they were 100 mg tablets and I accidently took 2 each day for 3 days before I realised they were 100mg, so for 3 days I have taken 200mg rather than 100mg and now I know why I was feeling extremely nauseous and dizzy. I have now just continued taking the 100mg as per normal but am feeling very strange, agitated and dizzy. Has anybody done this before? Should the symptoms settle quickly? ## Hello, Dani! How are you? Yes, the symptoms should settle down, but it may take a week or two. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. If they don...

I increaase my dosage of pristiq to 100 mg and got a terrible headache for two datys Is this typical? Does it go away? Does pristiq come in lower dosages ## Normal dose is 50 mg every day. Doses of greater than 50 mg per dayare rarely more effective, however my increase the likelyhood of additional adverse reactions. Consider 50 mg every other day if poorly tolerated in the elderly. Taper dose gradually to D/C. Do not cut/crush/or chew. Yes, one of the possible side effects is headache. ## Rb is correct, headaches can be a side effect, especially with a dosage increase, you may also experience nausea, drowsiness and dry mouth. My Son went to the Dr. for anxiety and depression, pristiq created more problems for him, panic attacks, insomnia, loss of appetite and he had black outs, got into some legal trouble and says he does not remember anything about that night. Anyone else had this type of problem? ## I was first prescribed 50 mg and now have been raised to 100 mg of Pristiq a day and 60 mg of Buspar for anxiety and depression. I have noticed that I have been getting irritated and grouchy more often while on the medicine. I have been on for about 3 months now and have set up an appointment to discuss this with my doctor. Not happy at all with this combination. I also had a loss in appetite, but no blackouts. ## had a severe seizure while on pristiq, had been taking the medication for about a year. I was gett...

Why do Pristiq only come in 100 or 50 mg tablets. I have to take 150mg daily and i am therefore having to pay for both scripts each month which is rather costly. ## Studies have shown that even though it is safe to take pristiq in doses greater than 100 mg it has shown no increased effectiveness. Therefore 150 mg is not a sensible dosage. Speak to your doctor. ## Hi, Jasmine! I am sorry about the issue you're having, but Buttons is on the right track. Once a medication has been tested and the various efficacy levels of dosages have been proven or disproven, it is only manufactured in the approved dosages. Thus, if they found during testing that there was no benefit to a higher dose, or perhaps even dangers found to using it in higher amounts, then they will not manufacturer those do...

I have been on Pristiq for a couple of years now beginning on 50 mg then up to 100 mg for depression and anxiety. I am now experiencing some difficulty with time. For example I may be creating a flyer to send out which should take 30 minutes tops but before I know it 2 hours have passed and I have no idea why it has taken me this long. I look at the document and it is definitely not 2 hours worth of work. It is really weird and very unsettling. It is happening more and more and my ability to rationalise seems to be getting worse. Went to dr today and his answer is to increase dosage to 200 mg. Any thoughts out there? ## That's very odd and not something I've seen noted in the medication or information, or from other users. Okay, I am hoping to get some help. I was on Pristiq 100 mg for the last three years. My insurance now is having a higher co-pay plus I have gained 25 lbs. So the PA switched my to Wellbutrin SR 150mg. It is day three and I feel awful. Very foggy and light headed. Well I found out from her nurse today, that I should not be having any caffeine when I take it. How long will this feeling last?? Anyone have words of wisdom. I am not hungry and that is the good thing. I want to try to stick it out. ## Hi Mojo, Everyone's body handles medication differently so there is no way to know when the side effects will go away for sure.If they haven't gone away in a couple weeks, you might want to speak with your doctor. Feeling light headed obviously isn't normal and may be a sign that yo...

You could be suffering some withdrawal/rebound effects from stopping it, plus side effects from starting the new medication. These can last for about 4 to 6 weeks, before your body ad...

Today was my first day of taking Viibryd. Starting on the 10 MG dose. I am also having to slowly stop taking 100MG Pristiq that I am currently on. Sounds like a fun month! Hope the slow withdrawal from pristiq won't be too bad. But here's to hope! ## Hi and welcome to our site! We do have a very active discussion thread about this medication, here's a link to it: The most commonly reported side effects of Viibryd, when it was in testing include: nausea, diarrhea and somnolence. How did the withdrawal of the Pristiq go?

On 50 mg Pritiq w/ few side effects, then PDoc added 100 Wellbutrin SR/day for 1 week, the 2x100/day after first week. Having serious vivid dreams, but especiall thingling and numbness in feet, lower legs, both forearms, and face. Anyone had similar? ## The problem could be caused by the combination of the two medications. Wellbutrin contains the active ingredient Buproprion and Pristiq contains Desvelafaxine and combining the two is known to increase the amount of the Buproprion metabolites in your body, so the dosage may be too high for you. Have you contacted your doctor about this problem, yet?
