I am on day 4 without them an I am seriously dizzy an I am wanting to know how much longer till the drug is out of my system? ## Pristiq contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, it is an SNRI antidepressant. The withdrawal effects, if you were taking them for a long period of time, especially at such a high dosage, can take about a month to completely wear off. Though, they will gradually improve and not be so severe, as your body adjusts to no longer having the medication. You should also be careful to watch for rebound depression and anxiety symptoms. atrial fibrillation ## Pristiq, which contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, is an antidepressant. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, sexual dysfunction and constipation. ## For 18 years I have been taking Prozac. Each time I have attempted to change, under the care of a physician, I've touched the bottom of depression again. During the last several years my dosage has been upped to 40 mg in the AM and 40 in the PM. I've suffered anxiety, expecially upon awakening in the morning. In the last 10 years I've been divorced from a man with passive-aggressive tendancies. I go to a well reputed psychologist, exercise and eat well. The most common side effects include: nausea, dry mouth, fatigue and dizziness. ## My husband took prestiq for 2 weeks. He became aggressive and violent. I now have the children amd families involved in my life due to the fact the neighbors witnessed him destroying our yard. Our life was good before, i just wanted him prescribed something since he seemed so stressed. how long does it take for the effects of prestiq to kick in? ## I dont know how long. Ive taken since Monday (day 6 so far) and havn't gotten anything ## Most medications in this class can take 2 weeks or more until you feel the full beneficial effects. That's generally why your doctor will prescribe it and then ask you to return for another appointment in approximately a month. Some of the most common side effects include: drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth and weight gain. Did you have any other questions? ## I have been on pristiq for about a year or so and so far so good. It took about 3 weeks to start helping.

I recently switched from being on/off Prozac for 20 years to taking Celexa, all I wanted to do was sleep all the time after starting it. The Dr. put me on Prestiq, I am on day 15 and not noticing a difference, still want to sleep. Any suggestions on what to try next? ## It will take about 4 to 6 weeks, before this medication reaches its full level of efficacy in your body, for you to know if it's going to work for you. If you don't see any improvement after being on it for at least 4 weeks, then you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists ts typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. What are you taking it to treat?

My friend was on prestig and murdered his wife. He was a good hard working man. Could this drug have contributed to his behavior? ## Pristiq is an antidepressant medication. Information I was able to gather states that nausea is the most common side effect associated with Pristiq. I also retrieved that suicidal ideation was monitored and was determined to be significant in 1-2 patients in each study. I am not an MD, however I do believe it would be best to immediately consult your doctor about this occurrence to see if Prestiq plays a clear role in managing your friends behavior. To view more information about this drug, please refer to the link below If you have any more questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to post back so I can further assist you. ## I was taking 100 MG of...

My doctor gave me prestiq about 6 weeks ago, because we were having no luck controlling my hotflases with hormones. I had a complete hysterectomy @ 37 a year ago and the flashes were a nightmare! This medicine almost COMPLETELY stopped the hotflashes and helped with the mood swings! I was amazed that an antidepressent was the answer! FYI, I also sleep better and have been diagnosed with figromyalgia, which the symptoms are a little more tolerable. ## Some of the things I have read about Prestique are scary. My sister takes it and it has stopped her hot flashes and it has improved her mood. Medco does not cover it and I was wondering how much it costs? I also have high blood pressure (controlled on Norvasc) do you know if that would be a problem? ## It has become increasingly more common...

Is Prestiq a sulfur based drug? I have been on Prestiq for a week and noticed a difference in stabilization of mood but have had sensitive skin and a mild rash. I am taking other prescribed drugs and know that I'm allergic to sulfur based drugs. Thank you ## I have just discovered I am allergic to corn and all of their by products. Is there any medication for depression that doesn't have corn starch in it. ## The only natural anti-depressant that has no corn starch is St John's Wort (Hypericum). You need to check with your doctor if it conflicts with your medication (if you are taking any) or any other health condition before you try it. Not to be used with MAOI-type anti-depressants especially, but also not with any other anti-depressants. ## As to a prescription medication...

ok to take prestiq and folic acid together? ## While Pristiq is an antidepressant medication, Folic acid is none other than Vitamin B9, which is naturally abundant in many leafy vegetables. After gathering this information, I believe consuming folic acid from eating healthy foods is a superior alternative to any supplemental form. In my opinion It would be ok to take the two together. I am not an MD, so I cannot assess what is suitable for you. But I do think you should give that some consideration regarding a natural alternative. Taking myself off of Prestiq. Very dizzy and I have thrown up several times. However, I just want to go cold turkey and want to know how long these withdrawal symptoms will last? ## IT can vary from person to person and depends on the dosage, as well as how long you were taking it. It could range anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks, give or take. Have you discussed this with your doctor? Have you tried anything to help with nausea and vomiting?

What is the highest number of milligrams of Prestique that should be taken per day? ## The RECOMMENDED adult dosage is 50mg. per day. But these M.D.'s will raise that amount much higher and possible stack this medication on top of other meds so beware you might be taking way to many meds at a much higher dose than necessary. ## Pritiq contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, it is an SNRI antidepressant. For those with hard to treat depression, amounts up to 400mgs a day may be used, but no benefits were shown on any dosages high than that and, as Bruce stated, the normal adult dosage is 50mgs a day. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and weight changes. Learn more: Are there any other comments or questions?

I was taking Effexor 150 mg since March 08, and just yesterday my doctor switched me to Prestiq 50 mg. I haven't been reading too many great reviews about it? Is it very similar to Effexor? I got many side effects with Effexor. Cold sweat, tiredness, no sex drive etc. ## I just started Pretiq today. Suppose to have less side effects then Effexor or Cymbalta. I need to take it for my Fibromyalga and CFS - suppose to lower the PH (what ever that is) and that is suppose to help with the pain. Good Luck! ## This is a SSNRI antidepressant, so its side effects will be similar to other drugs in this class. In addition, there is no way to know how many side effects you may experience, until you actually use it, since they can vary from person to person. ## I started pristiq last about 4 day...

I was taking 100 MG of Prestiq, 300 MG of Seroquel, and 150 MG of Wellbutrin. I slowly whinned myself off of everything, but the Prestiq. I lowered my dose from 100 to 50 mg's, and stayed on that for 2 weeks. I quit taking the 50 mg's of Prestiq on Sunday. I am having withdrawl side effects. The side effects include extreme nausea, headache, throbbing in my head and ears, dizziness, vomiting, irratability, and I snap at the least littlest thing. I feel like I have no control over my emotions. Has anyone went through this before?
