oxymorphone 10mg to morphine 30mg

Sometimes the morphine 30mg doesn't last as long so I've been going going back and forth between that and the oxymorphone 10mg. I was jus wondering because. I am usually on 60mg 3x a day. So jus thought I'd see if anyone knows. ## Hello, Lovely! How are you? The dosages that you mentioned are equivalent. Each 30mgs of Morphine is equal to 10mgs of Oxymorphone. So, if you usually take 60mgs of Morphine per dose, you'd need 20mgs of the Oxymorphone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

I take Oxymorphone and it helps. I just wanted to check to see which one is better, Oxymorphone 10mg er or Dilaudid 8mg? Thanks a lot! :-) ## There is no definitive way to say, it depends on you and which one works best to relieve your pain. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. If the Oxymorphone works well for you, then it might be best to stick with it. Oxymorphone 20 mg =? of Oxycodone
15 Replies RSS
My physician recently prescribed 20mg of Oxymorphone 2X a day with 10mg Oxycodone for breakthrough pain up to 3 a day. My question is what is equivalent strength of the Oxymorphone to the Oxycodone? Dr. Made it seem like it's very strong, which initially was in first month but now 3 months later, not as much. I do have multiple pain issues, not just back pain. Still I find myself taking all 3 Oxycodone for quite a bit of breakthrough pain. Dr is acting as if I shouldn't need but 2 for in between. Any thoughts? ## Hello, Bel! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. Oxymorphone is actually twice as strong as Oxycodone, so it's a 2 to 1 ratio. 20mgs of Oxymorphone equals 10mgs of Oxycodone. However, it is normal for your doctor to want you to use the least amount po... ...

Oxymorphone and hydromorphone
Post a Reply
I have posted before about these meds which are the most effective rescue meds available (though not here in the UK) from my OxyContin, which only lasts a maximum of six hours and not the 12 as stated on the box, so need up to three rescue dosages of a suitable 4-hour action analgesic daily. First, can anybody tell me if the much cheaper TEVA US generic oxymorphone is up to the quality standard of the excellent Endo IR OPANA 10mg (and occasionally I need 5mg tablets as well)? What is the best value for money brand of hydromorphone IR high dosage (4mg and 8mg)? I know that the original Abbott/Purdue DILAUDID is by far best, but I hear good things about Ethex and Mallinckrodt's generics. Mallinckrodt also tend to be a lot cheaper than most generic opioids. I know the prescription says every 12 hours, but I didn't know if it was possible to take another one after 8 hours or if that was risk of overdosing. ## Yes, that could create the risk of overdose. oxymorphone ingredient comparability
1 Reply RSS
Wut if any drug out there is similar /comparable to Oxymorphone?? ## Not precisely; the best alternatives are oxycodone & hydromorphone in the US with the addition of the absolutely superb dipipanone (Diconal) in the UK. A 10mg average oxymorphone dose would require 30mg Diconal to give the equivalent analgesia. Before changing to IR Oxycodone I took the 120mg Oxycontin twelve hourly but as its duration of action is only 6 or 8 hours at most, required rescue meds and dipipanone was by some way the most effective. I am looking for an oxymorphone IR 10mg source myself for a change of scenery but find it impossible to get from any US pharmacy sent over the water. My Texan friend tells me that it is the best analgesic she has ever had. On that basis, unless you have tolerance problems, ... ...
