I want to know about Prexum (perindopril) ## My father was given Prexum as blood pressure medication by his doctor. He was told to take 2 tablets a day, but after about 5 days he ended up in the hospital gravely ill. His body was quivering, eyelids, mouth and hands were unsteady. His lips, tongue and throat were swollen. He couldn't talk or walk. Could he have had an idiopathic anaphylaxis shock? He was released from the hospital and is at home at the moment. He seems very weak but he can eat soup and yogurt, drink water and tea. He can walk and go to the toilet by himself but my stepmother is always with him to make sure he doesn't fall and get hurt. ## This medication is used to help treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. The NIH lists the typical side effe...

I was taking Ramapril 2.5mg for around 2 years and the only two side effect I got from them. I have been on perindopril 4mg for a couple of months now and two weeks after starting the medication I started to developed a weird kind of heat rash on my chest, face and back. I wasn't sure what it was at first so my doctor ordered blood tests to make sure it wasn't anything sinister.. all tests came back negative which I was relieved but it still doesn't explain the ongoing rash that seems to come and go. My doctor suggested stopping the perindopril and see if the rash goes...It has been around a week now and I still have the rash. Does anyone know how long it takes for Perindopril to leave the body? ## Hello, Jason! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. A rash can be a side effect of this medication in some people that take it, as listed b...

I have been taking 4mg Perindopril for a year.I am 68 and do not have any other medical issues. Blood pressure now stable at approx. 125/65. However I have a horrid rash around my nose which is steadily getting worse and resists any cream. This has been ongoing now for4 months and is now heading towards my cheek. The other side effect has been a continual runny nose, and recently dizziness. I am thinking of stopping Perindopril to see if my rash clears up and to monitor my blood pressure to see what happens. Should I stop completely or halve the dose for a time? ## Hello, Peggy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. Suddenly stopping such a medication isn't safe, because it could cause dangerous rebound elevations to your blood pressure and heart rate...

I have started coveram which contains the active ingredient perindopril, but I am scared to take it because of all the bad side effects. ## Coveram contains Perindopril and Amlodipine. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. However, if you are taking it to treat high blood pressure, it is far more dangerous to let that continue out of control, than to take the medication. What side effects are you concerned about? ## I had a stroke 3 months ago and my Doctor prescribed Perindopril. Now I'm having bad reflux and burning sensations during the night. Can this be the side effects of Perindopril?

I took Perindopril for around 5 months until about 6 weeks ago when I began to feel really ill. ( I already have vit D deficiency and I take fultium for this) . I think I started with a cough and high urine output soon after I'd started taking Perendopril. So, after stopping the Perindopril 6 weeks ago I still can't stop the urge to urinate or the coughing. And I cannot pick up from feeling ill and tired with aching bones and muscles (as well as the aching bones and muscles from the vit D). How long does it take to get over Perindopril as, even though I'm 77 years, I was really active and vibrant before the Perindopril. It's lethal. Thanks for listening. ## Hello, Nora! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry about what you're dealing with, that's awful. How much...

Can I drink grapefruit juice while taking perindopril tablets for high blood pressure? ## From what I can find, there is no issue, but is is always best to double check. A patien is given Prexum Plus, Coversil and Indapamine, are they not the same drugs? ## Prexum Plus contains Perindopril (Coversyl) and Indapamide, so yes. Though it may have something to do with the dosage and timing, it's common for a doctor to kind of play around with blood pressure/cardiac medications like these to try to figure out what works best for the patient. Learn more Perindopril details here. Learn more Indapamide details here. For instance, when I first started these types of medications in the hospital, I was given a combination exactly like the Prexum Plus first thing in the morning, then the diuretic similar to the Indapamide in the afternoon and another dose of ACE inhibitor similar to Perindopril in the evening. This prevent the diuretic from keeping me up all nig...

I have been taking coveram, but was then changed to amloc and perindopril, and since then I have had erectile dysfunction. What can I do because I'm thinking of stopping these blood pressure medications? ## Hi David, Another David here (Lol) - Sorry to hear about your side effects after switching medications. From what I've researched, a "loss of interest or pleasure" is listed as a less common side effect of Perindopril; which sounds exactly like what you're describing. Personally, I think you should do what feels right for yourself after weighing out the pros and cons of taking these medications (or perhaps just Perindopril in particular). There are numerous blood pressure medications and natural alternatives on the market for effectively managing hypertension. How...

I've been taking the Reaptan brand of Perindopril/Amlodipine (5mg-5mg) & now I am experiencing side effects as such as dizziness, mild headache, stomach pain, hypotension and finger cramps. I fear it may cause more risks to my system. Should I stop taking this medication? ## How long have you been taking it? How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? If you have high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition, it is far more risky for you to let such a condition remain uncontrolled, since they have the potential to be fatal. They could result in a heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure. The issues you've reported are listed by the NIH as being normal side effects of this medication, you may also experience increased urination. Most side effects taper off, and ...

My doctor has taken me off Ramipril 10mg and Bisoprolol 1.25 and put me on Perindopril 4mg. The ramipril did not lower my bp but i had few side effects . When the bisoprolol was added it lowered my bp a little but it was still out of control and I got bouts of vertigo and palpatations when the Bisoprolol was added. However as I was on amlodipine for a number of years , that actually kept my bp lower but the side effects gave me no quality of life at all so i would not like to use again. Does anyone know the difference of Ramipril and Perindopril and if Perindopril has less side effects than Ramipril and does it work better at lowering bp? ## Well, it isn't that any medication really has less risk of side effects than any other. It's just that some are known to cause them less of...

I began taking Coversyl 2MG (Perindopril Erbumine) around 10 days ago. For the first week symptoms of side effects were minor, lately I seem to fit in to a 0.3% group who exhibit Hypotension. Also dizziness, joint & muscle pain, easily and earlier tired, bouts of Diarrhea and so on. Since the mission of this medication seems noble, I would like to stay on it. 2MG is the lowest initial dosage. Does anyone know if the tiny tablet can be cut in half ? (Becomes 1MG?)

I'm taking Ramipril,Perindopril and Eplim and have been getting terrible migrane.Headaches ceased when I stopped the Ramipril & Perindopril for two weeks, but I don't know which one caused the migrane and need to go back on them.G.P.not very informative. Can any one help please? ## Well, the first thing I have to question is why your doctor has you on both of them? Both Ramipril and Perindopril are ACE inhibitors, so it is essentially just doubling up on the same medication and that is actually what might have been causing your headache problem. If you have hypertension, or a heart condition that needs to be controlled multiple medications are often used, but not of the same exact class. Have you spoken to your doctor again, yet?

Can caveram 10/10 cause ankle swelling? ## Coveram contains Amlodipine and Perindopril and yes, it can sometimes cause peripheral edema in some people that take it, along with nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain.
