The Dr. prescribed me paroxetine hcl 5 weeks ago- for depression- going thru some tough times right now-I took 10 mg for the first week- then 20 mg for 2 weeks- I felt absolutely horrible when taking the 20 mg- so she told me to drop back to 10 mg again- it has been 2 weeks now on the 10 mg- and I still dont' feel "normal"- how long does it take to really start working? ## It generally takes about 4 to 6 weeks for your body to adjust to any new medication, or dosage adjustment and for things to even out and the side effects to taper off. If it doesn't improve, however, you should talk to your doctor again, because this just may not be the right medication for you. Are there any other questions or comments?

My doctor wants me to take BuSpar instead of Paroxetine. Can someone please help explain the differences and what would be better? ## Which one is preferred depends on the condition being treated, and its severity. Buspar contains the active ingredient Buspirone, and it is most commonly used to treat anxiety disorders, either of long-term, or acute duration. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. Ref: Buspar Information And Paroxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, it works by keeping one of our happy chemicals (Serotonin) bouncing around in the brain longer for those who may not produce enough, to help various conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and panic disorder. What should this pill look like? ( 20mg) ## What should Paroxetine 10 mg look like? ## Well that is very hard to say. If you give me the imprint from the pill you are talking about, I will gladly check for you to make sure it is Paroexetine. However, asking what it looks like, well it would be impossible to post images or describe them all. There are no regulations saying that all pills with the same active ingredients have to look the same. There are only regulations for the imprints. The size, shape and color are entirely up to what the manufacturer wants to make it look like. These pills are no available in generic, the name brand is Paxil, so there are literally hundreds of them on the market, and all have unique imprints and looks. ## hello, this morning my granddaughter found this...

i am currently taking paroxetine hcl-40 mg tablet. i had to switch from paxil cr-around 62.5 mg because a program called " bridges to access" i guess quit operating. well, this cutback in dosage i can really feel, as you know what they say about cr-when going back to regular release you might need more mg for similar effect. do you manufacture a higher dosage, or is posible to work towards a solution? thanks so much. i really appreciate your help. ## Hi, Scott! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. This website does not manufacture any medications, nor is it affiliated with any manufacturer, it is an information only website. That said, the regular release Paroxetine is available in a maximum of 50mgs. However, the manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline still provi...

My Paroxetine prescription looked completely different and is oval & pink instead of white & round. I reacted like I was never on Paxil. Has anyone else had a similar experience? ## I was on a 10mg Paxil tablet that was white and scored (so it could be cut in half to 5 mg). Double check to make sure the pill matches the prescription bottle description. You can also check on the internet or call your local pharmacist to be sure. ## Hello Richard, After doing some research I noticed that most of the Paroxetine medication that comes in the form of round pills often has the label "extended release" and the oval pills do not. It is possible that the pills you are accustom to taking release slower into your system than the ones you are now taking. I would need to know the mark...

Hi, I had been on paroxetine 20 mg for about a month, and suddenly have like, a layer of fat on my belly that hasn't gone away. For more background, I started taking it probably a little more than a month and a half ago, and I started experiencing some extreme (for me) side effects that I had never experienced with anxiety or depression meds before, namely dizziness and feeling sleepy more often. I looked up other people's experiences to see if those were common side effects, and then saw people talking about how it made them gain a lot of weight. I'm 5' tall and about 95 lbs, and have never had any problems with weight before but just in case I made sure to start exercising more/longer (both cardio and muscle toning type stuff), cut down on sugar (and some other things ...

My pharmacy has recently changed the manufacturer from whom they order generic Paroxetine. Are they ANY side effects a patient could encounter from this change? The dosage is the same. I have been experiencing bad headaches and backache since the switch (6 days). ## Yes, I get brain zaps which is what some people experience when quitting this medication. I take it faithfully & everything was fine until they started making generics & I have symptoms as if I skipped a few days of taking this medication. ## The most likely culprit is a different filler or binder that is used in the manufacturing process. See if your pharmacy will be willing to order the other manufacturer’s product especially for you. It’s not unusual for them to do this. However, be warned that there i...

Hi. I am on Paroxetine 40mg for about 15 years. I had a lot of stress lately. Suffering from stomach pain, headaches, tiredness. A Dr. Prescribed Esperide 50m 3x per day. My doctor has suggested changing to paroxetin. I have read a lot of reviews and majority are negative about the paroxetine. I am starting to worry. I have bad depression obsessive disorder and anxiety but with all the reveiws it seems not to be a good pill. Can you please tell me the experiences you've had while being on it? Thank you. ## Hello, Dee! How are you? One thing that you have to remember about online reviews is that the people with good experiences rarely go hunting sites like this to discuss such things. Generally, those that hunt up such sites, are those that have problems and are looking for reasons, or others that share their experiences. However overall, it's a very small percentage of the millions of people that are taking it. For example, Paxil/Paroxetine has a...

round white pill 20 mg- what should teh imprint code look like? ## Well, since this is a generic for the antidepressant Paxil, there are many companies that make it and all of their imprint codes will be different. This means there is no possible way that I could post all of them. Some are: PAXIL 20, this would be the name brand. 93 7115 ZC 16 N2 M APO 083 par877 P2 G C 56 422 POT 20 And this, of course, is not a comprehensive list. Do any of these match your tablets? If not, please post the imprint and I will gladly look it up for you. ## Thank you! The imprint is CZ16. I was just a little paranoid because the shape of the pill was different this time and when it arrived by mail the tablets had fallen out of the container and were loose in the packaging. Anyway, now I can rest easy. Th...

I have used Paroxetine for more than ten years, having used another SRi for several years. Paroxetine was certainly better than the first drug prescribed (Citalopram, I think it was), but I have come off Paroxetine altogether in the last month and discovered some serious issues. I was taking 20 mg per day from the start. I read recently that Paroxetine might relate to Dementia so asked about alternatives. I was prescribed Sertraline. I stepped-down from 20 to 15 mg per day without a problem. After one week I went down to 10 mg per day for a further week, again without problem. I noticed I was able to think more clearly and my recall improved substantially. I then went to 10 mg every other day. Within three days I noticed a return of anxiety, panic and insomnia. I was even crying about my s

How are you? No, it would be best to see your doctor for a new antibiotic, if you need one. Combining these two medications can increase the QTc interval of the heart, which could be dangerous. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Paroxetine as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes.
