So with that in mind, it is possible to take two 500mg tabs at once. Safety is another concern though with regards to liver damage, if you plan on taking such a high dosage for any prolonged period of time. But as far as drug interactions go, there shouldn't be any problem taking Tramadol shortly thereafter. According to the MayoClinic, there is actually a Tramadol + Acetaminophen combination that is available for pain relief.
