I would like to know if any one else is getting compounded hydrocodone ## Is Opama ER 20 mg better for chronic pain than Oxycotin? ## What is compounded vicodin? It doesn't have 100 hydro does it? Can you tell me about it? I've been on oxycontin 80s for yrs. A new pain mgmt doctor says I'm taking too much and has also refused to prescribe ativan 1mg 2 per day. I have been on a rollercoaster ride with meds being changed. I was given Zanaflex and Topamaze. Will these meds help me? Oxycontin dropped from 160mg 2xday, to 1 tab 3xday, no anxiety meds. Also changed Soma to Zanaflex. I didn't sleep much before this change, now not more than 2hrs a day. HELP!! A lot of yrs. of pain. I can't work anymore. I've raised a family, been a wife, raised Foster Children (My Children too). I love them all. I'm now a GrandMother that hasn't been there for her Grandbabies. I realize that I am new to this site so please understand that I don't usually complain about what I face in life. But her...

On oxycodone-acetaminophen 10/325 4 times day. It was also combined with Fentanyl 100 every 72 hrs. I asked to be taken off Fentanyl as it's very expensive. My Dr prescribed then Methadone HCL 10 mg 2 tabs every 8 hrs. This combination doesn't work as well. What's my other choice? ## If the Oxycodone is helping, you may want to speak to your doctor about trying it, by itself. It's available in various doses, without the added Acetaminophen. Morphine is available in the time released formula and the generics for it as usually not too expensive. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else have any ideas ...

Are there many people on this board that are going to a private Dr for pain meds? It seems almost every one is forced to go to a pain clinic and these clinics are horrible with all their rules and the way they treat chronic pain sufferers that are in need of pain medicine. And even worse is a methadone clinic. ## Not all pain clinics are horrible, but yes, some of them are and Methadone clinics are not intended to treat pain patients, they specialize in treating drug addiction. Learn more Methadone details here. Many private physicians are reluctant to treat chronic pain, because they are not specially trained in doing so, which means on top of the legal concerns, they also have to worry about mismanaging someone and being help responsible for that. Are there any other questions or comm...

Hi, i have been reading through this site for a while and i found that a lot of people are having troubles because of FDA regulations for pain meds. Doctors are not willing to prescribe pain meds, even if you are a proved chronic pain patient. Having medical records is not a warranty neither to get a prescription for your medication so, what in the earth is people going to do? should people just die or be in pain forever. Some people may find a way to be out of pain without pain meds, but what about the others who dont. i think government should do anything else but putting restrictions and regulations. Please i would like those in pain to share your opinion with me. {edited for privacy}. i will gladdly take your solicition. God Bless America! ## I have been in mmt for 9 yrs. I'm wa...

Osteoporosis,Celiac,HRT,MouthUlcers,Insomnia,Fatigue...........Wine seems safest pain reliever w/o side effects. Any suggestions? Pain 24/7. Frustrated. ## No, wine certainly does have side effects, you just may not notice them all immediately, but they are there, especially if you have more than a serving or 2 a day. It does contain alcohol, so it can cause liver damage, stomach damage, esophageal damage and it can be cardio-toxic. Things are made even worse, if you combine it with pain medications, such as NSAIDS and/or narcotics. There are very good reasons that doctor's tell their patients not to drink, or to do so only in moderation. There are also good reasons most prescription drugs tell you not to drink, while taking them. What medications do you take? ## Thank you for your ...

I've been on Vicodin for years due to chronic pain. My Doc prescribed this for me and said it was ok to take together, but I'm not so sure - Any thoughts? ## Naltrexone can decrease the levels of Hydrocodone, since it blocks opiate receptors, while Bupropion increases the effect of it. But, it's likely that the Contrave will actually cancel out the Vicodin, making it ineffective for you. You may need to see your doctor and try something other than the Contrave, if you require opiate pain medications. The FDA has approved Contrave to aid in weight loss and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, anorexia, nervousness and insomnia. Vicodin is classifies as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, suc...

I am truly concerned about all of the people who are chronic pain sufferers who are unable to find satisfactory treatment. Several years ago, after 20 years of taking all of the usual pain meds, I stumbled across the "Spinal Chord Stimulator" and the "Morphine Pain Pump". I have had a pain pump over a year now and it has truly changed my life. Of course, like every new pain treatment, they were only used on cancer patients, etc. But they are being used now for chronic pain sufferers who have a definable, (diagnosed by reputable Dr's) untreatable pain source. The company that manufactures these products is MEDTRONICS. I promise you I do not work for them and I am not being compensated for this. I just know what it is like to suffer debilitating pain. I also understand...

For various reasons I suffer severe pain related to: Spinal Stenosis, herniated disc in cervical spine, previous broken tailbone. I have previously tried, Oxycontin, Hydrocodone, but now am on Fentanyl patch along with Neurontin. These only control about 50% of pain and have often "breakthrough" pain that is nearly unbearable. A friend recommended Methodone to add to these meds. Can anyone tell me if it would help? Also, would it be risky as far as overdosing? I have a really high tolorance to opiates.

As fine did great no Dr no meds no nothing until I fell on my button 2/88. All Hell has broke loose. My pain has gone crazy. Gets worse and worse and finding help is getting next to impossible. The original fusion was the results of the Vietnam war injury. I finally broke down and went to the local VA hospital. After being on methadone and Oxycodone for over 8 years the Dr there scared me to death. Tells me methadone on its own for no unknown reason can stop your heart! What is the best pain medication for a Person who has a chronic muscle disease and is in chronic pain. ## Hello, Angela! How are you? There really is no particular best medication that I can tell you. There are many available and it really depends on your body and what works best for you. Some people require really potent narcotics to get their pain under control, some do better with other options. What medications have you tried and what type of doctor have you been seeing? The FDA warns that narcotics carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.

I moved to Minnesota and need to find a Doctor to prescribe Klonopin and Adderal or Dexadrine. I have high anxiety and panic disorder and can barely leave the house. I also have ADHD and can't start or finish anything without becoming stuck. I have chronic pain and was forced to start a Methadone program. I don't want to take it but have no choice because the pain is so bad. I am looked at like a "drug seeker" but I need my medication and don't know what to do. ## I am in the same boat myself but I finally dosed off methadone cause I hated the clinic, it wasn't the right enviroment for me but the medicine was fine and IF there was a way I could get it prescribed I would take it but I cannot go to the druggie clinic! Has anyone with severe chronic pain been told by their pain management doctor's that they and everyone else has to come below 90 mg of ms contin a day because of the DEA? Well, my doctor is. In the past 4 month's, he's taken me down from a comfortable level to now in half until he gets me to 30 mg x3 a day. I've read a lot of these post's, yet I've not read anywhere about the government getting involved. Are we the only one's? Also, I've been to the best of the best doctor's, and they've all said there's nothing they can do for me. My spine is shot. A pain pump was recommended, but the risks outweighed the benefits, according to Stanford Pain Management. So, what am I supposed to to with this? Any help would be a great kindness. ## Hello, Tara...

The last time I picked up my meds it was $600.00 for morphine sulfate er 100 mg 60 pills I can't afford this price it was by rhodes pharmaceutical. ## Hello, Billie! How are you? I'm sorry that they've gotten so expensive. The price has gone up in many areas due to a shortage, one usually happens the last few months of most years due to mandatory manufacturing limits, some pharmacies have even been charging people 'shortage fees' on top of the price of the medication. Have you talked to your doctor? They may be able to prescribe a medication that would be cheaper for you. Another thing you can do is ask your pharmacist if they participate in any of the savings card programs and if so, which one would make it cheapest. They are usually free to sign up for and can save...

Thanks to all you drug abusers there has been an ongoing war on us legit chronic pain patients. Thanks to all who abuse pills and alcohol, because of you they wage war on us. Street drugs are cheaper so why do you all have to mess with the pills and make life difficult for us chronic pain sufferers? Are you stupid or just self centered? Britain uses our military to protect Afghan poppy for people like you, so quit trying to cook up the pills. We legit chronic pain patients would really appreciate it, not that you care, but maybe when you stop acting so self centered, people will actually begin to care about you. You reap what you sow. I am being switched to Sandoz medication 10mg tomorrow, can someone give me any reference to this type of generic? ## YES!!!! Doesn't work like Teva. Been on this med most my life! What are the people with chronic pain going to do now that Drs will not prescribe pain meds they need and are in legitimate pain? Drs think you are a drug seeker if you ask for lortab even thought you really are in pain. What is going to happen to these people. Pain can cause other things such as high blood pressure and depression yet most Drs will not treat their pain because of all the drug seekers. What can be done about this. There has tobe a solution. The Physician's Oath says"First do no harm" But when they let someone in real pain walk out the door with no pain meds they in my mind are doing harm. There has to be a way to work this out so that people in real pain will be treated so they can have a quality of life. When you are in real pain you have no quality of life....
