 Pain Management

An analgesic is any member of the group of drugs used to achieve analgesia, relief from pain. The word analgesic derives from Greek αν - ("without") and λγος - ("pain").[1] Commonly known as painkillers, analgesic drugs act in various ways on the peripheral and central nervous systems. They are distinct from anesthetics, which reversibly eliminate sensation, and include paracetamol (known in the US as acetaminophen or simply APAP), the non-steroidal anti-inflamma...

I have serious pain issues due to multiple construction accidents and a lifetime of heavy lifting. I was dismissed from Bluegrass Pain Specialist for coming up positive for THC because I was seeking alternative medications in lue of increasing my dosage of hydrocodone. I am 55 and have two brothers that have died because of high doses of hydrocodone and oxycodone. The hydrocodone really helps, however, I do not want to increase my dosage. I now suffer. Please help. ## If you are lucky enough to have a good Methadone clinic near you, I would go on that. Then, you can wean off, VERY SLOWLY though, like a few Milligrams at a time after you reach a comfortable level for you. Or simply stay on it (called Maintenance). It is an answer for many Oxycontin users. I will say that it is not as goo... ...

I'm having a hard time finding a pain management dr in New Jersey, I'm wiling to travel to Philly. I've been on my medicine since 2008, my doctor just suddenly stopped writing my scripts, now what. No one wants to write for what I been on and I don't know what to do. Does anyone know of a dr that can help me please!! ## Hello, Becca! How are you? Part of the problem may be due to your asking them to write for certain medications. If you're asking that, before you go in for an appointment and establish a relationship with the doctor, they're going to view that as being drug seeking behavior. Is there a chance that the doctor that was prescribing could refer you to someone? That might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. Can anyone suggest a g... ...

Pain Management Help

Hi, A few months ago I got out of bed and had severe pain down my right leg. The doctor diagnosed it as sciatica prescribed me two 5/500 vicodin ever 6hours and 8 Weeks of physical therapy. The meds had no effect at all. When I went back I told the doc they were not helping so he upped it to 10/325 norco 6x a day. At first they only helped a little bit, he told me to take it 4x a day and my pain got "under control." I went back and saw a different doc at the same practice because my normal one was booked solid. The new doc took one look at my chart and told me that my Rx was too high, so she switched me to 10Mg oxycodone every 6 hours. For a few Weeks it helped as much as the norco but the pain got worse (I have a narrow spinal column, arthritis, and 4 herniated discs). I had a ... ...

I live in Memphis Tn.I have been going to the methadone clinic for 13 years.I have R A and I can't afford the methadone clinic anymore.I need to find A Dr That will prescribe my methadone. I need help ASAP ## Hello, Lee! How are you? I'm sorry, but a clinic is your only option. It is illegal for a private practice doctor to prescribe it for addition treatment or maintenance, under current U.S. law, that can only be done by those specially trained in its use for such in a clinical setting. Even those that resorted to a clinic for pain, end up having to remain there, because once that is in your medial records, you have no other option. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness... ...

Pain Management Costs

Are there any good drs in or around Lexington NC that will get me back on my pain meds without all the drama? I have been on Roxicodone 20mg 5xs a day, prescribed through my primary care dr. He started to get afraid of prescribing the amount of medication I needed, after 2 years, and referred me out to a pain clinic. In 6 months, I have had 5 u/a's, several pill counts, and it doesn't appear to be getting any better. I have Medicare and 1 u/a alone leaves me with a bill of $62 left over to pay once Medicare has paid their part. The whole thing is just getting to be too costly! Please, if anyone knows a good dr for pain management in my area, please let me know!! Thanks ...

lupus pain management

My son's wife is claiming her doctor told her she has lupus. I say claimed because she is a compulsive liar and we have not seen any of lupus or that he has even said this. She has a prescription a doctor is giving her of 150 Oxycodone a month that she uses up in 2 weeks. This is a huge concern of mine because the children are being neglected while my son is at work. She is so drugged up, the 1 and 2 year old are left gated in her bedroom while shes passed out from the drugs. Also, her pysch is gone. Shes irrational, turned very mean and abusive. Common sense is no longer there. What doctor in their right mind would prescribe that amount of pills month after month. I feel she is lying about having lupus. But Heppa law prevents my son from discovering the truth. HELP!! ## Hello, Dais... ...

This facility is known all over and has a fabulous reputation and I am vouching for them personally...."TEXAS TYLER PAIN CLINIC"....with offices in Tyler, Longview, Lufkin and Sulfur My old pain dr. did me a favor by dropping me and I finally had to go out of town for a Medicare/Medicaid provider with Texas Pain. NIH and Pain Management

Good day to all. This post is for those who may be faced with chronic pain or who may have loved ones undergoing difficult challenges in a similar capacity. I'm writing this message because I just stumbled upon an article by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), as they recently announced a meeting they held on May 31st through June 1st, 2018 discussing chronic pain and the opioid crisis. The event was intended to highlight the need for better pain management by taking advantage of the latest research in the field. In hindsight, many of us have come to terms that it's predominantly an illicit drug and fentanyl crisis (not solely prescribed opioids as is often depicted), but for the sake of allowing mainstream news to shed light on better approaches to pain management, I think... ...

Input your city or zip code for narrowed results: {link removed because site no longer exists} I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are accepting new patients. How are you? I'm sorry about what you've been through. Why do you want to switch? Are the Morphine and Dilaudid working for you? Most doctors aren't going to want to prescribe Methadone, due it's extremely addictive nature. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## NO!! I'm uninsured, live 20mi east I4. I've used each of these. Right now methadone was the only thing I could get. I am in so much pain, I want to die! My usual scripts are duragesic 75... ...

Can you help me with this, I Have No insurance so really cannot afford the doctor referral process. ## Hello, Liddybit! How are you? Unfortunately, there is no way to know if any given doctor is going to continue your existing treatment protocol, or not. The only thing you can really do is set up an appointment with one and then see what they offer for treatment, but make sure they receive a full copy of your current medical records. And while I know it's expensive, getting a referral is most likely the only way you're going to be able to get in somewhere to get the help you need. Can anyone suggest a... ...
