And yes, they are allowed to do so, it's considered a contractual agreement for treatment and most clinics do this. IE: If you want them to treat you, your part of the agreement is that you will not take any controlled substance medications other than what they prescribe for you. If you don't agree, you leave and they don't treat you. These agreements are also usually very, very strict. Some go as far a... ...

failed urine test at pain clinic
2 Replies RSS Share
I am on oxycontin 40 mg every 12 hours and 30 mg oxycodone every 4 hours as needed. Recently dilaudid showed up in my urine test and I was thrown out of the pain clinic. They refuse to discuss the lab results with me just told me to leave. I'm 62 years old and not a stupid person. I know I'm drug tested not even sure what dilaudid is. Now I'm going through horrible withdrawal after 6-7 years on pain meds. Panicking because I feel like I'm going to die. The pain is coming back and I'm going to be back in a wheelchair suffering and my life will be over. I never took anything but what they gave me. I went to a private lab for hair and urine testing at my own cost and am waiting for the results. Has this happened to anyone else and what was your outcome? Help me before I... ...

Does 15mg of OxyContin help much?
1 Reply RSS Share
The doctor at the pain clinic that I have just started going to has given me 15mg of OxyContin 2x per day with 10mg of oxycodone 3x per day. I had been taking at least 6 10mg of oxycodone a day from my neurologist. I have ran out of the oxycodone and the OxyContin doesn't seem to help me. How does the OxyContin work? Is 15mg OxyContin a common time release med to help severe chronic pain? ## Yes, Oxycontin is a time released formulation, the medication is slowly released over a period of 12 hours, so it will not affect you the same as the regular release formulation. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. How long have you been taking it, now? ...

My best friend, who introduced me to her surgeon that performed my 360 fusion, was recently forced to return to PM due to pain from numerous back problems including but not limited to Bone spurs, bulging discs, curvature of the spine and more..., Her PM clinic is about an hour away from mine. Anyhow, he had her on Oxycodone 15 MG IR 4 times a day and he recently added Oxycontin 30mg ER twice a day due to her not having much relief from just the 15 mg pills. It made all the difference in her level of pain and I had my friend back :) When she went to fill at the pharmacy (CVS) she has always used due to them being next door to the clinic, she was told she would have to go to a pharmacy in her county (next exit down) as could no longer fill for her out of county (we are in TN and first we ... ...

is roxicodone the same thing as oxycontin
3 Replies RSS Share
I have been prscribed roxidone 5mg after surgery. is it the same as oxycontin ## Hello, Jane! How are you? They both contain Oxycodone, but the Roxicodone is a regular release formulation, while Oxycontin is time released. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No it's not the same as Oxycontin. It's Roxinol. ## I have multiple sclerosis fibromyalgia osteoporosis and sciatica arthritis and two discs on my back I do take Vicodin 7.2 / 375 but my doctor said if I call in and it's only one a day that she would have to refer me to the pain clinic and the pain clinic only want to give you oxycodone which cause... ...

I just started taking methadone a couple days ago for pain because I was in a pain clinic taking Oxycodone (perks) and Oxycontin (extended release perks) both at 10mg 3x a day but I would take more than prescribed because it didnt help my pain at that amount alone. Then I found out i am pregnant and those meds are category B in the FDA database so its safer to take them while pregnant but I missed one appointment at the pain center that i didnt even know about they made an appointment for me without seeing if i could make it and didnt notify me prior to the appointment day so of course i missed it. Then they kicked me out and said i refused a pill count that i didnt even know i had i mean C'MON thats stupid. but anyway before that happened my doctor put me on this Butrans patch 5 mi... ...

I am on a regime from wisconsin pain clinic it works great and I get a quality of life. The AR doctors want to screw around with something that works. I need a Dr. to pick up where other drs were doing and now AR dont want to RX oxycontin or oxycodone. What is the beef? Where can I go. ## The main problem is that it is a medication that is quite commonly diverted and abused. Thus, it is under strict government control and all prescriptions they write for controlled substances must be reported to the federal government. If, for some reason, the government thinks they prescribed it for the wrong reasons, then they can face serious sanctions or the loss of their medical license. In this case, you really can't blame doctors for being extra careful. Did you bring your medical records and... ...

I am trying to find a doctor in san francisco, ca that isnt going to be a huge hassle in prescribing oxycontin....anyone know a good doctor? I have full insurance ## I am not familiar with doctors in California, but if you have a legitimate reason to have it, you may just want to look into pain management clinics. They are generally more open to prescribing such medications, than regular doctors. Most doctors have to worry, because they government closely supervises their prescribing practices and they are held responsible if found to prescribe certain drugs for invalid reasons. Oxycodone is a very potent narcotic analgesic. Common side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth.
