How do you figure a morphine equilvalant. What is the max a pain management MD can prescribe with the new laws? ## Hello, Kate! How are you? The overall directives as to prescribe no more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine per day, though some states have lowered it even further to no more than 100mgs. As to the conversion, Morphine is one a half times weaker than Oxycodone. Thus, the equivalency would be 80mgs of Oxycodone per day to equal the maximum of 120mgs of Morphine. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, these limits do not apply, if someone has intractable pain from a possibly fatal condition, such as st... ...

hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain. The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours. morphine 100mg er vs Lower Cost Alternative

I am a cronic pain patient. I have been taking Morphine ER 100mg for about 2 years. The price on my pills just doubles at my local pharmacy, My Dr is very open to recommendations, Can anyone recommend an alternative drug with the same pain killing potency with a lower cost. He had prescribed my Oxycontin, but the price at the pharmave was going to be about $700 per month out of pocket for me. The Morphine ER 100MG (qty 90, 3 per day) had been costing me $97 with my drug discount card, today when my wife refilled, they charged $190. When I called about it they said that the retail price of the pills had gone up. ## I have run into the same problem this month. I'm currently taking 100mg of oxycodoe a day (20mg via percocet and 80mg via oxycontin) as well as 200mg daily of tramadol. I'm taking these as prescribed for chronic pain. My concern is, that after almost 2 years of being on these pain meds with the dosage increasing as my tolerance builds over time, if the Dr's are able to fix what is causing my pain, are there meds that will help ween me off the oxy? I'm terrified of the withdrawls. My second concern is, if they can't fix what is wrong, are there alternative meds for the pain? I can't imagine increasing the doses forever. Any advice would be appreciated. ## Yes, if they can fix the problem that is causing your pain, the medications can be slowly tapered to minimize the withdrawal effects, or your doctors may w... ...

What Oxycotin mg is Equal To 100mg Morphine Er ## The Oxycodone in the Oxycontin is actually one and half times stronger than the Morphine, so you would require a lower dosage of it, thus the conversion would be 66.67mgs of Oxycontin. I have been on 100mg MS Contin 2X day for close to 10 years. What would be the best substitute and what MG. ## The most likely one to switch to would Oxycontin, it's over one and a half times stronger than Morphine. So, to equal each 100mgs dose of MS Contin, you'd need about 67mgs of Oxycontin. That's not available as an actual dosage, so your doctor would need to adjust accordingly, either a few milligrams higher or lower, depending on your tolerance. Learn more Oxycontin details here. PLEASE HELP. Yellow or peach coloured, round pill. Imprints 100 on one side and 4 symbols or logo on the other.

I was told it was Oxycontin SR 100mg, but it difffers in features from other Canadian pharmacy oxycontin. One side has 100 imprinted. However, instead of the CDN imprint, there are symbols or a logo on the other side. Looks a bit like a smiley face, but that depends on how you rotate the pill. Please see images below: ## The symbol on the back side of the pill appears to be a P, standing for the manufacturer Pharmascience. Here is an image from their site: If you visit their online product catalog at and then click on the letter T to view those medications, it is listed as Topiramate 100 mg. So it is not an Oxycodone. This is an anticonvulsant drug used to treat epilepsy in children and adults. It is sometimes used as an antidepressant. For more information about this drug please see:... ...
