Over The Counter Antibiotic For Tooth Infection

My cheek is swollen and I wanted to know what can I take or buy to help alleviate an abscessed tooth? ## Hello, Mike! How are you doing? I am sorry about the dental infection. Unfortunately no, there is nothing available over the counter that will treat this, since it is a bacterial infection. This is going to require an antibiotic from your doctor or dentist. The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Since an abscess is an infection, that is why the over the counter items and pain killers didn't work, they do nothing to treat the i...

I do not have dental insurance and I am suffering from a toothache. From past experiences, it feels like an exposed nerve. Is there anything over the counter that you can recommend I take to help reduce any infection as well as reduce the pain? ## Hi, Spencer! Sorry about the toothache. No, there is nothing available over the counter that can help with the infection. That's going to require an antibiotic and those are only available by prescription, except for the ointments that can't be used in your mouth. For pain, there are several options, such as Orajel and Anbesol, but they are just topical anesthetics that won't last for long, plus you need to check with a doctor or dentist to make sure they are safe for you to use. I know it can be expensive, but you really need to s...

I,m already prescribed tramadol for pain is it helpful for toothache? ## Hi Dot, Based on my research, Tramadol can be a feasible treatment option for pain associated with toothaches. Although certain over-the-counter meds such as ibuprofen are usually considered first line treatment options, it seems to be quite common for dentists to prescribe Tramadol in and of itself, or in combination with something like ibuprofen for serious tooth pain. You may also want to talk with your doctor or dentist about using an antibiotic (e.g. clove essential oil) to help fight the infection as well. I hope this helps!

I would like to know how many a day can I take?My toothache is very bad. I have swollen gums and my tooth is chipped. The pill I have is the Mexican one. And for how long do I take them? Or should I just go and get my tooth out? What do u recommend? ## Hello, Cielo! How are you? This is an antibiotic, so while it may help with an infection, if one is present, it will not help with the underlying issue that's caused the infection, such as the chipped tooth, so yes, you do need to see a dentist for a proper treatment. Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. What is the dosage as listed on the packaging? What you've stated in the subject line isn't very clear. ## Hello... Can I buy penicillin over the counter or does i...

I am taking Clindamycin for a wisdom tooth infection. It works great yet I want to forewarn any women who may decide to take it. It gave me a nasty yeast infection. I am talking about swollen lips, itchy, dry, very uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time. It seems most antibiotics help with one thing and cause other problems. Clindamycin breaks up proteins down there and it causes yeast to grow. If your doctor prescribed you this, get yourself some OTC (over the counter) yeast infection treatment when you go and get the meds from the pharmacy. ## That can be a normal side effect of most antibiotics, in both men and women, although of course for men, the yeast infections are usually only oral. If you are prone to getting them from any particular antibiotic, it is always a good idea...

Is a small white capsule-shaped pill marked L484 Hydrocodone or something else? ## A white capsule-shaped pill imprinted L484 contains Acetaminophen 500 mg (NDC 49348-042 among others). Inactive Ingredients: - Carnauba Wax - Starch, Corn - Hypromelloses - Polyethylene Glycols - Povidones - Stearic Acid Ref: DailyMed ## Is this an antibiotic? I have a bad tooth. Waiting for the doctor Appointment. ## No, this is an over the counter pain reliever (generic Tylenol). It might help relieve the pain of your tooth ache but it is not an antibiotic and will not help with the infection.

The capsule is blue/dark green with a brown kinda pink looking powder on the inside. It is also unmarked with kinda circle intentions in the middle. Does anyone know what kind of pill this is? ## Hello, Samantha! How are you? If there are no markings, it is most likely an over the counter product, of some type. So far, I've been unable to find anything that matches this description, however I'll keep looking and post back, when I have information for you. Does anyone else have an idea of what this is? ## Hi my.
