urinary tract infection ## Not familiar with this drug. It was prescribed for a urinary tract infection. Please comment on nitrofur monoh. ## I was prescribed Nitrofur for a urinary tract infection, but for two and a half days with each dose I would vomit the entire contents of my stomach, as this was taken with food. ## I have taken Nitrofur a couple times, and each time I got very sick with flu like symptoms for about two days...fever, nausea. ## i was prescribed nitrofur, i vomited everytime i would take it, had stomach cramps, headaches 2 days after taking it. ## I took pills for urinary tract infection, but it never took infection away. Most antibiotics do not harm the fetus, your doctor will tell you which ones you should not take. However, this site is not medical professionals to really advise you on this. Here's the link to the monograph with more information: ## I have a history of bladder infections, but last week was the first one in 6 months. I took Nitrofurn Mono 100 mg, twice daily for 5 days -- which helped immediately. But, two days following the last of the pills, the bladder infection returned. Hi, i got UTI last month & my gyno adviced me to take Nitrofur Mono Macro 100 mg for 7 days continously(1 tab twice a day).Fianally, i got well after 7 days wid dis medicine & no more infection is there, but now I have not got my period this month and its already over due by 10 days. Also m trying to conceive with my husband..I did preg test as well but it was negative. M having symptoms like nausea, morning headaches, tired ness, dizziness n all.. ANTIBIOTIC ## My wife is 83 years old and has a bladder infection. Her PCP put her on liquid antibiotic because her she can't swallow pills of any kind,(two refills) and it did not her symtoms. He them put her her on Nitro/Mono 100 mg. She has had a lethargic condition along with burning when saud she gort worse and so was switched to the Nitro/ Mono 100 mg twice daily. She developed a new side effect witch is itching with with a rash. I think that it may be brought on by taking her two doses mixed in apple sauce about three hrs. aprart instead of morning and at night before bedtime and lack of adequate hydrat Would anyone who has had experience or suggestions let me know? I says you should not be taking it if you are pregnant. I would highly suggest talking this over with your doctor. Person on this is allergic to sulfur. Is this drug safe for them? drug in question is nitrofurantoin Monoh ## Hi Bertha, Nitrofurantoin "is not" a sulfa based drug, as opposed to other antibiotics like Bactrim. This medication was given to me because I continued getting urine infections after intercourse and nothing else was working for me. I was given this medication to take one pill after intercourse, just one time. I have to say that for the past two years I have never gotten another UTI. This medication is great. I love it.
