Can this medicine be used to gratis a tooth infection? ## Hi Heidi, I have my doubts, because Nitrofurantoin has poor tissue penetration and is not indicated to treat anything other than simple cystitis (urinary tract infections). I would however recommend using clove essential oil for tooth and mouth related infections. Not only does it numb the pain, but it also kills the infection. A cheap natural alternative to prescription drugs, that is more effective in my opinion. I hope this helps! ## Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of infections, but it usually isn't the first choice for a dental infection. I didn't have my medication on me for a day and a half. I was supposed to be taking one pill, two times a day. If I restart taking my medicine is it still going to give me the same results, ridding me of my UTI? ## Hi, Aly! How are you? There's a good chance that you'll need a new prescription to make sure that you eradicate the bacteria that has caused the infection. The antibiotic needs to be maintained in your body at a fairly steady level for the required period of time to properly do its work, any break can usually allow the bacteria to reproliferate. Learn more Nitrofurantoin details here. You'll need to call your doctor to see what they say, they may allow you to just continue and finish. The decision may depend on your symptoms. ...

I took this twice in a row at 2:00. Is that okay? Also, is it okay to take one tomorrow morning and then 1 at night? ## Hi Mary, I just took a look at the dosing guidelines for this medication, and it states that Nitrofurantoin monohydrate/macrocrystals capsulesÂshould be taken with food every 12 hours for seven days. Because of that strict 12 hour gap in between doses, I definitely wouldn't say it is ok to take them back to back like that. Schedule your doses so that you take 1 in the morning when you get up and one a couple hours before you go to bed (giving yourself enough time to leave you with 12 hours before the following morning dose). You can view more details about this medication in the link below: I hope this helps! ...

I am on day 3 OF NITROFURAN MONOHYD MACRO 100MG 100 mg for urinary track infection every 12hrs, I have problems with my stomach and have been prescribed DICYCLOMINE 10MG/5ML. (1/2 hr before meals) Is safe to take while taking NUTRIFURAN? ## Hi Virnia, Based on my research, there are no drug interactions listed between Nitrofurantoin and Dicyclomine. So just going off that information alone, I don't think there should be any problems using the two together (outside of each medication's own general side effects). However, if you still have any reservations about taking them, it may be best to call your doctor up and verify that it's ok with him as well. Can it be used abcess infections? ## Nitrofurantoin is used primarily to treat urinary tract infections. It also notes in the guidelines that Nitrofurantoin must never be used to treat pyelonephritis, renal ABSCESS, and pyeloempyema because of extremely poor tissue penetration and low blood levels. Based on the above info I think it would be beneficial to contact your local pharmacy and/or doctor to find out if it is right the specific type of infection you are referring to. I started this last evening for a bladder infection. I also noticed excessive thrist and urination ... like today I have drank 14 cups of water, and urinated fifteen times, and the night isn't even over ... I also feel like I've been hit by a mac truck ... ## How old are you? This medication has been known to cause severe side effects in people over 65, as they tend to be much more sensitive to it. If that isn't the answer, some of the effects, such as the excessive urination, which would in turn cause the excessive thirst, might be due to the bladder infection itself. ## I have had the infection sin... ...
