Oxycodone + Naltrexone Drug Index

Oxytrex is an investigational drug currently in clinical trials. It combines the well known opioid agonist oxycodone in the treatment of pain with an ultra-low dose of naltrexone, an opioid antagonist. Naltrexone can have markedly different pharmacokinetics at ultra-low doses which may include, the attenuation of a pre-established opioid tolerance, the prevention of tolerance from the oxycodone in the formulation, and the possible amplification of oxycodone. It is being developed by Pain Ther...

please explain Naltrexone can have markedly different pharmacokinetics at ultra low doses which may include the attenuation of a pre-established opioid the prevention of tolerance from the oxycodone in the formulation, and the possible amplification of oxycodone ## Think of it as wiping the slate clean. Thats what naltrexone does to the opiod receptors thereby "erasing" tolerance and making the receptors more sensitive again ## @John, I don't know if you may be looking for a second opinion on this, but I think the previous post does a good job of putting into perspective how Naltrexone works to prevent the tolerance of opioids. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, a 100mg dose of Naltrexone is said to provide a 96% blockade by the time 24 hours have passed, an...

I'd like to discuss Embeda experiences with others. ## I have used Morphine, before, but not this formulation with the Naltrexone. What would you like to know? The reason the Naltrexone is included is to prevent abuse of other narcotics while using this medication. The Morphine itself is a very potent narcotic analgesic. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Read more: Does anyone that's used this have anything to add? ## Your information is incorrect - the naltrexone is not added "to prevent abuse of other narcotics, while using this medication". The naltrexone has no action unless the product is broken down first. ## I was on ms contin for 15 yrs and the doc decided to take me off and put me on oxycontin 40 mg 2x a day plus cu...

I saw a program on Australian TV that said Oxycontin would be changed so that the tablets couldn't be used for injecting. Do you know any info about this. ## Purdue Pharma has already changed the formulation in the U.S. They made it so that if someone tries to crush the tablets, or break them down for snorting or injecting, they basically turn into a type of gummy goo that retains its time released properties. Learn more Oxycontin details here. I am really not surprised that they are following suit in other countries, as well. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Are the new oxys fully abuse proof now? ## Not only that but they have added naltrexone which will through you into instant withdrawal. It will kill quite a few addicts. If you are getting them from a doctor tell t...
