My Doc prescribed me 15 mg of Morphine. Ive been on vicodin 7.5 mg for three years. How much of a difference is morphine? I took half of the blue pill just now. ## The Morphine is stronger than the Hydrocodone in the Vicodin, it is also a straight narcotic, without the Acetaminophen that is in the Vicodin. It sounds like your doctor is trying to help you get better control of your pain. The main issue here is, what type of Morphine pills are they? If they are the time released version, generics for MS Contin, then cutting the pill in half could be very dangerous and should not be done. It can cause you to have too much of the medication released at once. The side effects are similar and may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. You can read more here: Do you know what ty... ...

Can you take 2 to make it 30mg ## Yes, the medication would be released into your body, just the same as if you took a 30mg extended release tablet, any fluctuation would be so slight as to not be noticeable or therapeutically significant. Learn more Morphine information here. It is not, however, safe to change your dosage without your doctor's approval, since this a narcotic and there can be risks associated with its use. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I was prescribed 15mg morphine er twice a day. I think that the night time pill disturbs my breathing at night. Can I reduce my dosage down to just one 15 mg pill in the morning? ## Maybe you should adjust the times you take your medication. My dr told me to take my morphine or Lortab at least 2 hrs before going to bed... ...

taking morphine 15 mg S A. Have been on hydrocodone 10/325APAP, and oxycodone 10/325APAP. Don't seem to be getting any relief from the morphine. Is this just a transitition, or could there be an issue here ? ## Have you consulted your doctor? It could really be either that the dose of the Morphine isn't high enough to handle your pain, or some withdrawal/rebound effects from switching medications and there is also a possibility that it's a combination of both. ## I feel that I am not getting the relief I used to get from my medication. For the past 5 years I have been taking 6 norcos 10/325 and beginning 2 years ago I began to take 2 Oycontin 40 mg per day. My doctor is very difficult to talk to about increasing my dosage. I am new to this fourm, and I have a few questions someone may be able to answer. I have chronic back pain as a result of Cauda Equina Snydrome, and an injury at L5/S1. My Pain Mgt doc made a med change about 3 wks ago. I was one taking Oxycodone 15 MG tablets, but I was still having a LOT of breakthrough pain. As of 3 wks ago, my doc ADDED Morphine Sulf 15 MG's SRT. The combination of the two meds appears to be working but there are still some minor pain issues. I spoke with my doc the other day and we will talk again on Feb 2nd. He told me he thinks going to the 15 MG Morphine Sulf every 8 hrs, vs 12 hrs will help. He alos wanted to see if I could go to 10 MG's of Oxycodone as needed 8 hrs, vs 15 MG's of Oxycodone as needed every 8 hrs. In sum, the 15's MG's of Mor... ...

15 mg or 60 mg of morphine
6 Replies RSS
Hi. I have been on 60 mg of morphine sulfate for 3 years. Me and my doctor talked about either upping my dose of morphine or changing it, so we went with a higher dose of morphine. When I filled my Rx I noticed it was for 15 mg of morphine. Is 15mg of morphine stronger than 60mg of morphine? Both are extended release. ## Hi, I was on morphine for 4 years and 60 mg. Is definitely stronger than 15. He lowered your dose or you should have gotten both the 60mg and the 15 mg. To go along with the 60mg. Thats what my dr. gave me when I needed more. ## VALERIE: It doesn't sound like your doctor is very competent. How can 15mgs be STRONGER than 60 mgs? This makes no sense. Maybe he meant for you to take an ADDITIONAL 15 mgs with the 60? I would call them IMMEDIATELY!! ## Im sorry my mistake... ...

My Dr prescribes 20mg oxycodone on a monthly basis for my chronic pain. I've been having to take a UA every month when I go to see him. Is this normal practice? I don't abuse the pills. He will only prescribe 75 20 b mgs per month. This is not enough to control my pain but it at least lessens it. Should I find a different dr? I've been a patient there for 5 years. Thx. ## Most doctors will require UA's, now, when a patient is on a controlled substance. They want to make sure that you're taking it, as prescribed and not selling them. They also want to make sure that you aren't taking anything that hasn't been prescribed. Additionally, there are limits on how much they can prescribe, these were put in place by the DEA last year and that also applies to all doct... ...

how many 10 mg hydrododone equal morphine 60 mg sa tab. ## To equal 60mgs of Morphine, you would need 15mgs of the Hydrocodone. If you have Hydrocodone, with Acetaminophen, however, you do have to be careful not to overdose on it. You shouldn't take more than 1,000mgs of Acetaminophen at a time and no more than 4,000mgs in 24 hours, because amounts over that can be toxic and the toxicity reactions can be fatal. Are they injectable the morphine 15 mg with the (54-733)on it ? ## No, no tablets are safe to inject, they are only intended to be swallowed, so they have not been formulated for injection. Tablets contain fillers and not all of them are meant to be broken down by the human body, they are normally just expelled as waste. If you try to break them down and inject them, these substances could cause blockages that may lead to embolism or stroke. Learn more Morphine details here. I am currently taking 15 mg of morphine er twice daily and have been for 4 months now for chronic severe back pain. I have been noticing the last 2 weeks that it's not working as well. Is it safe to take 2 at once? ## Hello, Crystal! How are you? No, you shouldn't adjust your dosage, without your doctor's approval. That could be too much for you to take and may cause a dangerous overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The best thing to do would be to contact your doctor, inform them of the problem and then see what they advise. Is there anything else I can help with? ...
