I'm new to MSIR ER 60mg and 30mg 4 x's per day for breakthrough pain and 3 x's a day on ER. Is this too much? ## The extend release is normally taken twice a day. If you haven't been taking Morphine what you stated is too much. FDA guidelines state a patient isn't suppose to be prescribed more than 120 mg Morphine a day.

This is the highest dosage unit of immediate release morphine made anywhere, just the one brand, VERMOR-60 by Verve Healthcare. I take them simply because they are much cheaper than any other morphine sulphate I have ever come across, and I need three 'rescue' doses of an opioid analgesic daily since my Oxycontin 120mg tablets seem to last only 6 hours, and not the twelve claimed on the box... Has anybody noticed that the new caplet shaped tabs are subjectively stronger than the old round ones? ## Just as a wee addition to my original post - SEVREDOL is the 'Gold Standard' & most-dispensed brand of IR morphine, being found in most countries (as will be evident to those who use IOPs to acquire medication), & are made in green 50mg, pink 20mg and turquoise 10mg tab...

I'm on Morphine sulf 60mg ER 1 table every 12 hours plus Fentora 400 MCG Buccal tablet 1 every 6 hours. I'm ran out of the Morphine Sulf and none of the farmacy have it on stock. Now I'm with a lot of pain, I think because I'm getting the morphine out of my system, but I do have at home Oxycodone 15 MG. Do you know if I can substitute the morphine for the Oxycodone safely until I get the Morphine back within 2 days. Also if I take the Oxycodone can I still take the Fentora safely. I will not take it together, but like I take Oxycodone now and within one hour it's the time for Fentora. ## Hi, Santa! Sorry about the problem that you're having finding your medication. And yes, a sudden withdrawal from the Morphine can cause a rebound effect, which could cause worse p...

I have been tapering off of 60 mgs of morphine for the last 3 months. I've been on it for 10 years. First on 120 mgs then in 2009 went to 90 and then to 60 by 2011, up to 90 for 9 months after tri level fusion in neck between c4-c7. Best thing I ever did was the surgery and it wasn't a bad recovery at all. I'm very happy with it. Anyway now I'm down to 5 mgs and thinking about just stopping. I have heard this part will be the hardest. Is this true? My withdrawals have not been bad and I have worked thru it all. Just nervous. Thanks. ## Hello, Tammy! How are you? That's not a very high dose to stop abruptly, but yes, you will most likely experience some withdrawal symptoms. The FDA lists them as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, rebound pain and diarrhea. It c...

I have a purple little round pill with a M in a square on one side and on the other side it has the # 30. When I looked it up it showed morphine sulfate Sr. My questions are #1. Are these considered extended release? And #2. If so, how often should I be taking them? 1 every 12 hours or 1 every 24 hours. ## Hello, Star! How are you? Yes, the SR stands for sustained release, so it is a time release formulation. They are usually dosed every 12 hours, but you should follow your doctor's prescribing instructions, if they are different. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you very...

I recently was switched from 15mg IR to 7.5m gIR, I also take one 15mg CR every 12 hours. I neglegted to ask how much of a difference the 7. would be as opposed to the 15mg IR. I have fibromyalgia, costrocondritus, neck and back anomlies, fractured S1/T2 and the sacrum is cracked. The discs in between; one bulging, one flat and leaking into the siatic nerve. I also have panic disorder (take 5mg Diazepam 3x per bid). Robaxin, 150mg 4x daily, Zoloft 50mg per day. Ompemrazole/ranitidine 1, 2x per day. All from an MVA/2 slip & falls. ## Well, it is half the dose you were taking, so it probably won't give you as much pain control. Learn more Morphine details here. Is there a reason you were given for the dosage reduction? ## I have fibromyalgia n 8 herniated discs plus 2 crushed n 1r...

My 28 yr old son is on day 4 following a tonsillectomy. He was originally prescribed 5 mg oxycodone every three hours and 15mg extended release morphine every 12 hours. The oxy was only providing relief for 2 hours, so doctor prescribed two dilaudid (2mg), every 3 hrs, in place of oxy. He got a horrible headache after taking the dilaided, so he returned to the oxy. My question is: should he discontinue time release morphine as he is very concerned about his headache returning from the morphine. Thanking you in advance. ## Hello, Beth! How is he doing? If the Morphine hadn't caused headaches before, why does he think it would start doing so? I'm not quite sure that I'm understanding your question. Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you! What is the difference between 15 mg morphine and 15 mg morphine er ## Hello, Renee! How are you? The ER designates that one as being time released, so the dose is slowly released over a period of 12 hours, the one without such a designator is a regular release pill, so the complete dose is released within about 15 to 20 minutes of taking it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

how often can i take morphine 15 SR in a 24 hour period ## This is the sustained release Morphine, which means the medication is released slowly over time and it is meant to be taken every 2 hours, so twice a day. Learn more Morphine details here. If it isn't handling your pain, then you may want to speak to your doctor about upping the dosage, or adding a short acting medication for breakthrough pain. I have several questions. In general is morphine stroger than oxy ??? If oxy is stronger than morphine does anyone have suggestions on how to approach Dr ( this will b second visit. Dr seems sympathetic, is conservative) ??? Dr tells me MS Contin ER is supposed to last 12 hrs per tab, he started me 3x a day. I find that morphine only lasts 3-4 hrs @ most...how do I bring it up that I need more daily, something stronger than 30 mg ER, and or something for breakthrough (he can see that prev doc prescribed (30 mg IR oxy @ 8x daily as well as break through meds...he retired) ?? Any help or suggestions be appreciated ## Oxycodone is stronger than Morphine. For example, if you were taking a 10mg Morphine tablet, then to be an equivalent dosage, you'd only need 6.67mgs of Oxycodone. Learn ...

I cant take oxcycode there is no way. and Im always out of my meds before my next appointment 3-4 days before . ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Under the new directives from the DEA, probably not. However, you could speak to her about adding a regular release Morphine as a breakthrough medication to help get better control of your pain. Whether or not she does is up to her, though. How long does ER 60 mg morphine give pain relief per dose? ## Hi, Jane! How are you? These are designed to slowly release the medication over a period of 12 hours, so they are normally prescribed to be taken twice daily. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## how often should you take 60mg morphine tablets? After two years on oxycodone 10mg 4x daily withdrawal between doses was getting unbearable so doc switched me to morphine ER 15mg 2x daily with oxycodone 5 mg for breakthrough pain. I just started today. I took the pill at about noon and now it is 7pm and I feel withdrawal symptoms. I want to know if it is common for morphine ER to not last a full 12 hours as advertised. ## Hello, Liz! How are you doing? I am sorry about how you feeling? Has there been any change? The issue here might be due to the fact that Morphine is not as strong as Oxycodone, each 15mgs of Morphine is equivalent to 10mgs of Oxycodone, Thus, your dosage has not actually be changed, or increased. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, diz...

Mom is sleeping 90 percent of the time. Has no real need for Percs anymore. Wondering if this sleeping all the time after getting adjusted to dose soon. Thank You for helping me.
