Hi Everyone! I started taking Metoprolol Er Succinate about a week ago. My heart rate was spiking too high while working out. After a stress test my doctor thinks I have a thyroid problem and but me on the medicine until I get my blood results back. The thing is I am only 22 years old. I would like to go out drinking tomorrow with my friends. I am thinking about not taking my medicine that night ( I usually take it at night) to avoid possible side effects. Has anyone drank on this medicine before? Am I good to go? I saw online it may make side effects worse but I am mainly concern whether mixing the two is fatal or not. I want to get better but I also don't want to give up my youth. Please help! ## I take it also, since 2008 I believe. Doc prescribed it to me for my palpitations. I ...

How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you've had. The joint and muscle pain can be normal side effects of this medication and has caused many people to have to stop taking it. It can also cause dizziness, hair loss and increased urination, as reported by the FDA. It made me very miserable, when I tried it and I had to stop taking it, too. That rash, however, isn't listed, though it has been known to cause a general rash, with itching. What medication d...

My generic toprol xl just changed to this and I want info on this manufacturer to see if there are any problems with it. ## I was also changed to the Actavis Metoprolol success er 25 MG due to lack of availability or discontinuation of Mylan's generic version. I find the Avtavis version not nearly as effective as Mylan and am trying to learn the status of the Mylan MT1 version, or the effectiveness of other generics for this drug. ## Although some manufacturers have a reputation for more or less effective meds, I find that everyone's response/reaction is also going to vary based on several factors; including but not limited to one's unique body chemistry, metabolism, sensitivities to inert ingredients, etc. That said, trial and error may be the only way to determine what wor...

My doctor just put on Metoprolol ER Succinate 25 mg is this part of the recent recall? ## Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is used to treat hypertension and some cardiac problems. As to whether or not it was part of the recall, I can't tell you anything, without knowing the manufacturer of the particular pills you have receive, since this a generic that is made by several different companies and not all were involved in the recall. However, it is doubtful that they are, since your pharmacy would have already removed anything that met the criteria of the recall from their shelves and returned them, so they are not dispensed to the public. This medication may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and headache. Learn more: Are there any other questions?

I could not sleep the last two nights and wonder if there is a sleep aid safe to take with the metoprolol er succinate that I have been taking in the morning and evening, 25 mg pills. Been taking these b/p pills for months now. ## Hello, Peg! How are you? The main problem with them is that most sleep aids, such as Tylenol PM, Unisom and etc. use antihistamines, which may not always be safe for someone that has high blood pressure, because they can cause further elevations, according to the FDA. Thus, you should not take them, unless your doctor specifies that it is safe for you to do so. There may also be an issue if someone is overweight, since they may cause more weight gain. Would it be ok to take at bed time......afraid if I take it in the morning I'll sleep all day! ## Hello, Emily! How are you? It can be taken at night, as long as your doctor approves. The reason they usually tell someone to take it in the morning is so that it can help control blood pressure and heart rate during the times of a day a person will usually experience the most fluctuations. However, this is the time released formulation, so there should not be a problem. The FDA patient advisory leaflet lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is ...

This voluntary action by Sandoz is due to deficiencies in documentation practices and in-process controls for this product. This voluntary recall is being conducted down to the retail level with the knowledge of the FDA. The affected lots were shipped approximately between November 2006 and October ...

Last night I might have taken Nifedipine er 30mg two times accidentally....at 8:30 and at 10:30. I had no side effects except for my pulse increasing from 73 to 93 within an hour of the second pill. It is now 6:23 a.m. I am fine but a little hesitant about whether to take my metoprolol succinate er 25 mg at 10:30 this morning. And do I resume the regular dose of Nifedipine tonight at about 9 pm? ## Did you experience any other symptoms? The FDA lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, and hypotension.
