My MD prescribed this for inflammation in head, ears, nose, throat and cough along with an inhaler. I am on day 5 and although I am improving, I still have a nasty dry cough which has not improved. Maybe I am not using the inhaler properly. I do have some side effects from the methylpred 4mg but tolerable. I would like to take something for this persistant cough but am afraid to mix with meds. Actually no, it is not recommended that these be taken together, by anyone, regardless of age and being elderly can worsen the issues that may occur. They both tend to increase the amounts of the other that you absorb and, in the case of Levofloxacin, the FDA reports that it can significantly increase the risk of a tendon rupture. The other typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, acne, insomnia and diarrhea. My Dr prescribed this yesterday. I have taken a total of 10 pill=40mg. I am terribly sick. Throwing up, diarrhea, extreme headache, my body feels like it's on fire but after taking my temp it only reads 94.7. I feel horrible. Muscle weakness, blurry eyes. so i have been taking methylprednisolone for three days. I am having pain in my sides/ribs upper back and all the way into my neck and some of my cheek bones. the pain is about a 5 out of 10 on the scale. my sons MRI scan has shown inflamation/swelling of the lining of his spinal cord near his neck. he is seeing a neurologist as his hands and feet have been numb and tingling, sometimes feeling as heavy as lead, and hard to lift. has anyone had this problem, and what was the outcome/diagnosis please. ## with ref to the above. I just started this med today for sciatica. I've taken 5 out of the 6 tablets for today so far. Experiencing fatigue, dizziness, severe muscle cramping in legs and hands, racing heartbeat and feeling totally out of it. I think the side effects are worse than the pain. Can I just stop taking this without more serious problems? I started taking the medication yesterday and took 6, today i take 5, then 4, and 3, etc so for 6 days total. I am taking this along with Augmentinj 875 mg, every 12 hours. I have had a horrible sinus/ ear infection for at least 3 months and haven't been able to taste food or smell anything. Body aches, headaches, horrible anxiety and terrible fatigue. Mid day yesterday I started feeling so much better, my sense of smell came back last night and I cried. I enjoyed dinner so much I could finally taste food. I am curious, why not methylprednisolone tab 2 or 4mg is not available in Dublin..since it is used in patients with inflammed tonsils..My Fiance is in Dublin, the doctor prescribed him calvepen which is I saw alot of complaints made by some due to its side effects...with methylprednisolone tablet the inflammation subsides in no time..second day the patient has no sore throat and feels better...And its pnly good 3days..while calvepen 10 days but yet the patient is still complaining of sorethroat, I know its antibiotics.. ## Yes, the main difference here is that while the Methylprednisolone may help with the inflammation, it is not an antibiotic and will do nothing for the underlying infection that is causing the tonsil problem. This is my second day on this drug and it was wonderful the next day after taking it. Took it for awful pain just below my neck and pain in lower back. Horrible for RA. I was put on the 6 day methylprednisolone pack because of a back injury. I just took my first two tablets this morning. After I took them, I read its bad to take with high blood pressure. I have high blood pressure and take lisinopril for this but it doesn't always control it. Would I be okay just not to take any more of the pills? I only took the two, that's all. I usually take prednisone on an as needed basis but was prescribed this 7 day prescription. My Dr prescribed this to me for hedaches I did not know they were steroids until after I took the 1 dose 2 pills for breakfast and 1 for lunch. I did not finish the fist day dose. ## I was just prescribed this med. and am afraid to take it. ## Why are you afraid to take it? It is generic prednisone which is a steroiod. You dont want to take it all the time, but it really works for imflammation in the lungs, in the joints, etc. Side effects include massive hunger, dizziness, thirst, among others. ## Methylprednisolone Info Click Here ## How long is Methylprednisol good on the shelf. In the last four months I've been prescribed dosepacks three times by two different doctors plus shots a few months before that. After reading about the dangers im scared but can't undo what is done. Am I in trouble here? ## Doubtful, usually such issues would be noticeable either while taking the dose pack, or shortly after finishing, according to the NIH. Have you experienced any fluid retention? Or sudden weight gain? The FDA lists those as possible warning signs of issues. Are you on any other medications?
