Since I started taking Topamax a few weeks ago, I feel great but also manic which is dangerous for me. Anyone else experiencing mania while on Topamax? ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? Have you spoken to your doctor? You will most likely need to switch to a different medication. Hx. of Bipolar Disorder. Prescribed Reglan for Gastroparesis. Manic state after day 2 of med. Quit taking med. Decreasing Mania. Take Lithium for Bipolar Disorder. ## Yes, it has been known to cause mania and depression in people that suffer from prior psychiatric disorders. Usually, this can be avoided by stopping it and slowly titrating the dose upwards, so you may to consult with your prescriber about trying that. Is there anything else I can help with?

HAs anyone had experience with Lamictal causing mania? It definetely did for me. Landed me in the hospital for 6 days and took a full month to subside. I have been on it for 3 months at 25 mg/day and can't stand it anymore. I am feeling that anger and uncontorollable impulses again. and no sleep. So I have calculated it out and it seems like my period will be here right in the middle of my week vacation =[. I have suffered from these diseases for as long as I can remember. In the past year it has gotten worse. I know longer want to leave the house (which I don't), I don't want to be around people, I am not interested in all the things I used to be. The anxiety and and panic disorders are out of control. History of mildly atypical reactions to anti psychotics and anti convolsants. Bipolar I. Took recommended dose provided by GP, proceeded to have first manic episode which lasted a week and had devasta ting results. I was born with manic-depression as was my mother, her grandmother, my brother and my daughter. The ONLY medication that gets me out of bed and on my feet and out the front door is amphetemine salts. I do not have a thyroid gland, have chronic fatigue syndrome and have never had energy which made even drying myself off with a towel a chore because the towel was so darn heavy. I am 55 years old.
