I am searching for a good pain management doctor in Louisiana. The only pain medication I can tolerate is Methadone. ## You will need a copy of your medical records from your previous dr. There is no guarantee that another dr will prescribe you Methadone. When someone asks for a specific drug, it is a red flag or drug seekers. So it might be best to get an appointment and see a dr and take your medical records. You might have to see them for a few months before you will know if they will prescribe you Methadone. ## I have been in chronic pain for more than 17 yrs. since 2000. I had 3 disc badly ruptured and rendered me disabled, multiple back inj's, mri, cat scans, etc. I had a pain management doctor but he moved. I need a pain management doctor in Lake Charles Louisiana. Is there a list of them that will prescribe pain & aniexty meds ? Help please !! ## Hello, SurvivorAngel! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were set forth by the DEA last year, you'll not likely be able to have pain and anxiety medications prescribed by the same doctor. Which means, for your anxiety, you'd need to see a psychiatrist. And unfortunately no, there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe. You have to set up appointment with new doctors, go to the appointments, make sure they receive a full copy of your current medical records and then discuss your treatment options. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regular that might be able to refer you to the approp...

I need to find a Dr. To write a Rx. For hydrocodin for chronic back pain, where can I find one in Southern Louisiana? ## Well, first of all, there is no listing to refer to that tells you what doctors in any given location will prescribe any given medication. And the next issues is that you really aren't going to be able to see a new doctor and ask for a specific medication, because they are taught to see that as drug seeking behavior. Learn more Vicodin details here. Your best bet, if you need long-term pain management, is to see a pain management specialist and set up an appointment to get in the door, without asking is they will prescribe anything. Then make sure that they get a full copy of your medical records, so the documented medical problems and notes from your prior doctor...

I have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Ple...

My husband and I are looking for a new pain management doctor, because the one we go to in Lake Charles, LA seems intent on bleeding us for every penny we have and threatening to not make us appointments for the following month if we don't pay the amount that they tell us we need to pay. My husband is disabled, but is still waiting for his SSI to be approved. In 2008, he was driving a log truck with an unloaded trailer and he was hit head on by a pickup truck. Point of impact was shown to my husband by the Trooper that was there, and it was on my husband's side of the road on the white line. He was trying to ditch the truck instead of get hit, but the guy whipped over too fast for my husband to get to the ditch. This was on a 2 lane blacktop road. The front tire and the tank wit...

I need a new pm doc anywhere in Louisiana or nearby state asap. I have med rec;s and legit pain but my doc got n2 trouble and cannot prescribe my meds any longer. ive been on oxy's for years and cant find a doc who will take my case. ## The first question I always find myself asking people in your situation is... How have you been looking for a new doctor? And the reason I'm asking is because if you're calling them and telling them you need to have certain medications prescribed, none of them are likely to even let you get in the door, because most doctors will see that as drug seeking behavior. Someone please post the names of pain management physicians in Louisiana. Thank you. Everyone seems to give advise but no information we can use to get help. ## Put Pain Management Doctors and your city and state in google and the names of the drs in your area will come up. You can also go to websites like Healthgrades and Vitals to find the name of pain management drs in your area and things like the education and training of the dr. No one can tell you what a dr will and won't prescribe for anyone. If you have insurance, contact your insurance company and ask for pain management drs in your area that accept your insurance. Healthgrades and VItals do list insurances that drs accept, but the list is Not current.

Does anyone know of Dr who prescribes MS Contin for pain in Louisiana? Close to Slidell, I just moved here from Tx, and have tried one dr and called numerous with no results. I've tried many alternatives with no luck either and info would be helpful! ## Unfortunately, you will not likely have any good results if you are calling doctors, and asking if they prescribe any controlled substance. The person answering the phone at their office has no way of knowing if the person that called is a legitimate patient with a need, or just a drug seeker, so they are usually instructed to just tell you that they don't prescribe them, and get you off the phone. The same happens with most pharmacies if you just call to ask them about filling a prescription for a controlled substance. The only ...

My wife has been on Methadone for 5 yrs for pain. We live in south Louisiana but her pain management doctor is in south arkansas where we used to live. Up until today Walgreens has been filling her script. Today they told us they will no longer fill out of state scripts. We have not changed her pain management doctor simply because all of the doctors we have gone to see here have told her they would take her off the methadone and start back with something like Hydrocodone and work back up to the methadone if needed. We spent 3 yrs doing that before she was put on methadone. 3 yrs of pain. I refuse to make her do that again. I will drive her to Arkansas every time she needs to see the doctor and get a script filled if needed. But if at all possible we would like to find a way to not have...

My pain management doctor has gone MIA (Dr. William Knight, Metairie, Louisiana). He has gone- there's no trouble reported to Louisiana Medical Board. Just gone. The 3 months worth of prescriptions he wrote me for Norco & MS Contin are almost gone too. I can't find a new pain dr. here (on the Mississippi Coast or New Orleans) who will take my Obamacare OR even take cash-pay patients. Additionally, I take a (low) dose of Xanax prescribed by the psychiatrist I began seeing with the onset of my chronic pain (bicycle crash). So, benzos, too. :-( Is there a doctor who will treat me in this new culture of pain medicine? I am really afraid. I am in my late fifties. ## Liz, I'm so sorry to hear of your predicament. I have no menisus left it's bone against bone. ## Have you considered a pain management specialist? There are several in that area, but there's really no way of knowing what they will, or will not prescribe, if anything.
