I have been on losartan 100mg 25mg HTCZ (LUP) for over 2 years. Recently pharmacy filled using a different manufacturer (NOR) and WOW!!! Once it was in my system I awoke in the middle of the night with dizziness to the point of waking me up. Thinking it was an inner ear issue I continued taking for almost a month. Dizziness and lightheadness continued but not as bad as the first night. (Several times during the day) I felt like I was walking around in a fog and almost felt like it was poisoning me. Went to the Dr. And back to the pharmacy to make sure I was put back on the drug I had been on for 2 years with little problems. I'm not one to complain only trying to help someone else before they spend a month trying to figure out what's going on. ## Wow, Cindy! I am so very sorry a...

Since I am taking the oval green pill my blood pressure is high on the round white pill I was fine I take 100mg ## Hello, Anna! How are you? What are the markings on the tablet? That is what would enable me to research more information you. Can you please post back and clarify? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Are you on any other medications? Has anything else changed in your diet, or lifestyle?

I got this generic drug from WalMart last year manufactured by Merck. It was amazing. Then they switched to same generic drug manufactured by TEVA Pharmaceutical (from white oval shaped pills in a bottle to little green pills in cardboard package), and they didn't do a darn thing. It was like not taking anything at ALL. Did Merck stop making the generic version? It used to have the monopoly on Cozaar before the generic version of losartan potassium came out. ## Hello, WaterBaby! How are you? The generic that any given pharmacy carries can change regularly, depending on what manufacturer was offering the cheapest price, at the time they needed to restock their supply. I am, however, not aware of Merck having made a generic, they are just listed as making the name brand. I have been t...

Dear Pres. Info.: My husband was prescribed Losartan 25mg yesterday. However, there were 2 different looking tablets in the bottles. Thanks to your web site, I was able to identify the white round one with 572 is in fact Losartan 25mg. The other one is "light green colored, oblong shaped" and the number '7364' on one side & the number "93" on the other side. Is this really Losartan 25 mg also??? Thank you in advance for your time and assistance to identify this drug. Most sincerely, Emily ## Hi Emily! Yes, the tablet with the 93 7364 also contains 25mgs of Losartan, which is used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions. Pills by different manufacturers will sometimes be used, if the pharmacy doesn't have enough of one to completely fill the pr...

The losartan by Cambe manufacturer I have taken for years. This week my pharmacist gave me losartan by Metho manufacturers. Now I have face swelling. Coukd this be caused by changing generic manufacturers and the different ingredients. Also it itches. ## Hello, Debbie! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Those could be the symptoms of an allergic reaction starting, according to NIH symptom lists, so it would be best to have this checked out by a medical professional. Have you experienced any other problems, such as difficulty breathing, or hives? Are you on any other medications?

I was prescribed Losartan Pot 25mg. When the prescription was first filled, I received a green, oblong, tablet. When it was renewed, I received a tiny, round, pink pill. Is this just a manufacturer's difference, depending on who made the drug or is it something else, like being given the wrong medication?Frank ## Losartan is a generic medication, so it is manufactured by several different companies, but I can't really tell you any specifics, without knowing the markings on the tablets in question. Can you please post back with this information? If you do so, I will gladly check for you. Is there anything else I can help with?

My Losartan 50mg white round pill has an odor when opened. It also states on the bottle from Walmart, "issued MAR 2015". Is this good? ## Hello, Palette! How are you? If it isn't coated, Losartan always has an odd odor, I've taken it from several different manufacturers over the years and I've experienced this, as well, I can also tell you that tasting it is even worse!!! I've accidentally had it happen, before, and it was not pleasant! Pills generally have an expiration date of one year from when you receive them from your pharmacy, if they are in a normal pharmacy bottle, but the expiration date can be as long as 4 to 5 years, if they are still in the original factory sealed container. The FDA does warn that they may lose efficacy, once expired, so they may not...

What link will help me find out if my Losartan is on recall? Is Losartan/HCT 100-12.5 mg made in the USA? Is there any recall on NDC 43547-425-09? ## Hi Linda, as to your original question about a recall, I checked on FDA MedWatch and did not find anything about your specific brand of Losartan/HCTZ tablets (NDC 43547-425, manufactured by Solco) being recalled. Solco did have a recall of Valsartan/HCTZ in 2018 [1]. What you might be referring to is the Losartan/HCTZ recall from Torrent Pharmaceuticals [2], [3] ... but that is a different manufacturer and NDC code than what you originally listed. Also, as far as where this drug is manufactured, it could vary. For example, Solco is based in the United States, but they could outsource their manufacturing or some ingredients from other count...

Just started taking losartan 1/2 pill 12.5mg by a new manufacturer AuRobindo and I cannot stop coughing. I stopped them 2 days ago and still have a lingering cough. ## Hello, Snookie! How are you doing? Has there been any change? That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. If you need to take a medication like this for high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition, however, it would be best to see your doctor about trying a different one. ## Thanks, I really hate the medication, I've gained weight and have low energy. My heart doesn't pump hard enough I've been thinking about talking to the Dr about a pacemaker. We'll see what he thinks about that.

ingredients of this drug including all the fillers, etcl ## I'm sorry, but since you didn't specify a manufacturer, I can't tell you what the particular fillers/inactive ingredients are. This is a generic for Cozaar, so it is made by several different companies and the inactive ingredients can vary. The active ingredient is the Losartan, which is an ARB that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach pain. Learn more: Can you post back with more details, such as the manufacturer or markings on the pills? ## I am experiencing a rash on my torso and wonder if it is becing caused by my generic hydrochlorothiazide losartan - 25 mg. with ZD19. Recently changed pharmacies. The old pharmacy dispensed in the manufacture bottle relabled with my script info. The dosage is 50 mg. The old script the pills are oval green color, with markings Side 1: 93 and side 2: 7365. The new pharmacy dispensed in a regular perscription bottle. The new pills are white, oblong with markings Side 1: P22 and side 2: LU. I questioned the difference with the pharmacy and they assured me it was correct. However I still have a concern. ## Yes, the tablets you received do contain 50mgs of Losartan, they are just manufactured by a different company, in this case Lupin Pharmaceuticals, while the ones you were getting at your old pharmacy with the 93 imprint were manufactured by Teva. Most pharmacies don't dispense in the original manufacturers bottles, b...

Where can I find help for the cost of this drug, since I do not have insurance? I need to take it twice a day. The cost is $100...overwhelming cost as I am on a small pension. Thanks! ## Have you considered looking into Rx drug discount cards? Many of them allow you to save 'up to' 75% off your prescription. I think it would be worth while to give it a shot, just to see how much you can save: RX Discount Card Also, certain manufacturers offer some sort of patient assistance program. If you know the manufacturer of your tablets, I would suggest contacting them to inquire about this service. I hope this helps! ## Depending upon the strength of the tablets you are taking, another option under all circumstances is to get it in a higher strength and score the tablet in half. I take a...

My pharmacy changed my losartan so now I get ones manufactured by Aurobindo. I have celiac and am trying to pin down why I feel I've been "glutened". Do you know if this manufacturer uses gluten? ## KLJ, Here is a list of ingredients listed in Losartan manufactured by Aurobindo. (NDC 65862-201 among others) - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Lactose Monohydrate - Starch, Corn - Hydroxypropyl Cellulose, Low Substituted - Magnesium Stearate - Hydroxypropyl Cellulose - Hypromellose 2910 (6 Mpa.s) - Titanium Dioxide - Fd&c Blue No. 2 - D&c Yellow No. 10 - Water Even though gluten a derive ingredient is not on that list, I would still check up with your primary care physician to ensure that none of the ingredients here will cause you to feel "glutened". It's alwa...

Refill is white, Oval, Z16. ??? ## Hi terry, Both of the pills in question are one in the same drug. The only difference I noticed is that they are manufactured by different companies. Because of this, there may be a slight variation of inactive ingredients; but other than that you can be assured that they are the same drug and same dosage. Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may respond favorably with one medication and not the other, due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects present themselves. When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or filler...

Is it possible that my new green 100 mg Losartan makes me feel differently than the white 100 mg? Can the pill change whenever the generic manufacturer changes? Can I get my pharmacy to get me the white pills? ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? Yes, there can be slight fluctuations from one generic to another, so one may affect you differently and make you feel slightly different than another. As to changing with your pharmacy, that is entirely up to them and whether or not they can get the others in for you. Do you happen to remember who the manufacturer was? This medication is an ARB that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. What types of symptoms did it cause? Ho...

I have been taking the 100/25 pale yellow tablet mfg by TEVA. My pharmacist claims they cannot get the tablet due to formulation problems at the mfg. I have been taking a green tablet 100mg Losartan along with a separate HCTZ tablet made by IVAX. I have broken out in hives and itching. This is not the same formulation I was taking before. Going back to the Dr tomorrow. Has there been a report about this before? ## It certainly sounds like you may be allergic to something in one of the tablets. And yes, unfortunately, there has been a shortage. It was reported by all manufacturers a few months ago and was supposed to be resolved in a short period of time, but this obviously has not happened. They've also not provided any explanation for the shortage. It would probably be best to talk...

I have been taking losartan for approximately a year and a half. I have found a very wide variation from month to month in the performance of this generic. The Teva losartan made me so ill that I had to be hospitalized. I recovered practically overnight after going on the hospital's losartan. Since then I have been on a losartan made by Aurobindo. I am going to request that my pharmacist find another company because I find that my blood pressure varies with each new bottle of pills. Not good. Given the recent article in the New York Times about the problems the FDA has had in policing generics from both India and China, I will try to avoid manufacturers from either country. Except for neurologists, I find most medical professionals are not well informed about the problems with gener...

These pills are orane or pink. are they the correct medication? ## losartan potassium 25 mg are usually white these are orange or pink. is it the correct medication? They have 52/210 on one side and blank on the other. ## The marking is actually meant to be an SZ over 210 and yes, they also contain 25mgs of Losartan, which is commonly used to treat hypertension and some cardiac conditions. This is a generic medication, so it is available from many different manufacturers and the ones you get from your pharmacy can vary, depending on what company was offering the cheapest price, when they had to restock their ...

Doctor prescribed this pill for high blood pressure 100mg. On the back of the pill is a #13 and the pill is round medium sized. Anyway I ran out of medicine and I went to the pharmacy but the pill is now oval 100mg #13 and now is twice as big as the round pill that I was taking before. I am so scared that they made a mistake on the medicine. It looks bigger than the one that I was taking. I went to the drug store and the lady that works there told me that is the same thing. It's just that they change manufac. (please help) I did not start that second oval pill yet. ## Hello, Maria! How are you?
