I am taking losartan 100 mg tablet every morning before breakfast. I also take Plavix 75 mg and Levothyroxine 100 mcg in a.m. By lunch time I feel very tired and don't have much energy the rest of the day. After dinner I take Narvasc 5 mg, Zetia 10 mg, aspirin 325 mg, and cephalexine 250 mg. My doctor doesn't seem to be very concerned about the fatigue but I feel it is interfering with my life. Such as gardening, exercising, shopping, etc. Any suggestions? ## How long have you been taking these medications? Fatigue, drowsiness, headache, increased urination, and joint pain can be side effects of these medications. How long will you be taking the antibiotic? Has there been any change? ...

I was prescibed 100mg/25HCTZ of Losartan. I have been taking 5mg/6.5HCTZ of Ziac. I was concerned that the Doc started me off with such a high dose of 100 mg of Losartan when the internet says the starting dose is 50mg. My BP went up hovering around 140/90 while on the Ziac. Any thoughts? ## Hi Charlie, I'm sure your doctor only prescribed what he thought would benefit you, however it is your body and if you are not comfortable with the dosage you should definitely speak with him. He may have prescribed you a larger dose to compete with the Ziac that could still be lingering in your system. In regards to your blood pressure raising while on Ziac, I can't find any information that says high blood pressure is a side effect of the medication since that is what it's supposed to ... ...

I was taking Benicar tab 40mg my pharmacist sent me Losartan tab 100mg. Is that the equivalent or could this be a mistake? ## No, it is not the same medication. Benicar contains Olmesartan, so the Losartan is in the same class, but it is a different drug. Have you contacted them about it? Since they are in the same class, they work the same way, but such a switch shouldn't be made, without your doctors approval. ...

On my prescription for Losartan/HCTZ 100-25mg last month the pill was teardrop shaped and yellow. I just had it refilled and the pill is rectangular, white, and has ZD 19 stamped on it. I think the pharmacy made a mistake. I have not taken them. Please advise!!! ## No, they haven't made a mistake, this tablet also contains 100mgs of Losartan and 25mgs of Hydrochlorothiazide, which are commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. It is common for a pharmacy to switch, depending on whatever company is offering the cheapest price, at the time they have to restock their supply. It's how they keep their prices as low as possible, for their customers that don't have insurance. Since this is a generic medication, it is manufactured by several different... ...

will this med make you feel like you have the flu, light headed, i drink no water at all, can this be causing the problems i have? ## Hello, Dennis! How are you? Yes, it can do that, especially if you don't drink any water! You must drink water, if you're taking this medication. The HCTZ stands for Hydrochlorothiazide, which is a diuretic, is helps reduce blood pressure, along with the Losartan, by removing excess fluid from the body. It sounds like you may be getting dehydrated, because it's removing more than you're taking in each day. I took one pill and an hour later took another one.... What do i need to do? Will it hurt me? ## While it is always best to check with a medical professional, according to most FDA reports, doubling up just once is usually not dangerous, unless someone is allergic/sensitive to a medication. But it may cause you to experience more severe side effects than usual, which could include nausea, dizziness, headache, and increase urination. How are you doing? Taking stress echocardiogram this AM & was wondering withholding taking medication until after procedure. Please advise. Thanks! ## I can see this post was from a few days ago, however, for future reference, in such cases, unless your doctor instructs you to skip the doses of certain medications, before a procedure, you should take them all, as you normally do. Losartan with Hydrochlorothiazide is commonly used to help control high blood pressure and to treat some cardiac conditions and missing a dosage of it, or several doses, could cause rebound effects, which may put you in danger and/or affect the results of these types of tests. How did the test go? ## i have been taking losartan/hct tab 100-25 for about a year. i have been having pain in both legs, tireness, legs feel heavy. I... ...

Should I take tylnol, Advil, Alive or Asprin for body akes? ## Hello, LT! How are you? If you are taking it to lower your blood pressure, then it's very likely that you need to refrain from taking the NSAIDs, such as Advil, Aleve or Aspirin, because they can actually cause blood pressure elevation. You need to check with your doctor to make sure of which is safest for you, but it's likely that you need to stick with just Tylenol. ## Have been taking one Losartan /hct 100-12.5 every morning for about 4 months. I am so sorry that you're in pain. Yes, it can cause the pain like that, especially if the Hydrochlorothiazide in it is causing you to get dehydrated, because it is a diuretic that removes excess fluid from the body. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, stomach pain, and hypotension. As to your iron level, many blood pressure drugs can affect those results, so it might not be accurate. Are you feeling fatigued regularly?
