Librax Chlordiazepoxide + Clidinium

Chlordiazepoxide/clidinium bromide (marketed as Librax) is a fixed-dose combination medication used to treat peptic ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and gastritis. It contains chlordiazepoxide and clidinium bromide. It helps relieve stomach spasms, abdominal cramps, and anxiety related to gastric disorders.[2] Librax is a fixed ratio of these two medications and, as such, is not typically prescribed with an accompanying dosage, but rather directions on how many capsules...

I recently was diagnosed with ibs. Bentyl helped tremendously but after a few pills thought i had reaction. Dr said try librax & if it doesnt work go back to bentyl. Took total of 3-4 librax. Havent taken librax since 10:00 Thurs night. Is it safe to take bentyl because librax isnt working & I dont want to be on it for ibs ## Yes, you should be able to make a clean switch, if your doctor has told you to do so. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, abdominal pain, flatulence, and diarrhea. What reaction did you you think you were having to the Bentyl? How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

Recently found out that Generic Librax is available at Sam's Club and the price for 60 pills, was approx $93.00. Cheapest place I have found. ## not bad... But somewhere there's better :) ## Prices are always subject to change and could certainly be more or less somewhere else on the planet. At least you found an affordable rate to continue getting your meds. Places like Sam's Club and Costco are great for that if you're already a member. Some of the other prices I've seen people pay for the same thing are quite astronomical compared to what you payed. $109, $139.00, and even as much as $364.30 are some of the numbers that come up for 60 tablets of the brand name. Were you using insurance or a drug savings card as well? ## Hi. To anyone who is in need of Librax w/ cl...

prescribed to treat Irritated Bowel Syndrome ## HAVING IRRABILITY,DEPRESSION,STOMACH CRAMPS, DIZZINESS ## I have been having upper right quadrant pain daily times at least 1 month maybe even a little longer And I was diagnosed with gallbladder sludge in 09/2010, but was not treated for it at that time, because I had other major health problems that needed urgent treatment. They discovered a massive blood clot in my abdomen & also in my right thigh) which was treated for with a major clot busting drug two times and was in the hospital for at least a week, maybe a little longer. But now I'm having pain if I eat or if I don't eat. I'm also having a lot diarrhea within 1 to 2 hours after eating anything Family history: Mother has severe IBS and a non functioning gallbladder ...

I have pain in stomach doctor prescribef me anti fungal along with librax and vizilac. He told me to stop antifungaal after 5days but contunue librax and vizilac for a month today i stop antifungal but slight continous pain is still there can it be treated by librax after eating one month. Any side effect of librax and vizylac ## HI, Kotul! How are you feeling? Have things gotten any better? All medications and supplement products can take a few weeks to reach their full effect in the body and really help, that's likely why your doctor wanted you to continue the Librax and Vizylac for a longer period of time. Librax is used to help treat ulcers, IBS and gastritis, because it is helps relieve stomach spasms and abdominal cramps, so it should help if you give it some more time. Are yo...

What is the best way to stop taking Librax for a sleepy senior citizen and long-time Librax user? ## Hello, Tara! How are you? Has the patients doctor instructed them to stop taking it? After being on it for so many years, it is likely best to do a gradual taper, by slowly lowering the dose, while skipping doses. Their doctor should be able to help them set up a proper taper schedule. As listed by the FDA, a sudden stop could result in rebound effects, such as abdominal pain, cramping and constipation.

I was prescribed Librax by my Gastrointeroligist for stomach pain. When I went to CVS they told me my insurance United Health Care would not pay for it. They said the cost was $3,759.00 for 60 pills. Outrageous!! I am 85 years old and cannot afford this. ## That is outrageous indeed! Are you able to get a generic version of this drug filled? Brands tend to be much more expensive. 5mg/2.5mg Chlordiazepoxide / Clidinium (60 capsules) Check this tool from GoodRx to see if any pharmacies near you will honor the discount, it seems to be substantial: Hope this helps!

Is there something over the counter that works like Librax? I have GAD and have occasional morning bouts of irritabal bowel syndrome. I had a prescription for Librax and still have a few but I don't know if the doc will refill it. ## HI, Wendy! No, I'm afraid there isn't. There may be some natural herbal remedies that you could try, if you have a health food/vitamin shop nearby, they are usually pretty knowledgeable about such things and can make suggestions….of course you always need to make sure that your trying such things is okay with your doctor, before doing so. Otherwise, the best suggestion I can make is to discuss the issue with your doctor. They may refill it, it is fairly common for such issues to occur regularly and not really clear up on their own, so many...

I recently went on to AvMed/Medicare in July 2013 and now my Librax and generic are not covered by Medicare. I was given Bentyl and took it for a few weeks and got very, very sick from it. It took about 3 weeks to finally get the Bentyl out of my system.I think this is outrageous that they do not cover for this medication. I started taking it in Nov. 2011 and had great results. I have battling this since I was 24 and now I am 65 and was so happy to finally start to feel good. When I worked they always deducted for Medicare and we have a deduction on our monthy SS checks so why can't we get what we need. In the long run people will be going to the doctor's more often and having test and will cost the insurance company more money. Looks like we have to be indegent or come off a bo...

Medicare has not paid for Librax or it's generic since 2007. I wasn't old enough for Medicare but have to have it because I'm disabled. My doctor was shocked, as she said it had been around for years and was probably one of the $4.00 medications. I've been taking this since 1995 because I have severe IBS. I just looked it up and found that Librax is no longer on the market but the generics are still there. They are just as expensive. The only thing I found that they considered "dangerous" was that it might be habit forming; increased the risks of serious or life-threatening breathing problems, sedation or coma. If I've been taking it that long and haven't had a problem, that ridiculous. Luckily, I found the prescription to help with this. I can't find...

I have lung cancer, COPD, high blood pressure, heartburn, stomach pain, bladder pain and burning, urinary infections, and vaginal dryness and pain and yeast infections. I take pantoprazoloe, lisinop/HCTZ, symbicort, proair, Tylenol, and reclast infusion once a year. The bladder Dr. has given me chlord clidi for my bladder pain and burning. I am worried to take this as it is habit forming and if it will cause problems with my meds and health problems. I wonder if there is a better meds or something better to do for my problems. ## Hi Sylvie, Sorry to hear about your situation. According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are no interactions listed between Librax (chlordiazepoxide and clidinium) & the following medications: Tylenol (acetaminophen) + Lisonopril/Hydrochlor...

I got a prescription for Librax from my Dr. and took it to Costco and they wanted 400.00 for I think 60 pills. That is scamming people. I don't have drug coverage and am a senior and I found this drug back in 1957 and its the only thing that worked to stop my IBS and now I am told that Oceanside who use to make it has closed down and its like its on a Black Market. Virtus was another name on one of my prescriptions that made Librax. What are we suppose to do when this drug actually works? I can't afford 400.00, so, guess I will just use my Imodium or the prescription one Lomotil.

I am suffering from a duodenal ulcer and I have been taking Nexpro RD-40 with Librax for 2 months. It has not cured as well as before. How many days will it continue and what are the side effects? ## All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, regardless of why they are taken. Nexpro-RD contains the active ingredients Esomeprazole and Domperidone, it is used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, which can allow it to heal, over time. Librax contains Chlordiazepoxide and Clidinium and is used to treat similar conditions. Both can cause side effects, so you may experience: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. As to how long you should use, it can take several months for some stomach conditions to heal and an ulcer is pretty bad and will usually take ...

Where do I get help to pay for my Librax medication? Even the generic is 120 dollars. i am so scared as this is the only one that works for me. ## There are actually 2 programs that you can look into for assistance with this medication. One is through RX Outreach and you can contact them for more information at 800-769-3880. The other is through Xubek Pharmaceuticals and you can contact them at 866-699-8239. The income requirements may vary from program to program, which is why I felt it best to list both. Learn more Librax details here. Can you post back and let me know if you have any luck?

are generic capsules ever yellow ## Yes, these are made by a pharmaceutical company called Rivers Edge, this the RE 369 on the capsule. Chlordiazepoxide is a sedative hypnotic, used to treat various conditions, such as anxiety and alcohol withdrawals. Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache. You can read more on the medication here: Do you have any other questions? ## Then it was the incorrect medication since this answer indicates it included only one medication (Librium) when it should have been a combination medication used to treat gastritis. Now I know why it was ineffective. It should habe been a combination of chlordiazepoxide HCI clidinium bromide. (capsules have always been green). ## I also checked out Rivers Edge Pharm...in business since 2003, em...

Just needed some advise if im allergic to Buscopan, can i take Librax? Will i get the same allergy? Do they have the similar ingredients?. ## Hi Kim, What about Buscopan causes the allergy? The type of medication it is? ie: Anti- spasmodic, or a certain ingredient? Librax contains the active ingredients "chlordiazepoxide" and "clidinium", Buscopan contains the active ingredient "hyoscine butylbromide". Therefore, the ingredients don't seem to be similar but I believe that they do treat similar issues. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Librax Details Have you spoken with your doctor about this?

Which drug is better for IBS? I have both prescriptions and directions are the same...4 times daily. ## Hello, Kit! How are you? They are different medications that treat many of the same conditions. There really is no better medication, it depends on what works for you and your body. Have you tried either of them, yet? As reported by the FDA, you may experience side effects, such as nausea, bloating, gas, dizziness and headache.
