does it cause damage to your kidneys? ## NIfedipine is a calcium channel blocker, which is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. I am not finding anything that says it causes kidney damage, but there is no way to say how it can affect any given person that takes it. Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor? If you have existing kidney damage, the dosage does have to be carefully adjusted.

I was prescribed 5/325 mg tablets and told to take 1-2 for pain from kidney stone surgery. I did NOT have it filled because I still had some at home. I took one about 90 minutes ago and realized that they are 10/325. Is it ok to take another one or would that be dangerous. I know nothing about pain meds. ## It would depend on your tolerance and if you're taking any other medications. For someone not used to taking opiates 20mg of Oxycodone is quite a bit. However, it's not enough, in my opinion, to worry about overdose. You'll likely just get very sleepy. If you just took a 10/325 why do you feel the need to take another so soon? Also, if you're taking a benzodiazepine or muscle relaxant be careful. These drugs combined with Oxycodone can synergistically cause respirator...

How are you feeling? Sorry about the health issues. I've been there without insurance and it's not a fun place to be. It's only been a few days, so that's a little too soon to expect the medications to work and resolve the issue. The Sulfa/Trimeth is a generic for Bactrim, it's an antibiotic and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Can Thiocolchicoside be given to a patient with polycystic kidney disease and mild renal insufficiency (i.e. Sr Creatinine of 1.5)? ## Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant with analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. It shouldn't be given to anyone with severe renal insufficiency, however, when someone just has a mild impairment, they can use it, but should be closely monitored by their doctors. The lowered kidney function usually causes increased plasma concentrations of most medications, so their bodies absorb more than the usual amounts and it takes longer for them to process it out. Therefore, their dosage has to be carefully adjusted, as well. ## I just want to read the daily message sent to my mail to keep me updated with the drug's information.

I am getting pain in my kidneys and heartburn taking the pill , dox-cyl hycl 100mg blue pill. Is that a common side affect and what should I drink or eat to take the pain away? ## Are you taking it on an empty stomach? It may help to take it with a light meal, but milk should be avoided, because it can decrease how much of the medication is absorbed. The same problem can arise if you try it with a calcium based antacid, so you'd have to be careful what you take if you try that. You can learn more Doxycycline details here. The best thing to do would be contact your doctor and ask their advice, to see what is safe for you to use to alleviate the problem. As to the kidney pain, have you had diarrhea while taking this? If so, that may be due to some dehydration, so you may need to incre...

I am in palliative care for Multiple sclerosis, Small vessel vasculitis, kidney and heart failure. I also have Cerebral palsy w/spina bifida. I have severe spine degeneration from scoliosis. I can't take NSAIDs anymore. I am allowed only 15mg morphine 3x per day, short acting. I am 65 yrs.old. Doctors tell me I am at risk of respiratory arrest because I also take 1mg of clonazepam 2x daily. I'm in palliative care because I dying, they just can't put a timeline on it. I used to get 100 mg morphine 3x daily w/ norcos for breakthrough pain, for 20 years. I was able to walk, work as a paralegal, garden, ride my horse, go to school. Now I am mostly confined to a wheelchair, due to the FDA "guidelines" for pain mgmt., even though doctors are allowed to give much higher dos...

Some history: im heather, 20 yrs old and i was born with one kidney so everything i take hits me strong. And im not sure if things take longer or shorter to process with one kidney. Ive never worried about my kidney much because ive always taking care of it while still being able to live 100% normal until late. I'm worried i may have done some damage this past week. i did not intend to take the amount of vyvanse i have taken the past few days. I just found myself doing it. But i was recently re prescribed vyvanse for my adhd. I take 60mgs its seriously been since almost a week when i first started them again. I was previously prescribed a higher dose of vyvanse when i was 16 and never had a problem. Just made me sleepy . But this time around is a huge struggle. I took 60mg the first...

I am suffering from osteoporisis and i have been recommened Kondro Acute tablets. Actually i wanted to know if it is safe for Kidney as my right kidney is not functioning, only my left kidney is funtioning so i have to be very careful in taking medicines. Please let me know at the earliest. ## Kondro Acute contains Glucosamine and Diacerein, this combines a supplement claimed to help joint mobility with an interleukin-1 inhibitor. So, the main concern here is the Diacerein, since it is the actual drug component. From what I have found, when someone has lowered kidney function, the dosage of this medication must be adjusted accordingly. Lowered renal function can cause 50% more of this medication to be absorbed by the body than normal, which could result in overdose. Was this prescribed ...

i live in brooklyn terminally ill and cannot fill my prescription of oxycodone 30mg I am sick with kidney failure .. can anyone help??? ## Hi jerry, My research suggests that someone who has kidney disease or kidney failure should only be taking Oxycodone under the care of a medical doctor. Have you considered other- less harsh- methods of pain relief? I imagine that if you are experiencing kidney failure you should seek emergency medical attention, and the doctors/surgeons may be able to provide you with alternatives that could help you-not hurt you. I am not a doctor, but I personally think that If one of your organs is failing, pumping more narcotics into your body won't help your case much. A nutritionist may be able to help you create a diet plan that may be able to help your b...

i am on dialysis for kidney failer. I am also on isosorb mono tab 30 mg . my question is does this medication and my kidneys get along with each other ? ## Hello, Terri! How are you? The only renal side effect listed is possible renal calculus, which translates to kidney stones. So, you do need to be careful of that, because that could affect kidney function. Other typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

My Father has Liver cancer and Kidney stones, the doctor has prescribed Dolcet to treat the discomfort. Would you agree with this prescription or could you recommend another medication to help in this matter. ## It is really best that he follow his doctor's advice, liver cancer can be very problematic and many medications are very harsh on the liver, so his doctor has to carefully consider what is prescribed and the dosage. Dolcet contains Tramadol and Paracetamol and the Paracetamol can also be harsh on the liver. Learn more: DId his doctor give him any other options? ## Thankyou to those who posted a response to my inquiry, I regret to say my father-in-law succumbed to his liver Cancer and passed away last month. He was surrounded by family and friends, passing peacefully.

I am a nurse trying to find out for a friend who has a three month prescription for this drug. She read that it can cause kidney failure. Are there any standard letters that could be faxed to me about this. I used to be in product information and when a health care professional called, we sent out standard letters and gave more information than on the PI. My friend is a wreck and is taking this for a UTI (recurring over and over). Can you help me by calling me at 484-919-6935 or faxing to me 610-292-9257, any standard letters you have about this information. ## I am afraid I do not have any letters to send you, however, the only warnings I see listed for this are for those who already have a renal problem or suffer a severe reaction to the medication. If she has already been using it, t...

My Dr (Mueller) gave me an ultrasound on my right side and it showed fatty liver going down to pancreas and a cyst on my right kidney. He refuses to give me a scan on my left side. I am thinking of switching Dr's fast. Is that a good idea and what should I be doing for proactive care? I am on a diet and exercise as much as I can. ## Hi Sandy, Sorry to hear about your situation. Has this doctor given you any reasons or feedback as to why it may not be a good idea to scan your left side? Or is it out of sheer unethical behavior? Your answer to this question will affect whether or not someone advises you to switch doctors. Maybe he had a good reason? Maybe he didn't? Is he willing to explain his position? As far as proactive care is concerned, I'm surprised that the doctor didn...

Can a patient suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney malfunction (creatine 3.2, urea 105, potassium 4.7) with knee problems take diacerein (100gm) daily? if not, what is the alternative? Is it necessary to avoid taking diacerein when suffering from kidney malfunction? Kindly advise. ## Diacerein can be used by people with kidney problems that have decreased function, but your doctor does have to carefully consider the dosage. Normally they should only prescribe half the amount that they would for people that don't have kidney problems. Decreased kidney function causes the drug to reach higher plasma concentrations in the body and to be processed out much slower. Has your doctor prescribed this and is that same doctor aware of your kidney problem? ## What are the side e...
