Well, I have been on Jardiance for 4 months now. I have lost 42 pounds. I have reduced meds. But I have to say, I am peeing every hour, and am fairly incontinent. I also have a funny ashy taste in my mouth. Is there anybody else out there on this stuff? ## Hello, Rebecca! How are you? I'm sorry about the side effects that you're experiencing. As listed by the FDA, Jardiance is used to treat type 2 diabetes and help boost weight loss. The increased urination is normal, that's how the medication eliminated the excess sugars from the body, other side effects may include nausea, hypotension, UTIs and hypoglycemia. What dosage are you on? You may need an adjustment, if it's pushing you to the point where you are experiencing incontinence. ## I go back to the doctor next week....

I have been taking Jardiance for about 5 weeks now but have had to stop due to thrush that wont go away, I could cope with the thirst and peeing but not this constant thrush, its making me miserable, anyone else experience this and did it go away eventually? ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? Actually, that is most likely due to your being diabetic and not due to the medication. Diabetes is well known to cause thrush in women, according to the NIH. It would be best to consult your doctor, since they may be able to prescribe something that will help prevent it, because it is far more dangerous to go off of the medication and let your blood sugar get out of control. Are you on any other medications? ## Hi, I have been diabetic for 6 years, the doctor who prescribed Jardinance did say it would ...

I’m into month 4 on this journey… I just got my bloodwork back and it’s worse than when I started this drug (Jardiance 10 mg). It seemed to help in the beginning when my morning glucose was 100-105. I have not lost any weight on this…may have gained a few pounds though. So my starting blood sugar was 116-120. Well that has not changed according to my new bloodwork. Starting A1C 6.5, now it’s 6.9! Lipids are higher because I added avocado and nuts to my diet. Starting lipid panel was showing my total cholesterol at 246, now 298! This is frightening… it’s not working. Maybe I should have tried Metformin as it’s been around for so long. ## Hello Sue, how are you doing? Has there been any change? Have you also made other dietary adjustments al...

Hi I take 25mgs of Jardiance after my breakfast and 2000 mg after dinner. Because of having to visit the bathroom much more with the Jardiance in the mornings, could I take it after my evening meal and the Metformin after my breakfast? This would only be while I am away on holiday and then go back to normal taking the tablets as before my holidays ## You should take the medications as instructed by your doctor, if you feel you need to make any changes, even temporarily, you should check with them to make sure it is okay for you to do so. Increased urination can be a typical side effects of these medications, as well as an effect of diabetes. Other side effects, as reported by the FDA, may also including nausea, gas, bloating, stomach pain, diarrhea, and lowered blood sugar levels. How l...

Hi, I started taking Jardiance in August and then in September I started noticing that my ears seem plugged. I am not diabetic but my doctor put me on it for cardiomyopathy. I’ve been to an ENT doctor and there is no reason for the plugged sensation that I have. So could it be the Jardiance? Has anyone else experienced this? I know it isn’t one of the side effects listed, but I’m at a loss as to what is wrong with my ears. ## I don't see anything listed by the FDA as to it being known to affect ears/hearing. The typical side effects usually include: nausea, dizziness, increased thirst, and increased urination. Ref: Jardiance Information Are you on any other medications?

Can I take Jardiance? Pre diabetes, my A1C has been holding at 5.7 for 2 years. Can I take this medication to lower my A1C? Switched from Invokana to Jardiance 2 months ago. I had lost 3-4 pounds on Invokana. Since taking Jardiance I have lost an additional 7 pounds; at my lowest weight in over 30 years. Love it except for all the peeing. ## Weight loss is not listed as a side effect in FDA reports, but it is never easy to say how any given medication will actually affect anyone that takes it. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including dizziness, headache, hypoglycemia, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

So my doctor gave me the free year of jardiance card w/ prescription and says it will block sugar from remaining in my system or whatever. I'm not diabetic, I'm 29, 6'3" 265 lbs but not in bad shape and he says it will help me lose weight. I haven't seen or heard of anyone taking it for this purpose and just curious if anyone has any insight. I know the side effects but I'm not prone to infections or diabetic so I don't know..... ## Hello, Stewie! How are you? Well, only you can make the final decision on whether or not to take it, but yes, many oral antidiabetic medications have been shown to help with weight loss, by improving the body's use and processing of insulin. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, flatulence, diarrhea and stomach pain. Is ...

I’ve been on Jardiance for 4 years and I’m suffering from bad side effects. Do I really have to take this medication for the rest of my life? I already take Glicizide, Metformin, high blood pressure pills, plus a cholesterol pill. I was taking ASA 81 mg, but I was told not to take those anymore. Please help me or give some advice. ## It is odd to keep experiencing side effects if you've been on a steady dose for a long period of time. What symptoms have you been experiencing? I have been on Jardiance for over two weeks now. I have experienced dizziness, nausea, headaches, and shakiness and some diarrhea. Are these common side effects? I called my doctor today and she wants me to continue for a few more weeks. Do these side effects subside? How long does it take? I take no other medication for diabetes. I had been taking Invokana but due to insurance I had to switch. My last A1C was 5.7. Can anyone help with side effects? Should I take at night rather than morning? Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. ## Yes, those can be normal side effects of this medication, you may also experience stomach pain, and flatulence, according to FDA reports. Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications? ## No I am not on any other diabetic meds. How ...

I am a 66 year old male. I have been taking Jardiance 10mg for 5 months. I have developed joint pain in multiple joints from jaw to shoulder to elbow to knee that I never had prior. Could this be a side effect of the Jardiance? ## Hello, Keith! How are you? I'm sorry about the discomfort you're experiencing. Yes, the FDA does list that as being a known possible side effect of Jardiance, along with nausea, headache, hypotension, and increased urination. Ref: Jardiance Information Have you consulted your doctor? You may need to try a different medication, or try something to alleviate the joint pain. Are you on any other medications?

I started with 10mg of Jardiance around three weeks back. I am already on 2000mg of metformin. Since I started Jardiance I've been suffering badly from thrush, around every 90 minutes I am peeing. Initially I showed around 10 pounds of weight loss and now again I am gaining the weight back. My other concern is that my magnesium levels have gone down as I am peeing too much and the absorption of the nutrient is less. Please advise...

I am unable to take Metformin as it causes severe side effects and pulmonary oedema. I tried Liraglutide (Victoza) injections which gave my tachycardia. As I have heart failure I was then prescribed Jardiance 10mg 3 months ago which seemed to be ok but I'm not on the loo every hour and have not lost weight (gained 5kg actually). It was increased to 25mg 2 weeks ago and I have been increasingly breathless on mild exertion (speaking and bending forward). Feel like I'm full term pregnant. Surely I can't have side-effects to this too? My blood sugars are fine. ## What are your blood pressure readings? The symptoms you've described can also be due to congestive heart failure, according to NIH warnings. Those are typical symptoms of it. Do you ever wake up at night unable to b...

I just recently started on Jardiance to assist in stabilizing blood sugar. I have Type 2 diabetes and struggle in keeping my A1C within normal range. This drug was added to help reduce sugar and possible weight loss. I am wondering what type of weight loss people are experiencing and what side effects if any. I am only on this med 5 days so far but urinating frequently, does it slow down after some time? That's what my doc said. Thanks. ## Hi Sue, I have not tried the medication known as Jardiance (empagliflozin) for stabilizing blood sugar levels, but did want to share a brief general list of side effects I came across, courtesy of the FDA [1]: - Hypotension (low blood pressure) - Impaired Renal Function - Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) - Genital Mycotic Infections - Urinary Tract ...

Hi, I'm on an insulin pump gained weight , can I use Jardiance with an insulin pump? My doctor put me in samples of Sanjardy and gave me a script. Insurance won't pay for it, but will pay for Jardiance. Since the pump delivers insulin automatically through out the day is it safe ## It is usually best to follow your doctor's instructions. The dosage in your pump can always be adjusted, if necessary. The FDA warns that these medications may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Have you started taking it, yet? Weird, moving muscle aches like I got with statins. I ran out of jardiance for a week and they improved. Now 3 days of back on and miserable. I am female, 68 and I want to be able to walk my dog and ride my snowboard! ## Unfortunately, that can be a side effect of Jardiance, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and ketoacidosis according to FDA reports. Ref: Jardiance Information How long have you been taking it? Side effects typically hit their peak strength around 4 to 5 weeks of taking one steady dose of a new medication, then begin to taper off, until they eventually go away. However, if your symptoms are severe, you should consult your doctor as it might not be the right medication to help you.

Hi. After being intolerant to metformin I started jardiance two weeks ago. I have lactose intolerance so no dairy. I am waking in the night with severe stomach ache and bloating in my mid stomach pancreas area. Has anyone else had this? Does it go away? I'm also on Lansoprazole and Telmisartan. ## Jardiance has been known to cause some gastrointestinal issues as side effects, including stomach pain, but you should have this checked out by your doctor to be sure. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, hypotension, and increased urination. Are you on any other medications?
