Is Tylenol 3 The Same As Hydrocodone

Cause I was reading sum stuff and its the same to me if u agree please tell ## Based on my research, Tylenol 3 is composed of two analgesic or pain-relieving drugs: Acetaminophen + Codeine. But "NOT" Hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is alot like codeine, except that codeine is said to be a natural derivative of opium plants whilst hydrocodone is synthetic. Hydrocodone is also proven to be much stronger. I hope this helps to answer your question! ...

Is hudrocodone the same or contain the same ingredients/drugs as tylenol 3 with codien? ## From what I could gather, Tylenol 3 is composed of two analgesic or pain-relieving drugs: acetaminophen + codeine. Inactive ingredients complete the composition of this medication. So to better answer your question, hydrocodone is not the same, nor is it even contained in this medication. You might be thinking of norco or lortab, which contain a similar combination of acetaminophen + hydrocodone. Both medications are used for pain relief, but I'd consider hydrocodone to be much more potent than codeine from my own experience. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Acetaminophen + Codeine Details I hope this info helps! ...

Is Tylenol 3 the same as a lortab?
1 Reply RSS
I would like to know if Tylenol 3 and Lortab are in the same family. ## Hello, James! How are you? They are both narcotics, but they don't contain the same active ingredients. Tylenol 3 contains Acetaminophen and Codeine, so it's a rather mild narcotic analgesic, but Lortab contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, so it's much stronger. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

are Lortabs still in use? My pharmicist said they were no longer made. ## The FDA has asked dr to no longer prescribe it with 500 mg acetaminophen but instead to use the mandated reduced 325 mg acetaminophen. The FDA has also asked pharmacists to contact the drs if a rx is written for the 500 mg before filling it. The hydrocodone and acetaminophen (Lortab, Vicodin, Norco) are still made. But, the amount of acetaminophen has been reduced. ## So can you take a Tylenol to get the same results since they lowered it to 325? I'm so used to the 500 and it just isn't the same ## Talk to your dr first. The new recommendation from the FDA is not to exceed 3,000 mg of tylenol in a 24 hr period. ## It isn't that the FDA has asked them to no longer prescribe the higher amounts, they'... ...

Can you tell me what the pill looks like? ## Hi Kim, From what I could gather, most of the 5/325mg Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone Bitartrate tablets are white and capsule (oblong) shaped. Some of the imprints on these pills are: IP 109, M365, 3202 WATSON, and 3604 V. There may be more though. Did you have any specific questions or concerns regarding this medication? Please post back if you do. ## Are the V3604. hydrocodone is all the same. "Vicoprofen" is superior for dental pain ## Hi Kim, I'm not sure what the basis of your post is in so far as saying that "hydrocodone is all the same"? But the idea of adding Ibuprofen to the mix instead of the standard Acetaminophen/Tylenol doesn't seem to measure out a significant difference in my opinion, since they are both NSAID's. Vicoprofen may be good for pain for one person, but not necessarily another since everyone tends to respond differently. However each drug still comes with an understanding that undesirable and potentially fatal side effects such as liver or kidney damage, stomach bleeding, etc, has been reported to happen. So even if one does yield better results, the risk factors of using either one long term are... ...

can i take tylenol 3 and norco at the same time
4 Replies RSS
Can I take a norco and Tylenol 3 at the same time I am passing kidney stones and in pain very bad pain!! ## No, you shouldn't combine them, that could cause you to ingest a toxic amount of Acetaminophen, since it's in both of these medications. Too much Acetaminophen could cause liver damage or liver failure and an overdose has the potential to be fatal. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Additionally, you'd be doubling up on narcotics, since the Tylenol 3 contains Codeine and the Norco contains Hydrocodone. They can both cause depression of the central nervous system, which could cause shallow breathing, lowered heart rate and lowered blood p... ...

Why can my DR. not prescribe the HYdrocodone apap 10/660 .reason being i was on it for about 7 years with no side affects and could stop taking it anytime with no problems. The narco 10/325 i have to take twice as many to git the same results, and have constipation problems. ## In Jan 2014, the FDA required manufactuers to limit the amount of tylenol in prescription meds to no more than 325 mgs. They no longer make a med rx with 660 mg tylenol. ## @Rocky, BL is right about the new law limiting the amount of acetaminophen to 325mgs. However to my knowledge there are safer alternatives to acetaminophen (such as Curcumin/Turmeric root) with studies showing that it's as effective as other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs but without side effects when taken as directed. So if that... ...

I have leg and back pain were I can't even walk or even lay down which hydrocodone is best for me!? ## Dear Barbara, the only difference is the amount of Tylenol in them. The 325 have less Tylenol than the 750. Some Drs. Will give the 325 b cause 2 much Tylenol can cause liver problems. p.s. Tylenol is same name 4 acetaminophen. ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? Actually, you have no choice but to go with the one that contains 325mgs of Acetaminophen, because the others are no longer available, they were all removed from the market as of the 1st of the year. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. That is correct, the ones with the higher amount of Acetaminophen in them are no longer available. If you were taking 7.5/750 and now have 10/325 they are pretty close to being equivalent, but you should consult your doctor to be certain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Dear Gregory, the only difference is the amount of acetaminophen (Tylenol) in them. The strength is still the same, but, has less Tylenol . Which is easier on body? Tylenol 3 or hydroco/acetaminop 5-325 ## Hello, Hunter! How are you? Since they both contain Acetaminophen, neither is really any easier on the body, they both carry the same risks of possibly causing liver damage. As to pain relief, the Hydrocodone is far more potent and effective than the Codeine in the Tylenol 3. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## which is stronger-hydrocodone 7.5 325 or hydrocodone 5 325 ## Hi there! Hydrocodone 7.5/325 is stronger than Hydrocodone 5/325. I've been approximately 10 years on hydrocodone acetaminophen 10-500. It now has been changed to Hydrocodone-acetaminophen 10-325 without any consultation. What would be the reason for the change and will it attack the pain the same? Thank you. Todd ## All prescription tylenol combinations medications had to reduce the amount of tylenol to no more than 325 mg in Jan 2014. The FDA has even taken action to withdraw the approval for prescription meds that have more than 325 mg tylenol. The decrease in tylenol may or may not make any difference to you. Some drs are telling their patients to add 1 regular strength tylenol to the prescription meds, if they need it. Just be sure to keep track of how much tylenol you take in a 24 hrs period and don't let it exceed 4,000 mg in a 24 hr pe... ...

Is tylenol 3 as addictive as oxycodone
2 Replies RSS
Is tylenol 3 addictive, like oxycodne or hydrocodone? Is it also a class 2 med? I have chronic pain from a traffic accident a few years back (damaged pelvis & lower back, shoulders, etc.). I am quite active on "good days", like riding my Harleys, and don't want to be stuck having to take pain meds on days I can get by with regular tylenol (and wish to drive & be 100% alert). Thanks for your help, Stood ## Hello, Stood! How are you? Tylenol 3 contains Acetaminophen and Codeine, so while it still has the same potential to be habit forming as the others, it is a much milder analgesic. However, if you don't take them all the time, on a regular basis, you won't become addicted to, or dependent on any of them. That only occurs with regular use and/or abuse of them.... ...

I have a right below the knee amputation due to a land mine that happened in 1968, have never needed pain meds up until 2 to 3 years ago at which time my doc prescribed hydroc/apap 10-650 mg--formerly lortab. Now it has been changed to the same thing only in a 10-325 mg which from what I have been told was due to a change in the law Jan 2014-the 10-650 did a fair job if I oook one every 4 hrs of course the 10-325 do not seem to help very much, have about a 8 out of ten on the pain chart. My wife was given Oxycod/ap 5-325 when she had Cancer surgery, I have taken some of the leftovers and can go 8 to 10 hrs without much pain at all. I have 2 different prescriptions for after knee surgery. Which is stronger for pain? ## Hi, Louise! How are you feeling?
