1. I now take15 mg morphine sulfate TID which makes me sleepy and does not handle my pain, plus up to 10/325 oxycodone 4xday to handle pain. (orig. on 30 mg morphine sulfate + oxy, and reduced at my request due to sleepiness) 2. 10/325 mg oxycodone taken alone 4xday is effective 80 or so % of the time in treating my pain, and does not cause sleepiness. Why the difference? My pain mgmnt physician wants me to rely more on the morphine sulfate. Thank you so much. ## While they are both narcotics, their base chemical structure is different and may affect any given person differently. I had the same problem with Morphine, I could barely ever stay awake, while taking it, however, Oxycodone makes me a bit drowsy, but works much better for me. why would they put an opiate blocker with morphine in a pill together? ## I assume you are referring to the medication Embeda? This has been done to try to prevent abuse of the time released Morphine that the tablets contain. Many people crush them and then try to insufflate or administer it intravenously. If they try it with a tablet that contains the Naltrexone, then the opiate is neutralized and they will have wasted their time. Same if they try to chew the tablet. It does not affect the efficacy of the Morphine, if the pill is swallowed, like it is supposed to be. Do you have any other questions?

How long after taking a 15mg morphine sulfate pill should I wait until I take a 1mg clonazepam? It has been 5hrs since I have taken the morphine. My doctor does prescribe both of them to me. I would just like to be safe about it. ## You should have no problem taking them together. I take 1 mg of Klonopin and 30 mg of oxycodone at the same time. Sam ## It can vary from person to person. It really depends on how your body reacts to each medication. Some people can take them both together, but some may experience too many side effects. The FDA warns that both carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. What is your current dose spacing? ## How long should i wait to take my 1mg klonapin after taking my 30mg morphin...

I am allergic to sulfa drugs . Will I be okay with the Glucossmine Sulfate? ## Hi, Zoey! What sulfa drugs are you allergic to? Is it sulfonamides, or general sulfa drugs like Sulfamethoxazole? If that's the case, they aren't the same as a sulfate, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be careful. ## Thank you very much . I will find out and ask my doctor. ## You can take Sulfate free glucosamnine (glucosmanine Hydrochloride) better than the sulfate one.

I have been taking morphine sulfate er blue tablets coated in ny. I moved to wisconsin and got my first script here for the same meds. Pharmacy gave me morphine sulfate 15mg sr. It's not coated. It appears to be a regular morphine tablet. I took one and feel nausea and sick. What's the difference or is there any? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? What are the markings on the new ones? That is the only way I'd be able to check the details for you. Can you please post back? But please keep in mind that not all time released tablets use a coating, there are several other methods they can use to control the release of the medication. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, diz...

I have been taking ms 60mg for six months. first i received a light tanish round waxy pill with a coating. then 3 months ago i received the same but burnt orange in color. same markings abg and 60. the pharmacy told me that the manufacturer had switched to a different color. idk why, but half of my script was tan and the other orange. 2 months ago i received only orange ones. and then last month i received oblong orange ones marked e655 and 60. these are more chalky and do not have wax. they ARE the same thing only different binders. If you prefer the ones with e655 ask your pharmacist for the ones made by ENDO Labs. ## It is completely normal for your pharmacy to switch what generic medication they provide, at any given time, depending on which manufacturer was offering the cheapest pr...

Can I take the two together ferrous sulfate 325 mg and nitrofur mac cap 100mg? I am scared to take them both at the same time. ## Hello, Precious! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between them, so it should be fine, unless your doctor or pharmacist has instructed otherwise. The ferrous sulfate is just an iron supplement and the Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello Verwon. How are you? I am feeling better now that you replied. Thank you so much. This was very helpful. That's all I needed to know at this time. Have a great rest of the year!!!!

Can fentanyl 50 mcg/h and morphine sulfate cr 30 mg tab, be taken together at the same time? ## Have you consulted a doctor? Where they prescribed to be used together? Since these are both controlled release medications, they are rarely used together, in this manner, due to the risks it can cause, since they both cause depression of the central nervous system. This is usually only done in cases of very severe, chronic pain, where the person has already built up a tolerance to the narcotics and is no longer getting effective relief from them. Normally, if someone is using the Fentanyl patch and requires a medication for breakthrough pain, they are given a regular release or instant release medication. ## Did a doctor prescribe these? If so, did one doctor prescribe the morphine and one t...

i had pills from when my mother had cancer in 2006. can i use these same pills for pain now ## Hi, Linda! Sorry that you're in pain. However, the best thing to do would be to see your doctor to get an appropriate diagnosis and discuss your treatment options. These tablets have an expiration date of one year from when they were dispensed, which means they expired back in 2007. After that they begin to lose effectiveness, which means that after so many years, they are most likely worthless. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I just went to a new pain dr. For 8 years I was on OxyContin 30mg. My insurance wouldn't pay so I was switched to 30 mg ms continue er. This worked fine. All with 5/325 Hydrocodone up to 4 daily for breakthrough. Within the last four months the old Doctor switched to 30mg IRR without telling me why the change. I think just mixed up. Actually it worked basically the same with the breakthrough meds. Now new doc changed to MS Contin er generic with same amount of breakthrough melds. I haven't started yet but am worried it won't work as well. Help ## Since it is a lower dose, it may not manage your pain as well and you may also experience some withdrawal symptoms. As listed by the FDA, withdrawal symptoms may possibly include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills and diarrhea. Is the...

I have morphine sulfate tablet (100)mg and wanted to know what CR means? I know the R is for release but what is the C stand for?, Thanks ## Controlled, this means that it's a time released formulation, which would be a generic for MS Contin, other similar markings that mean the same thing are XR, SR and ER. This is a narcotic, so it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. Learn more: Is there anything else I can help with?

I was taking 60mg of morphine sulfate from Rhodes. The pharmacy said they didn't come in and gave me the Actavis brand instead. They do not work for my pain at all and give me horrible stomach pains! The pharmacist brushed me off, saying they all have the same ingredients! I can't find a picture of it on the internet....it's round, tan, with a 311 on one side & a half moon on the other side. Any help would be appreciated! ## Hello, well this is the first time I have seen these pills too, normally i do not take morphine, unless oxycodone cannot be prescribed. I have been sucessfully taking morphine sulfate ER 60mg manufactured by Mallinckrodt for chronic pain for awhile. I prefer it to other generics (Endo, for example). The pharmacy I've been going to has been kind enough to special order it for me but say that they can't continue to do so due to corporate restrictions with pharmaceutical distributors. As I mentioned, I prefer Mallinckrodt to other manufacturers of generic morphine sulfate ER. While I realize the main ingredients are exactly the same, other ingredients such as fillers and time release methods do vary quite a bit. I have been having quite a bit of difficulty finding pharmacies who carry Mallinckrodt MS ER 60mg at a reasonable price (that seems to vary widely, too). Why is this particular medication becoming so diffic...

What works best for severe pain morphine 30 mg 3 times day or oxymorphone ## The Oxymorphone is around 3 times stronger than Morphine, so it is more potent and requires a lower dosage to achieve the same results in most people. However, what you really need to do is figure out which one works best for you. What has your doctor recommended?

My husband has a history of back pain since 1985. He has had 3 back surgeries, epidural injections and 2 spinal column stimulator implants. His last surgery in 2006 was quite successful. He was on 180 mg of Avinza and percocet for breakthrough pain. He has gradually reduced his medication to 30 mg twice daily of morphine sulphate and has maintained this dosage for 2 years. We have been patients of this primary care group for 25 years. The doctor that we both had been patients of retired, so we now see another MD from the same group. I see a different MD from this group than my husband. The reason being that I do not care for this D.O. that my husband sees. He has been seeing him for approx a year. He had always been given a prescription for a 3 months supply. About 6 months ago the D.O....
