I was given a steroid shot to block a nerve and I cannot take any blood thinners. Is it safe to take benazepril? ## No, this medication is an ACE inhibitor that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

Having surgery and I need to know if any of the following have blood thinners in them: sertraline, omeprazole, benazepril, atorvastatin, or hydrochlorothiazide? ## Hi Ron, Just for your information: - Sertraline is an antidepressant - Omeprazole is for acid reflux / heart burn - Benazepril is an ACE inhibitor used for hypertension - Atorvastatin is used to lower cholesterol - Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic Of the meds that are mentioned above, none are classified as anticoagulants - HOWEVER - Benazepril reportedly works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily. So this is something I would encourage you to discuss with your surgeon ahead of time - just to be on the safe side. I hope this helps!
