My pain specialist had me on 40 mg Opana ER and 15 mg Morphine Sulfate IR for 8 years. I had to find another doctor and starting next week I will be taking 30 mg Oxymorphone ER every 12 hours and 10 mg Oxycodone IR up to 3 per day. I have been out of my break thru pain med for 2 days now and my pain level averages 9 to 10 every day so I have taken 5 mg valium, Tylenol #3 with codine and a baclofen to stop me from going into withdrawal. If this holds true and I did the math correctly, then 7.5mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 11.25mg of Morphine (7.5 x 1.5 =11.25); and 10mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 15mg of Morphine (10 x 1.5 =15). Does anyone know if 2 15mg morphine tabs would be equal to 1 30mg oxycodone. Both are immediate release. I find it ridiculous that sooo many people are messing around with schedule II narcotics yet have no clue to the potency, side effects, drug interactions, etc.. are you people not adults? Oxy is indeed a good 1.5% stronger than morphine and not at all subtle like morphine.. Most doses of Oxy that are between 15-30 mg are IR's not ER (extended release like most morphine)... I wonder what the difference is between 15MG MS Contin vs 15 Mg Oxycodone. I've been taking percocet 7.5/350 mg. for 3 yrs. I was recently prescribed morphine 15mg-cr and I am not getting much pain relief from the morphine. I thought and was told morphine is stronger than percocet but I got more relief from the percocet than I do from the morphine. I cant see that morphine 15 mg does anything for me. I was taking 40 mg oxcontin twice a day and something else for breakthrough pain. Since going on medicare supplement insurance I can't get the oxycontin through the company. I was taking dilaudid for the breakthrough pain but living, in Florida, I can't find it at all here. Does Oxcodone do as good as the morphine? I don't know that I can even get that here though. They have cracked down so much on what is dispensed in Florida that any meds is hard to get.
