Hydromorphone, also known as dihydromorphinone, and sold under the brand name Dilaudid, among others, is a centrally acting pain medication of the opioid class.[3] It is made from morphine. Comparatively, hydromorphone is to morphine as hydrocodone is to codeine – it is a hydrogenated ketone thereof. In medical terms, it is an opioid analgesic, and in legal terms, a narcotic. Hydromorphone is commonly used in the hospital setting, mostly intravenously (IV) because its bioavailability is...

Using Hydromorphone 2 Mg. What should I look for and how to prevent terrible constipation with this medication. Thank you for your time. ## Hydromorphone is a narcotic, so along with the constipation, it may also cause dizziness, dry mouth and nausea. It really isn't good to mix other medications with it, without checking with your doctor. When I was on narcotic pain management, what I found that worked best to prevent the constipation and is completely natural were fiber supplements. Most people don't get enough in their diet, anyway and fiber is not known to cause reactions with many other medications. Are there any other questions? ## Take magnesium suppliments, when i broke my arm they gave my hydromorphone and i took magnesium to build bone density and stop constipation. ##... ...

i take hydromorphone 4mg as needed but i wanted to know was it safe taking two tablets ## Hydromorphone, the active ingredient in Dilaudid is a very potent narcotic analgesic. That said, it is not advisable to increase your dosage without your doctor's approval. Doing so runs the risk of overdose and other serious side effects, such as organ damage. If your current dosage does not control your pain, you should speak to your doctor to explore your other options. Have you contacted them yet? ## Due to a near fatal accident I had in 2007, I have many chronic physical problems, some accident related and others such as severe arthritis, torn ligaments in both knees, disc problems bot sides of the back. Hydromorph Contin 6mg
2 Replies RSS
I have been on Hydromorph Contin 6mg for 2yrs for spinal stenosis and disc problems and the doctor gradually has increased the dosage (I take 2 pills in the am and 2 in the pm). The problem is that I have a sensitivity to codeine and morphine and eventually I cannot take the meds anymore. Is there other painkillers I can take that are not derived from codeine or morphine? I have also been on fentnyl patches but am allergic to the glue used on the patch. ## Did the Fentanyl help? Was the problem with it just caused by the allergy to the glue?
